Devon Allen 12.84 - the carbon-plated shoes seem to really be helping the hurdlers.

I remember several years ago when it was claimed Allen is part-Black. Is there any evidence for that? He looks White and according to this article both of his parents are White. Maybe he has some Spanish in him considering he was raised in Phoenix:

Devon Allen’s mother is Joey Lyn Knudson and his father is Louis Allen. Allen is incredibly close with his family. Both his parents set up GoFundMe fundraisers to get their son to the Rio Olympics in 2016, as well as be able to go and support him. His father raised nearly $20,000, while his mother raised about $8,000. His father Louis previously worked as a software engineer, but was laid off just before the Rio Olympics. Allen’s parents are no longer together; his mom Joey lives in Seattle and travels to watch his races. Knudson has said about her son: “He is my inspiration for so many things I’m working on in my own life. He and his twin sister are the best things that have ever happened to me!” Allen’s twin sister Carissa is also an athlete. However, while Allen played football and track for Oregon, Carissa attended Northwest Christian University and plays volleyball. Devon Allen’s ethnicity is white, and his nationality is American as he was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. https://www.thefocus.news/sports/olympics/devon-allen-parents/

Sorry to bear the bad news. This is from Devon Allen's twitter in 2020 in the wake of the George Floyd riots. https://twitter.com/devonallen13/status/1266705742893125633?lang=en

This guy could probably clear the hurdle (heh) for the Nuremberg Race Laws, but he still identifies as black because obviously there is social value in that. Allen's father appears to be a fair-skinned quadroon with somewhat frizzy hair. Again, it's not a judgment call - he literally calls himself black.

Lol, I guess he’s black but probably anywhere from 5-10% if he took a DNA test. He admits that he gets treated as White, so from the perspective of the Caste System, I’d say he’s worth supporting. The average person sees him as White and they are probably right to do so.

Anyway good sleuthing Phall.

Devon Allen doesn’t help our cause, because his speed will be attributed to the 1/8 black genetics.

I agree with this. I still remember the debate back when the Toucan (Kapernick) was in college and people here counted him as White. Meanwhile he goes onto to **** on the White family that adopted him, provide him with a stable upbringing and tries to identify with his absentee black father.

There is a photo with Allen his father and sister and they in no way look White in that photo. Yes it's a tan but short of Hulk Hogan and George Hamilton I have never seen somebody of Anglo Saxon stock ever tan that dark. Granted his mother could be Greek, Italian or Spanish but even with that being half English he wouldn't be able to tan that dark. That said if he was from Brazil or the Anglo Caribbean he would be White. Rhonda Rousey has roughly the same African ancestry but she has never been considered Black and I doubt she considers herself that.

Funny story I had relative who is a typical DWF ie the Klitschko's only clinch and if an Ali was around would be heavyweight champ and he thought Toucan was an Arab or Turk and wondered why he was involved in Black Lives Matter racial politics...

It just illustrates again how ridiculous the definitions are in the U.S. when it comes to race. So Devon Allen, by claiming he's Black, is therefore a Negro, no different in his racial categorization than the blackest full-blooded Negro football player. The "one drop rule" is ludicrous and is a relic from a time when there was a lot of White racism, but it's beneficial to the professional race hustlers and all who define themselves as racial victims, which is why it's unlikely to change any time soon.

I agree. with you Don. I will still root for him because the minorities I know consider him white. They don't try to claim him in my honest opinion. Do we need DNA Tests for every white athlete.? Kapernick is not even close. There is nothing
about him that looks or acts white. Devon Allen is the opposite. I will root for him in the US Trials and the World Champs. Then I will root for him as he plays wide recevier for the Phil. Eagles. If they look white and are 90% white then
I'm ok with that. I would be even some people here on the site might have tiny percentages of something mixed in over hundreds of years of the family. I'm pro white all the way but I consider Allen a good white kid & a great athlete!

I'm not trying to cut down any of the people who don't want to root for him. It's a free world but the kid has white skin, white hair and green eyes. How many brothers look like that? Speaking of green eyes. I was in love with a blonde that looked like a swimsuit model. It didn't work out as she ended up getting remarried to her first husband but she was a knockout blonde with green eyes. Only
2 percent of the people in the whole world have green eyes. Way rarer than blue eyes. Just thought I would add that to the discussion but to each his own.

There will be no anti-Sicilian gibes from me on this thread, I felt I had to say that for some reason.

I feel bad for Allen that he has to live his whole life proclaiming his negro blood. Must be draining and confusing being the Whitest Black kid in America, lol

His progression is kind of interesting. He had a 12.99 in September of 2021, but now at age 27, he is running better than ever. Besides his recent 12.84, He did a 4.35, 40 at his recent football tryout and a 10.20, 100 meters this past April. We have people on this board already bailing on Boling, and he hasn't even turned 22 yet.

"Bailing" good Lord get a life if you are bailing on someone, that is fandom to the extreme. I hope the young man does well but I'm not gonna put all my chips on that hand of poker. Anyway I would rather hear at CF about how someone here actually ran track at a lower level and could break 11s than get all wound up about one person with extreme talent not being the absolute best of the best every day, that is unicorn stuff.

The high hurdles is a very technical event where an older athlete can win medals when if he was competing in the 100 he would be on his last legs. Both the men's and women's side have examples of older athletes winning medals in their 30's. Until recently pure speed events hardly had these examples.

PS a slower guy or women can beat a faster runner with better technique. I recall super fast Terrence Trammell never winning gold in the 110 hurdles but he was the fastest sprinter in the hurdles as he won indoor 60 medals at the world championships.

Whatever about his ethnicity - his 12.84 is about the shoes!

That's funny. The tecnology is getting better all the time but any hurdler can wear those spikes. Devon Allen is not winning because of the just the spikes. Hahaha.

Everybody's times are being lowered at all levels of competition, probably by as much as 4%. No other shoe in history has ever given a runner this much improvement.

Interesting. It’s the same in every sport, though. It’s a thin margin at the top, so you better have the best shoes. Nobody’s playing basketball in Chuck Taylor’s anymore.
Yes - I remember going from Chuck Taylor's to Adidas Superstars when I was young.

images.jpg my training shoes in 1970. It was either these or the long grass spikes on leather shoes that were often damp and cold - and varied in size due to that.
My feet didn't know what to make of it
