Great post for the most part! (although I think the black idiocy stuff on this site is over hyped. We know that there are a significant number of troubled urban athletes who grew up fatherless in drug ridden areas who don't adapt well to success and money once they get back with the "old crowd"). But I do feel the same way...I mainly root for whites because of the unfair stereotyping and b/c they usually play the underdog role b/c they don't get the credit they deserve. I actually root for blacks in sports that they are underdogs in like swimming or hockey.

I don't even mind Tiger's dominating of golf (other than the bit over the top fawning over him in the media) b/c there is no myth out there that whites are generally inferior golfers to blacks. And golf is also not a sport where the lies about tight hips or fast twitch muscles come in!

I do consider myself proud of my race and especially my Irish heritage, but don't root against black athletes for the sake of being black. I just get tired of the lies and deception and the uphill battle whites have to fight to get respect in sports.

BTW, this is a great win for Klitchko. I was a bit worried about this one I admit b/c Thompson is a hard puncher and Vlad doesn't have as much of an Iron chin as Vitali!

And I am just sick of all these idiots still talking about how Vitali couldn't beat Lennox and how the Vlad is a champ of a weak division. BTW, if Vitali didn't get that bad cut which forced stoppage against Lewis, he most likely wins that fight on points!

I feel that way because boxing is far less interesting than MMA and kickboxing, though I still watch boxing matches for belts.

Every single K-1 event is more exciting than that match. Every single one.

Wlad gave me an early birthday present. Maybe I will rewatch the fight on Monday. I enjoyed the fight. Sometimes it's good to see a fight go past 8 rounds. It just seems like the suspense builds but it was never in doubt. Wladimir should be in the top 5 boxers pound, for pound in the world. He has dominated the division even more so thatn Lennox Lewis did.

Wlad is a true warrior and will make alot of stupid fans and media cringe for a long time. He will demand their respect. Some of these people are just idiots and they would never give Wlad respect even if he were 70-0 with all knockouts. There would always be an excuse because they hate the fact that he is white! I'm loving every minute of it.

Bring on David "Gay" Haye and watch him get dropped like a box of rocks.

Klitschko did not silence his critics tonight (he never will), but he certainly did more to prove himself to those unbiased fans who weren't yet sure of his skills. What a great win!

Great post on your part Riggins. I agree with most of what you said in it and have similar feelings. I used to root for blacks in the sports they are underdogs in like Hockey and swimming like you mentioned. I for the most part don't do that anymore because I figured that the more inroads blacks make in the sports that whites dominate, then the myth of their superiority is even more firmly established. I don't hate them though and can appreciate and enjoy their success at times. I tend to root for certain blacks out of the sports world. Like the relatively few conservative blacks in politics, or the rising black middle class. The less monolithic in thought they become(92% for Obama) and the less tribal(extremely tribal) they become, the best for them and the best for us. By the way, Way to go Wlad.

Just finished watching the fight. It was a good workman like performance from Wlad. Thompson was a big and awkward fighter who had never been knocked out. As the rounds went by Wlad's jabs and lead rights started to break Thompson down. I liked how Wlad sensed it was time to end the show by attacking Thompson and finish with that overhand right in the 11th. He showed that he has acquired some killer instinct.

It was a good win and he finished it like a champ. I see his brother outclassing the clumsey Peters, especially if that fight goes past 7 rounds. Who knows, 4 months from now the brothers K will be Kings of the Heavyweight Division.

i really want to see Vlad ktfo Haye next.He mouthed off about Klitschko again last night on Setanta as he's been continuously doing even when Vlad has comported himself with humility and class in return.He's a truly repulsive,arrogant,disrespectful Black man,far worse than any of the current Black American trashtalkers,even the worst of them like Mayweather and Toney.This mans incredible.Somethings you need to experience first hand to truly know and appreciate.Its easy for Haye to watch Vlad on the box and say he'll descimate Vlad with speed angles and power ala Sanders but in the ring as soon as Klit lands a solid jab or hard straight right this mans equilibrium will go.He might not fall straight away,but his plans will go outta the window making an easier target for Vlad.A few more solid jabs and rights and Haye will be out within five rounds.You could say i dont like Haye

.I believe he should forgoe his mandatory against Povetkin even if it means dropping one of his titles and smash Haye instead.

