We have talked a little about Max Borghi. The kid is about to blow up this year. I think he will be one of the most exciting players in the Pac 12. Dare I say he is McCaffreyesque! The kid is electric. Here is a short video of a few hilights from his freshman year at Washington State. Let's Go Cougars!

Wow is he a nice looking runner and receiver! He'll probably need to add a good 10 pounds otherwise the NFL will typecast him as purely a third down scatback.

Max Borghi named to Doak Walker Award watch list

by Scott Cresswell

After a terrific freshman season alternating carries with running back James Williams, Max Borghi is primed for a breakout sophomore season. The folks in charge of awarding the Doak Walker Award (given to the nation’s top running back) appear to agree.

Yesterday the Washington State Cougars ball carrier was named to the award’s pre-season watch list. This is a just a preliminary list of the running backs to watch for next season across the country and eight other running backs from the Pac-12 joined Borghi. The last Cougar to make this group was Jamal Morrow in 2017.

Borghi put up 740 all-purpose yards and scored 12 touchdowns as a true freshman. He also caught 53 passes out of the backfield. He was named honorable mention Pac-12 freshman of the year.

Ten semifinalists for the award will be named in November with three finalists then being selected on November 20. The ultimate winner will be announced on December 12 on the Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN. This is the first of what should be many Cougars on preseason award watch lists.

Great to see him truck USC on that highlights, they always need a good beat down IMO.

To show you how good Max Borghi is here is a top rushing list in the pac 12 at the 7 games mark with 5 games to go. He has only a little over 100 yards behind the 2 leaders who the announcers &
scouts all say have nfl talent. Well Borghi is way better than both of these guys! He is 8th in rushing with half the carries of the two leading running backs in the Pac 12. If he had the normal amount
of carries for a starting div 1 running back he would be leading the Pac 12 in Rushing and among the top rushers in the whole country. He is averaging 7.3 yards everytime he touches the ball. The kid is amazing!
