ESPN broadcast nationally the game between highly ranked Hoover High (AL) and Nease High(FL) the other day, and it was quite a game. there were three white guys who really stood out, and all three are being looked at as Division I prospects:

Tim Tebow QB from Nease is acknowledged as one of the top 5 high school quarterbacks in the country by most recruiting services. He's big, fast, and has a great arm.

His favorite target is Ryan Ellis (6'2", 180, 4.58 listed but he looks faster). Ellis was first team all-state in Florida last year catching 73 balls for 1,392 yards and 17 touchdowns. Ellis had 12 catches for 164 yards and a score in the game.

The only guy who could cover Ellis was Max Lerner (5'10", 187, 4.46) a cornerback/safety for Hoover. Lerner battled cramps for much of the second half but looked dominant in the first half while covering Ellis one-on-one most of the time. He only gave up one completion in the second half from what i could tell after coming back into the game, despite obviously being slowed. Conditioning was surely a factor, but he's unbelievably well built.

In the little bit of the game that I saw, Lerner stood out. Tebow looked good as well.

Tebow still hadn't committed as of the gameday we've been discussing.

They talked about one of those QB's who had committed to LSU, maybe it was the other teams QB. They talked him up as to how good he is.

Do you think they need to have more high school games on ESPN? or Do you think they could create another network with nothing but high school games on it? Just a thought!
