Great looking high school running back!  Look at his stats in the attached article/link I read the beginning of the article, and I enjoyed how the columnist seems perplexed as to why this kid has ZERO DI interest in him. I wanted to send back a one sentence reply: "It's because he's white, and not an afflete". The only thing I didn't like about the kid were his choices of favorite athletes. Yet another glaring example of the caste system in football. And love the last name!

There's probably hundreds of White kids like this that will be ignored completely by larger schools who will instead search high and low to get some ignorant black thug to come play for them. It's how the system works and it ain't going to change for a while. Anyway he will be better off getting on with his life and doing something important, not putting all of his energy in playing a game. Best of luck to him.

From the article my two comments are: the "scout" who mentioned his size as a shortcoming? 5'11" 211? That's a problem why?

And his injury history is pretty extreme, that would put me off if I was recruiting for a major, but at a mid major I would be interested in him at something, maybe not RB, but there has to be a place for a kid with his talent on the team.

I obviously don't know much about this young man, but it's been my experience so far that you have to do more than play and put up great numbers!

It takes alot of work, especially if you're white! I googled his name and didn't see much out there on him other than his high school stats. A 4.57, 40 is above average for a RB his size, but where did he run this at, who saw it. You know, everyone in my county runs a 4.3 if you ask them, but they really run a 4.7/4.8 maybe.

College coaches aren't going to come to you anymore, they don't have to with the internet, you tube, etc.

As I said it takes work, you have to get your name out their, go to combines, such as NUC, NIKE, Under Armour, etc. get your measureables legitimized! If you do well at these combines, you will get attention!

Go to as many 1-day prospect camps as possible, so the D-1 coaches can see you live. At many of these camps you will see D-1AA coaches also, so you get more bang for your buck going to the D-1 camps.

I was at Wake Forests' 1-day top prospect camp last summer and also attending, were coaches from Richmond, Elon, Coastal Carolina and UNC-Charlotte, who starts their program in D-1 in 2013.

Lastly, you have to start making contact with these coaches early, not when your a senior, as early as 8th grade if possible.

As I said, I don't know much about this young man, but it sounds like someone hasn't reached out to help him. I've seen it many times, there are good football players out there, but no one takes the initiative to get the person out there until it's too late.

Snowball named AP First Team All Ohio as RB

Both jaxvid and Carolina Speed brought up valid points that I did not consider, i.e. injury history and the need to be a shameless self-promoter to get attention. I was a bit naive in regards to the use of the internet, et. al. to get your name, stats, vids, etc. out to coaches or the use of camps/combines to make an impression. I'm 43, and I remember when your coach put together a VHS tape of your highlights, and you shipped them off to anyone you felt would give you a look. Obviously times have changed!

On the plus side, Jack Snowball was named AP First Team All Ohio as a RB, and he was named co-offensive player of the year! Congrats to him!

Congratulations indeed, those are great accomplishments!

I'm 44, and my coach didn't even do that for me.

Does this young man want to play college football? It may not be too late, but it will be very difficult if no one knows him.

If he does, I would begin immediately getting his senior highlight tape ready, then start researching D-1 AA schools to see who are not play-off eligible, because their season is done. They are trying to get their seniors committed, plus they are not as busy getting ready for their next game. Teams like E. Kentucky, Furman come to mind. They are pretty good D-1 AA teams whose season is done.

If you've got a player of Jack's caliber and they are short a player or two, they would love to have someone like this kid. I know Wofford has recruited in Ohio, but they are in the playoffs and will be harder to get in touch with, BUT go to Wofford's football website, find out who those Ohio players are, get in touch with their high school coaches to see if they can help you with getting Jack looked at.

Again, this will be very difficult, but if he seriously wants to play and he has the measureables, it's worth the work.

If you want to PM me I may can help you if you want to to talk.

I hope this helps.

