Now the talk is of using McCaffrey more in the slot. To his credit McCaffrey shot that down. He pans in working out less this off-season. Here’s hoping he really incorporates stretching routines to the Max; staying limber is the key to his success and ability to stay healthy.

I’ve seen more and more chatter about playing him more in the slot. While he could be a Pro Bowler there without a doubt, I highly dislike it.

He was injured with a hamstring strain this year; non-contact injury that can happen to anyone at any time. It had nothing to do with him being a running back.

Christian should get 225 carries and about her 60-70 receptions and he will be just fine. What the Panthers need is good QB play and much better play by their offensive line. Another competent receiver beyond Moore and a good TE will do wonders.

Oh and a new head coach.

So now it is official: the Panthers are actively listening to offers for Christian McCaffrey. Selfishly I want to see him go to either Buffalo (ideal) or Green Bay (I’m from Wisconsin).

LA Rams. White QB, the best WR (WHITE) in the league. A great TE(WHITE) White OL. A lot of options on offense. It would take some pressure off of CMAC.

I would love any of these teams. LA Rams, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Greenbay Packers and the New England Patriots. If Cmac is on a new team, please let it
be a contender for the playoffs year after year. He has suffered on some awful teams.

LA Rams would also be good. But I really want to see Josh Allen win a Super Bowl.

Panthers cut Morgan Fox. Let’s hope CMC gets out of there next.

I keep hoping the good news of McCaffrey getting traded to the Bills materializes.

Me too, that would be so damn awesome....McCaffrey needs a new team. On a squad with a bad ass qb that has a passing game......Super bowl bound...

    And Beasley needs to stay,

This is likely because the Panthers were unable to trade for any of the big QB names on the market, but I do think Sam can be successful and he's still only 24. He played well early on last season -- his passing yardage in the first four games was 279, 305, 304 and 301 -- before his season and his team's went to crap. I don't know if he'll ever be able to thrive under the Rhule regime but if he does start in '22 it'll likely be his last chance to establish himself , otherwise he'll be relegated to backup status from here on out. And the Panthers may still draft Pickett or Willis later this month.

The Charlotte Observer reports "there's a strong chance" Sam Darnold will be the Panthers' Week 1 starter.
Panthers GM Scott Fitterer called Darnold the lead for the quarterback job last month. Carolina overhauled its offensive coaching staff after Darnold went 4-7 with 13 interceptions over 11 starts in an injury-shortened first season with the Panthers. There's some "belief in the organization" that Darnold, who was the youngest starting quarterback in league history and is only 24, will take a step forward in 2022. After missing out on Deshaun Watson, the Panthers plan to run it back with Darnold over trading for a veteran starter, though Fitterer hasn't ruled out a drafting quarterback with the No. 6 pick.

As long as Darnold has a healthy CMac, he will do just fine.

What if Pickett gets the nod to start after he is drafted 6th ?

I hope you are right about the Panthers picking Pickett 6th Ben Sharp Arrow, but I got a queasy feeling they might go with Willis with all the upside. Ruhle loves QBs with that upside.

As much as I like Pickett, these teams need to realize they have got to field stellar offensive lines prior to going all-in on a new QB. The QB could be the best prospect in a generation but if he is beat to hell because of poor line play he becomes Andrew Luck 2.0.

Now I am also biased because the Panthers are wasting McCaffrey’s career by fielding such horrible lines. I try to catch every Panther game I can to watch CMC and he typically has to make at least 1-2 guys miss just to make it to the line of scrimmage. The fact he has had the success he has with atrocious offensive line play and mediocre to terrible QB play is amazing.

You are probably right Warhawk. Darnold is a decent Qb and the Panthers have always had a pretty pathetic line since McCaffrey came into the league. Some better run blockers would be of some help. christian M. has been my favorite athlete since I saw him in high school. As we all know the shelf life of an NFL rb is not great so I am not going to expect CM to be around for another 8 years as his prime is probably for another 3-4 years. I wonder if all the wear and tear at Stanford those last two years has come back to bite McCaffrey as I recall none of his injuries were the last 2 years were not caused by a big hit or huge contact then again lots of players go down ( think OBJ ) with no contact whatsoever. I think the Panthers go with Pickett as their future does not revolve totally around CMAC and trying to improve the overall quality of the team.

Not sure about Darnold. Make or break it year for him. I do agree crappy, sumo, OL play has limited Carolina in recent years.

CM makes any QB look good as he is just that good. When he is healthy he is the running back in the NFL. I have never liked Darnold as a QB but he did play well in his first games with the Panthers and CM. He tailed off badly once CM was out of the lineup.

Darnold looked like a different Qb with CMC in the game. a lot of Darnolds issues came from his time with the Jets. They really destroyed him. I watched a great majority of his games at USC and he played much looser and confidently there. I hope he re-discovers those abilities.
