The guys who replied to the Most Overated question got me thinking. I wonder what yall think about guys who were underated. I certinly think Calzghe is underated. I bet if he went back in time and beat Ali, Frasier, and a Prime RJJ, he still wouldnt be respecteed as he should be. Help me out gentlemen. Who are some more of or fighters who never got respected properly by the Caste World of sports?

Dariusz M. (48-2) is an all time great who doesn't receive recognition.

Calzaghe is underrated at the moment, but history may prove kind to him.
Dariusz Michalczewski, as mentioned above, is definately very underrated.
In the same way every heavyweight of the 70's is overrated, every heavyweight from Marciano on back (excluding Louis and Johnson...wonder why?) is underrated in my opinion. You still hear good things about Marciano, Dempsey, Jeffries, Baer, etc. But they are NEVER given the credit they are due. The media instead focuses on the Sam Langfords, and Harry Wills instead.
The Klitschko's are definately underrated as was Lennox Lewis during his time.
Finally, guys lik Greb and Pep, while certainly given much respect, don't come up enough in p4p greatest discussion among the boxing media. Carmen Basilio is also underrated.

Actually, most agree that Dariusz was past his prime for those two losses, so they are not really held against him. The Tiger tried everything to get Jones to fight him, but Jones wouldn't. That is what Kellerman and others hold against him. They blame him for RJJ's cowardice.
Watch some vids of him on youtube, and you will CLEARLY see why Jones didn't take the fight. His 12 round destruction of Virgil Hill basically ended Hill's career at LHW. Hill fought Jones the fight after, and was stopped, which is something else the boxing idiots hold against him; that RJJ beat Hill quicker, even though it was the Tiger who didmuch more damage.

I may not be correct on this but I believe Dariusz lost those 2 fights when he came out of retirement. He wasn't the same then.

I wonder how the media would treat Dariusz or Joe if they fought from the US. I am sure they would not be praised like Jones or Popkins.

Yes why isn't Marciano called "The Greatest"? Ali is yet he has several loses on his record. Ohh that's right Marciano is the wrong color so he will never get his respect. That angers me more than anything today.
The Rock is certinly underated, to the point its almost comical! 49-0. Im glad someone brought up Tunney. Thanks fellas, great post by all my bros.
If any others pop into mind, please remind me of them. I love finding videos of these guys to watch. In all honesty, whites make up at least 8 of the10 all time greatest, in my book. I watched the Tigers highlights and could not have been more impressed. THAT DUDE WAS A BEAST! Sean is right, he would have pounded Boy jones into the canvas. Thanks Sean, as usual, for the info.