According to the previous posts, Snowball was AP 1st team all Ohio RB and co-Offensive player of the year. So, he is obviously not an "unknown" player flying under the radar. Why would he need to self promote, when the sportswriters have obviously noticed and given him the highest accolades? If injury history was significant, how did he have such an outstanding senior season? His speed? 4.57 40 time is excellent for a high school back of his size. With training, he could likely improve. If not, he will still be faster than the smaller Heisman trophy winner and New Orleans Saint, Mark Ingram. There is only one explanation for the lack of D-1 interest: He doesn't have a snowball's chance in the hell known as the Caste System.

icsept,

There are first team all state players here, black and white, who don't play college football, every year.

Why be so negative when there's proof white kids can get recruited? I don't need to list them for you.

I'm telling you from my own experience so far, what most white kids have to do.

What experience do you have? You may have more than me, I don't know.

jdoc has said he didn't know or take advantage of the opportunities out there!!!

Every combine and every prospect camp I have been to, 75% of the kids out there have been black and it's worse in the RB/WR section, there might be 1 or 2 white kids in 50.

I'm all for helping white kids get recruited, but regardless of the media attention, local attention, they are not going to help you. You have to help yourself. IT TAKES WORK, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE WHITE!

JDoc,

Here is a list of OHIO high school players who are on Wofford University's roster!

Mitch Allen QB- Cincinatti/Sycamore High

Cody Burris RB- Plain City/Dublin Jerome High

Mike Niam LB- Hudson/ Hudson High

T.J. White OL- Troy/ Troy High

Josh Hilliard TE- Delaware/Olentangy

Zach Murray DL- Avon Lake/Avon Lake

I'm mentioning Wofford, because obviously they recruit in Ohio, they seem to be white friendly, all the listed players are white, high academics, are a playoff team and won the SoCon last year. Their white RB, Eric Breitenstein is the SoCon offensive player of the year! Also, had a couple players sign pro contracts last year.

I think icsept is correct: Snowball did get the attention of the AP sportswriters, and consequently (surprisingly) was rewarded for his efforts. But to accomplish what he has and not even one Mid American Conference school has shown interest (by the way, Kent State and Akron are about 30-45 minutes away from his school), that just blows my mind. But it happens every year, and that is why I try to tell as many people as I can about this site: this site just tells it like it is, and with the way site members back their conclusions with large amounts of factual evidence, it's impossible to refute the idea of a caste system in football.

I forgot to add that Snowball did this in Ohio's largest enrollment level for football: Division I

Carolina Speed, thanks for the Wofford information! I will pass that along to several high school players that I think would be a great fit for their program. I am going to try to get in touch with a few coaches who may know Snowball's head coach, and see if they can assist in drumming up some interest/offers for him. I think his best asset is his GPA: it's not as if coaches have to be on pins and needles to see if he qualifies academically. We already know he can play. Thanks again!

I don't have any experience with modern, big time football recruiting. I know in minor sports, such as track and cross country, if you perform well, the schools come to you. That's why it's called recruiting. Apparently in D-1 football, you have to sell yourself. Most respectable young White men are not inclined to self-promotion or begging for an invitation to a combine.

Modern football recruiting, from high school to college, is a travesty. Skin color is key to getting the second glance from coaches and recruiters who have been completely brainwashed. The concept of black athletic superiority is FACT to 90%+ of them.

I have had conversations with Rivals "experts" on local radio shows on how black kids are so overwhelmingly represented in recruiting ratings, while white kids with better production and measurables are ignored. They all mumbled things about "marketing themselves" and such. Like black kids in the ghettos are constantly on their computers marketing themselves and updating profiles. Right. The truth is that the better black kids, especially from larger classifications, have their marketing done for them by the scouts. At a camp over the summer here in Missouri, there was a fairly large percentage of black attendees (by Missouri standards, anyway) and talking to some of them, and from my son's conversations with many, they were INVITED by the school and paid NOTHING for the camp ($250). Similarly, many (and probably a high percentage at the camps you attended with your son, Carolina Speed) Under Armour, Rivals (NationalUnderclassmen), and Nike black attendees pay nothing for the combines, as they are "preferred" or "hardship". If you are a piss-poor white kid, don't look for this kind of hand-out, it's only for folks of the proper pigmentation.

