Could be another ratings boom for the PGA if first round leaders Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia stay in the mix through the weekend. Both shot bogey free 63's yesterday. Spieth could solidify he's back to stay with another win in Texas. It would certainly guarantee continued favorable ratings for the PGA heading into the US Open in two weeks. With popular golfers like Spieth hot and Phil Mickelson playing in his hometown of San Diego with a chance to complete the career Grand Slam.

Phil's undoubtedly mentally and physically exhausted after his epic win, doesn't surprise me at all that he missed the cut. Credit to him for even playing rather than withdrawing.

By no means am I going to compare this tournament to the PGA, but in terms of attendance you can already see an enormous crowd building behind Spieth and Korak. It looks as though it has already affected Spieth and Kokrak as they are making a mess out of the opening hole. A par five and one of the easier holes on the course. They are going to have to settle down if one of them is going to win this tournament.

Well, no harm done to Spieth. He parred out and Kokrak bogeyed.
    1. Spieth -15
    2. Kokrak -13
Spieth toes into the rough on number 2. It's going to be an interesting finish.

Ohio native Jason Kokrak wins the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth by two. Jordan Spieth shoots a final round 73 and finishes second. Spieth has had the 54 hole lead 3-4 times this year only to lose all but one. Should've been easy to close out his one with a two stroke lead, but give Kokrak credit he hung in there and defeated Spieth in his home state and an hour from his home in Dallas.
On another note, at the beginning holes for Spieth the fans were no more than 10-15 feet from him on some of his shots. He looked almost surrounded at one point. These fans have more faith than I do. I've seen quite a few shanks in my life by the pros. If one of these balls ever hit a fan/child from 10-15 feet it's going to leave a mark on someone. Not to mention it had to be little un-nerving for Spieth trying to concentrate and an accurate shot with fans so close. I have a hard enough time trying to break 85 with my friends and no one else around.

Spieth has been on an incredible hot streak, but with only one win to show for it. Nevertheless, he’s #1 in the FedEx Cup standings, and it’s been fun having him on the mix again.
