Division 1 (biggest division):
Rockford (all-white giant suburban school north of Grand
Rapids) 31, vs. Canton (nearly white giant suburban school
east of Ann Arbor, with star black running back) 21

Division 2: Birmingham Brother Rice (white but for two WR/DB,
suburban Detroit preppy Catholic League power, with stud
white LB and very good white RB) 14, Hudsonville (all white
former farming community west of GR) 7

Division 3: Caledonia (all-white south of GR suburb) 27, Haslett
(white except for star QB, who was shut down all game, suburb
of Lansing) 6

Division 4: Flint Powers (largely white Catholic school in Flint
ghetto but student body from outside of Flint, outstanding black
soph running back and good black receiver, potential stud
white junior QB) 17, Grand Rapids Catholic Central (one of
only two Catholic schools in Grand Rapids area, plays in Grand
Rapids City League with mostly not very good black schools,
have one black starter WR/DB) 10

Division 5: Muskegon Oakridge (all white rural Muskegon
suburb with tough running QB) 42, Jackson Lumen Christi (only
Catholic school in Jackson, one of state's top program, saw one
black player) 28

Division 6: Kingsley (all-white Northern Michigan school with
athletic QB) 31, Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central (Detroit
"Downriver" school from smaller Catholic League division, had
black QB -- who couldn't throw at all -- and RB, but stud was a
white kid who had like 300 all-purpose yards and specatular
TDs, probably fastest player in any of the games) 21

Division 7: Traverse City St. Francis (all-white Northern
Michigan Catholic school with 6-6, 240-pound athlete Pat
Rigan going to MSU next year) 28, Unionville Sebewaing (all-
white rural school from the "Thumb" with QB going to CMU for
basketball and defending state champ) 14

Mendon (rural, all-white Kazoo area) 25, Crystral Falls Forest
Park (all-white, western Upper Peninsula) 13

There was only one majority black team to make it to the state
semifinals, Highland Park, which lost to Flint Powers, 31-8, in
Division 4.

Highland Park, Detroit King (lost to Canton, 48-21), Detroit
Murray-Wright (lost to Rochester Adams, 45-7) were the only
majority black teams to make a regional final.

Orchard Lake St. Mary's is about 50/50, and lost to Brother
Rice, 17-8, in regional final, after beating Rice twice in regular
season.

I'm from Northern Michigan too, but have lived all over the state.
Rooted for Kingsley, that was a great game. St. Francis I've
seen blow out teams for years, yaaawn;)

DePorres was really the only good all-black Program, with
great athletes and a class coach, and now it's gone.