Well done wlad yet again the myths of negro superiotey in boxing has been exposed as the lie that it is. But expecting the media to promote this excellent champion is pie in the sky. The people in the higher echolons of the press must be praying that a black hope wins who they can worship. If thompson would of won yesterday he would of been sold to the public as the undisputed champ and a would of been a household name all other the west. Hell i even think those uncontacted tribes in the amazon would of known about it.

I think you know exactly what I meant Bart. I meant why harp on a negative subject we already exhaust to death on a positive night where a a white champ shut the naysayers up again.

We know already about the idiocy of some of the black athletes out there, especially in the NBA and NFL. But I think to harp on negativity about anti-social behavior and blame it on their ethnicity (not saying Rob was saying that) is borderline breaking the rules of disparaging a race with no productive purpose behind it. I probably shouldn't have even brought this up b/c nothing bad was really said. I just get tired of the negativity. I like to come on this board and leave in a better mood than when I signed on and that isn't always the case.

I'm just happy to see a true champ shut them up again. And low and behold Yahooligan/ Rivals immediately puts up another disparaging column discrediting the white champ by pushing the myth of a weak heavy weight division. Yahoo and Rivals are enemy number one followed closely behind by the Nation of Islam and the Black Panthers. And I actually mean that, because Yahoo actually has a great deal of influence on our culture unlike the latter.

When I watched the fight live I thought Wlad was too tentative and had some stamina issues.

Watching it the second time made me realize Wlad was just being methodical and following a game plan.

Some may call his style "boring," but Wlad is now 51-3 with 45 KOs. That's a greater KO percentage than just about any champ today (besides Pavlik).

That is pretty much how I saw the fight. Who cares if he isn't flashy. A win is a win and that is all that matters. If he keeps it up, he'll be the undisputed heavyweight champ of the world. Screw yahoo and the others. They will be exposed in the end.

After reviewing the fight again, I came away with the impression that it was almost as if Wlad was 'practicing' getting into the clinch, working on his footwork, etc, as though he was sparring with Thompson, while Thompson was in a 'fight.'

I'm still not really sure how Thompson ended up the #1 contender though, lol.

Yes, that article was absolutely disgusting! As he joyfully rattled off the names of the great fighters (all were black except Quarry who got a mention) of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, suddenly stopping short of Klitschko. Heavyweight boxing WAS in a bad state in the 80's and part of the 90's. Really it was Lennox Lewis who brought it out, and now a slew of white heavyweights who are constantly moving this era even higher.

Just remember, that Klitschko fight last night was sold out in the arena, and broadcast to some 100 different countries! That doesn't sound like a division in much trouble to me. Finally we can have a true WORLD Heavyweight Champion, and division, because a fighter from any country can now participate. Next time someone brings up Ali or Foreman or Holmes, use the baseball excuse ("Babe Ruth never played against blacks") against them. Tell them that those guys never fought against Eastern Europeans!

I have seen many fighters over the years and I have never seen one as dominating as vlad, all of his wins by decision arent even close, he won almost every round. He beat the number one contender easily saturday night, you cant hardly even hit him with more than one punch at a time, the way he wins and dominates his opponents is amazing. Vlad should be in the hall of fame right now.

i watched the fight on my hotbird satellite and got to choose between german/russian/american casts> i dont speak german but i noticed one announcer/ same in russian and even in the uk> it seems its only the us that has a panel of clowns to talk bs and cover sports events>
any how, vlad fought a very good fight. why should he have gone for a ko right away , as some posters expect. he was fighting a 1.93m tall, left handed fighter, 36 year old guy from a tough urban area. HE DID THE RIGHT THING, by protecting, wearing down and then finishing him off when he felt it was possible w/o exposing him self to danger>
also i thought ruiz and arreola were white americans, they look european spanish?

Arreola is clearly non-white. He looks very indian in his features, so any Spanish (from Mexican) in him is probably very watered down. Ruiz is Puerto Rican.