Apparently there's a misunderstanding. I hope you're not saying I'm not respectable!

It's not about promoting yourself. It's about proving yourself. If you call going out and competing with others to see where you stand with the competition self-promotion, then so be it, but you're definitely not going anywhere if you sit around and whine and cry about why no one is recruiting you.

You don't have to beg to go to combines and camps. You simply attend and show what you can do. Yes with some combines & camps there's a fee, but with others there's not, depends on where you go.

What do you think McGuffie, Burkhead, etc. did? They went to where the competition was! I guess they and their parents are not respectable because they attented major combines and camps resulting in scholarships to Michigan and Nebraska!

You're not exactly right where track is concerned either. Most athletes that compete have to hit a number, such as a 10.4, 100m time or below, will normally get you a D-1 scholarship without being seen live by any recruiter as long as it, (the time) is legitimized.

For example, when Olympic Gold medalist Jeremy Wariner went low 40 times in the 400m in high school, many of his offers from all over the country were done via phone, fax, etc.

Footballdad,

You are correct on most of your points. I agree with most of your comments, that's why I have said tiressly that white kids have to do more, I'm not denying that.

I thought that was the idea here on Caste Football, to do what it takes to help and promote the accomplishments of white athletes.

I know many black kids get into these camps free, I know there not promoting themselves, but does that give us the right to 'not' help white kids!

Don't attend the $250.00 camps, most 1 day top prospect camps range from $30/$50. The Nike Combine is free for everyone here in N.C./S.C.

When January 2012 rolls around, check out all the D-1, 1- day prospect camps in your area. I know that not all D-1 colleges offer these camps, but I would be curious to see who does.

Just trying to help. I thought the kid from Ohio, Jack Snowball needed some help. I'm only speaking from my experiences.

yes, white kids need to tirelessly promote themselves. As for the camp, the $250 camp was a full-contact (not a numbers combine) 3 day camp including overnight accommodations and meals at a Mizzou dormitory, and includes tickets to (9 total) to three games. It was full position instruction, with almost two full days of scrimmages. It was taught by the Mizzou coaching staff, and included participation by the Mizzou players as well. As a result of the camp and the performance of my son, he is now on the "recruit" list for Mizzou and I send game tapes as they are available, so it was worth every penny.

Carolina Speed: I'm not saying anything about you personally, I'm sure you're respectable. According to the Snowball article, he was certainly not "whining or crying about not being recruited." He claimed no regrets or bitterness. I'm sure he can have a successful life without D-1 football. I do think there is a cultural difference with White athletes that is disadvantageous in the current system. In the black community, the mantra is "closed mouths don't get fed". There is unlimited self-promotion and demands for hand-outs or for whatever they believe they are entitled. The White community values instill the belief that if you work hard you will be rewarded with success. Snowball proved himself on the field. If he wasn't recruited because he failed to attend combines and camps, then maybe it is his fault. If attending combines and camps is the solution to defeating the caste system, then I am all for the education of White athletes in that regard.

icsept; Nor was I implying that Jack Snowball was whining and crying, I was just saying that in general terms, maybe I shouldn't have used those words. It just sounds like sometimes people use excuses for not getting recruited, again not implying Jack Snowball, jdoc has already said he didn't take advantage of opportunities.

I absolutely agree about the cultural differences in blacks and whites and it being disadvantageous for whites. For this reason, I have worked, researched, attended, etc. recruiting possibilities with what I would say success in helping a certain person get recruited.

I am just trying explain the experiences I had and how it may help another white kid get recruited if that's truly what he wants!

Concerning camps and combines; it's again been my experience in that is where the competition is and it gives coaches the opportunity to see the athlete live. If a kid truly runs a 4.4, 40, there he has the chance to prove it.

