Sad to see him go, however, to the Saints credit, they worked out two replacement FB's (the Saints only are keeping 1 active FB on their roster this year), one guy was black and the other was Kyle Eckel who the Saints did sign. Glad to see the guy back in the game!

Though the Saints prolific offensegot over the loss of Evans...I still think they miss his versitility...they could surely use him for the playoff run....

Glad Eckel got back into the league too..

Ouuch...this thread had me for a second...thinking on no not again! Thankfully this is a 09' thread...

Nice TD catch by Heath Evans...showed some nice acceleration at 250! The Saints offenseis evenbetter with this all-purpose fullback...wish he could have played in the Super Bowl last year!

Evans blasts Adrian Peterson but puts himself down as well. Evans is a pretty good athlete himself who should have been a running back in the league.

<div ="re">

Free agent FB Heath Evans had harsh words for Adrian
Peterson after the Pro Bowl running back compared the owners' treatment
of players to "modern-day slavery."

"Well first of all, I wish I had the athletic ability of
AP's like little finger," said Evans. "But he's an idiot, and what he
said was moronic at best." Evans also criticized Antonio Cromartie and
Nick Collins for public comments in favor of prospects attending the
draft. Evans is right that players speaking out have "hurt" the image of
the NFLPA, but his own disparaging remarks aren't helping the unity.

'People' magazine had a write up about Heath Evans and his wife who started a charity to help people cope with being molested as children. They've raised $1.5 million and have hired two administrators who manage a network of 16 therapists. His wife was victimized as an 8 year old by an older student.

To my mind this not only shows what kind of person Heath Evans is but also why the promotion of white athletes goes beyond mere representation in a particular sport. They tend to be good citizens and leaders in civic matters. Brawn, brains and empathy are the foundation of civilization. Sports are a way to promote these qualities but the effort is often wasted on black athletes.
