How goofy the NFL has become.

Remember Sean Taylor, the violent thug who played for the Washington Redskins until somebody gave him a taste of his own medicine and shot his ass up good? His death was all over the news a year or so ago. Well, the Redskins honored him with a special ceremony at their game the other day. The "honor" included playing the gangsta rap song called Big Things Poppin', which glorifies the widespread Negro practice of settling disputes with guns. His family picked the song out, and the Redskins and the NFL signed off on it.

I wonder what they'll play when Pacman gets his just desserts?

(Say, I wonder if Obama will pardon OJ?)

That's unbelievable. The Redskins' organization has bent over backwards to glorify this thug. These ignorant fools wouldn't have a clue about what the song meant, even if they could understand the words. They should put this guy in the ring of shame as an example of the debased gangsta culture that he lived and died by.

Uhhh his death had nothing to do with gangster culture. His Mansion was broken into by some thugs looking to strike it rich with a lucrative robbery.

Whether the guy was a sterling character or not he left behind a wife and one kid I believe after being killed in cold blood and that is a tragedy. The only negative thing I ever heard about him was him losing his temper on the field and spitting in another players face which is wrong, but doesn't make him a worm. I'm not saying he should be treated like a God after his death, but I do feel bad for his kid he left behind.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Not true, Tough J. The young thugs charged with Taylor's murder were well acquainted with Taylor - one dated his sister, had been to his house for a birthday party, cut his lawn, etc. The murderers had criminal backgrounds and thuggish lifestyles. Taylor stayed true to the hood.

Of course its tragic and unfortunate for his family left behind. The point of this thread is the irony/absurdity of playing a rap song glorifying gun violence in tribute to Taylor.Edited by: icsept

This incident, the most well-known of Taylor's run-ins,has been mentioned on here quite a fewtimes:

On June 5, 2005, ESPN and The Miami Herald both reported that Taylor, accompanied by his lawyer, surrendered to Miami-Dade police at approximately 10pm ET on June 4 at Miami's Cutler Ridge district police station, where he was transported to Miami's Turner Guilford Knight correctional facility. He was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, a felony, and misdemeanor battery. Miami-Dade police issued a statement the same day, confirming the earlier reports. Taylor had allegedly pointed a gun at a person over a dispute over two ATVs that he claimed were stolen.[citation needed] Taylor then allegedly left the scene, but returned shortly and punched one person.Edited by: Don Wassall