Last thing, I was at a top prospect camp last summer and a kid, who was white, was listed at 6'2, 215, 4.6, 40, 9'10 BJ on Rivals. At the camp, he measured 5'11,175, 5.12, 40, 8'9 BJ. So, my point is everything you read is not always true, even for self-promoting white people.

I've said this numerous times on this CF, I'm not covinced of anyone's measureables unless it appears on something that's proven. Again, that's why I say going to college camps and combines are so important.

If a kid is what he says he is, then there should be no reason not to prove it!

Carolina, I've mentioned the same thing you just did about measurables in the past. They are sometimes very different from what they list online. I've seen quite a few kids from the local high school here that are listed as 200 plus pounds yet when you see them in person they look about 160 or 170lbs.

I'm willing to bet that a lot of black prospects coming out of high school have very inflated speed numbers. According to Rivals every negro in the country runs a 4.5 or better. Ever notice how they list all the black dual-threat quarterbacks on rivals as having much better 40 times than all the white ones? Then at NFL combines and Pro-Days white players put up similar or better numbers than the black players. How is that possible when these white speedsters don't exist according to WhiteRivals and the rest?

Right Whiteathlete, I know from experience that Rivals will put whatever measureables you send to them, but what I submitted is backed up, being the measureables are very consistent and are done at reliable camps and combines, with steady improvement from year to year. As I've also said, everyone(black kid) in my county runs a 4.3 if you ask them, Riiiggghhht!!! Then, when you see them at a combine or camp, they run 4.7/4.8 range.

At one division 1 prospect camp there were over 300 kids, 75% black, there were (2) , 4.4's and (4), 4.5's. The other 294 kids were 4.6 or higher. I know because one of the 6 kids in the top six is a WHITE, 15 year-old Sophomore who I know very well!!!

To me this is one of the best ways to get out there, because there were coaches from 5 different D-1,D-1AA schools, there with the watch on these kids. They can see whose for real in the speed category!

Is that where Rivals gets their numbers from? The numbers you send them? Wow! They are worse than I thought. So I'm guessing production in high school isn't important to them and only how fast the blacks run is. As we've mentioned here a million times, there are tons of white players who have broken state records yet are completely ignored. Blacks can put up far inferior numbers as long as their 40's times are up to par with Rivals agenda.

That being said don't they have to verify some of these ridiculous numbers by the players senior year?

Apparently not, that's why I keep repeating to anyone out there who is listening!

You need to get to D-1 Top Prospect Camps and Legit Combines, NIKE, NUC, Under Armour, U.S. Army Combine, etc.

To prove your measureables stack up and get exposure no matter what someone else does, If their numbers are phony, they will get exposed!

No, times/measureables aren't the end all, but along with what you do on the field will get you exposure, Check, McGuffie, Burkhead, Wegher, etc. These guys attended D-1 Camps and combines!

75-80% of the attendees are black! If we want more whites out there, they have to know what their up against and prove what they can do!

Many here may disagree, but I'm telling ya'll what I see!

Apparently not, that's why I keep repeating to anyone out there who is listening!

You need to get to D-1 Top Prospect Camps and Legit Combines, NIKE, NUC, Under Armour, U.S. Army Combine, etc.

Hey Carolina thanks for all the information in this thread. I have two young nephews one is 12 the other is 9, and I have been looking out for this type of information. I'm sort of their personal trainer, I'm pretty light on the 9 year old I have him do cardio and balance and callanetics/core work, he will do push ups when he drops a pass or runs a lazy route. I'm kind of stumped on how to proceed with the 12 year old, he has great moves, I have worked with him extensively on 3 cone, 40 yd, 30 and 60 yard shuttle. His times are ok, but improving everyday. Any camps for players of that age? Thanks again

When my boy was younger, I would have him play in whatever flag football leagues I could find. The local YMCA usually has one if you can't find any others. The flag game is great for working on speed and quickness, and since you're running full speed all of the time, it's also great for the endurance aspect.
