Consistently one of the most anti-white teams as of late, MTSU has had 5, 5, 8, 8, 4, 6, 4, 1, 2, 6, 5, 4, and 3 white starters since 2005. They look to start 6 this year, doubling last year's paltry number. For the first time since I've been recording this team (starting around 2011), MTSU will feature white defensive starters including stud true sophomore Reed Blankenship. Kudos to our user TwentyTwo who pointed out this player last year, Blankenship was Honorable Mention All-Conference as a true freshman last year. He is going to be one to watch out for. The other starter is former safety Cody Smith. The redshirt freshman is transitioning to linebacker.

RS Senior Brent Stockstill (son of HC Rick Stockstill) is MTSU's all time leader in passing yards and TDs and he will have a new intriguing target in graduate transfer WR Gatlin Casey. Although he was not listed on the pre-camp depth chart (so I am not yet listing him as a starter), this guy is going to be good and I would be shocked if he does not start the opener. At 6'3", the transfer from FCS Lehigh caught 122 passes for 1,989 yards over the last two years. His twitter username is also the appropriately named @GreatWhiteHopee.

    Offense -
    QB - Brent Stockstill
    WR - Gatlin Casey
    RG - Chandler Brewer
    C- Josh Fannin

    Defense -
    LB - Cody Smith
    S - Reed Blankenship

Back ups include QB Chase Cunningham, LT Luke Harris, LG Jack Mitchell, C Matt Martin, and RT Cole Kirby.

    Thanks Vanilla.

Not a team I would waste a breath on under normal circumstances but their S Reed Blankenship as Vanilla points out is a player to keep an eye on especially given the fact he played well as a true freshman. A solid all around athlete.

To me the very few bright spots here feels like an anomaly much like Miami and Berrios. Expect this team to go back to their full steam ahead caste ways. I hope they continue to pepper in key white players but I doubt it will continue.
