I live in Metro Detroit. My wife has a Master's in Psychology from U of M Ann Arbor, and couldn't get an entry-level social work job if her life depended on it. Every blue moon when one opens up, she'll go down to the site,and wait in an auditorium with 300 other Master's Degree having applicants, and waither turn to be interviewedfor that one $18,000 a year job. When you have a city, who's economyfor the most part was built on the back of a single industry, and that one industry goes belly-up, devastation is sure to follow. When the auto industry was pumping, Detroit was one of the most vibrant, active cities in the country. Now we're done, and the prospects look grim.

Rick93 sorry to hear about you and your wife's prospects. But direct your anger an the Democrats that have been running your city for decades. All of these enabling social programs have broke your city. Now the grim reaper is coming to be paid.

I live on the west coast in the Los Angeles area. Democrats have been running this city for decades. Now its broke and have resorted to giving city employees work furloughs four times a week! I will be amazed if the residents vote these fools back in. 2010 is shaping up to very interesting.

My advice for the poster who is in Detroit get out of Dodge(if you can). Things are about as bad they were in the Great Depression in Detroit. To be honest the lineup was pretty orderly. Imagine if they were handing out money on the spot. We could have had another Walmart riot.....
