Will Jordy crack the first round?

I really don't think Jordy will slide past the 2nd Rd. Even though we all know he is easily talented enough to go in the 1st and be the #1 WR taken.

Jordy certainly is rising. Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune also lists Jordy as a riser. Believe me, I highly doubt he'll slip past the 2nd round:

Jordy Nelson, Kansas State WR: He has grown steadily on scouts, going from a fourth-round pick to perhaps a late second-rounder. Nelson hasn't done anything spectacular in the postseason, but everything he has done has been pretty good.

Pete Fiutak from Foxsports.com lists Jordy as his 4th best WR. Here's what he wrote.

Ultra-productive in his senior year no matter who covered him or what any defense tried to do, Nelson blew up into an unstoppable machine any time he touched the ball. While he's not going to blow past anyone and he's not as physical as his size might show, but he has functional speed and can separate when needed. Outside of a serious injury, there's no bust potential whatsoever. He plays hurt, has nice hands, and can be used in a variety of ways. He'll have a 10-year career as a complimentary receiver. If he goes to a team with a star No. 1, he'll be outstanding.

I really think Jordy will likely go ahead of Malcolm Kelly in this draft despite what the idiot annalists are saying. With two very successful 1000 yard white WRs last year in the NFL and Anthony Gonzalez looking good as a rookie, GMs won't deny Jordy's significantly better athletic measurables and statistical production than Malcolm's. Jordy may go ahead of Mario Manningham and Andre Caldwell too. Jordy is a little faster than Mario, isn't a headcase like Mario, was more productive and is bigger.

I'd like to see Jordy go to Buffalo in the mid second round, the team many people are projecting Kelly to go to. Buffalo would be a good team to root for then w/ their already white friendly defense.

I think Jordy will be the 5th WR off the board after Thomas, Hardy, Sweed, and Jackson this year. That's my prediction. What do you chaps predict?

I've said all along to my friend who's a KC fan that the chiefs should look to trade down and get a low 2nd rounder to get Jordy, but now with most of the top affletes draft stock going down I don't think it would be a reach to get him at the 37th overall. That is if they got an OT in round one... they have so many holes...

cool, Mayock has someweight around draftnik community. that means he is basically a lock to be off boards by the end of the second round.

Let me guess? It was either the slower Mario Manningham (who ran a 4.6 electronic timed 40 & now has weed allegations against him) or the even slower Kelly (who showed immaturity for blasting his school for making him run on a supposedly slow field turf surface, when that is what most NFL teams play on. And then followed up by running a barely better 4.65 on Astro-turf.) I'm going to go ahead and guess Kelly dropped out of Mayock's top 5, since that is more recent news.

He dropped Kelly out of his top 5. Manningham is #4.
Jordy has been showing up in the top half of the 2nd round in more mocks these days. He's stood tall while the other candidates have weeded themselves out with lackluster workouts or character and legal issues. He's one of the only reasons I'll be watching the draft.

I'm going out on a limb and saying that Jordy will be off the board by the 40th pick.


Sadly, I don't see another White Wide Receiver being selected for probably 120 or so selections. But lets hope I'm wrong on that second prediction.

My "exact words" were heeded by Mike Mayock. I said specifically that Jordy Nelson was a better WR than Malcolm Kelly "a full two months ago." Now, low and behold, Mike Mayock dropped Malcolm Kelly out of his top 5 WRs for 2008 and entered Jordy Nelson in. These guys should hire me as a scout! I always had Jordy as my 5th best WR in this draft, way before Mayock. Jordy "runs close to as good routes" as Kelly and is both quicker, faster and more agile than Kelly and has only been playing WR for 3 yrs in his entire life so he can improve on his route running=more upside. Jordy is just as physical and tough as Kelly and adjusts to the ball "almost as well." Jordy has just as good hands as Kelly.

My analysis: Notice that I fairly argue for white players w/o seeming over the top. That is how we have to do it. We can't seem out of it to the general public. We can "plant the idea in drunken fans heads" about the truth of white players being discriminated against w/o being found out to be Castefootball.com members. If they find out we are regular posters here on Castefootball.com, they will unfairly label us as having an agenda. This is despite having truth on our side!

Jamie Duke of NFL network had positive words for Jordy tonight on Path to the Draft. He talked about Jordy's sprinter background and noted his game day speed and ability to get separation from cornerbacks.Edited by: jared

Gil Brandt of NFL.com has Jordy in his top 50 prospects and says he has a shot of moving into his "4th tier" of prospects (31-40). I don't think he can sneak into the first round but I see him going in the top half of the 2nd round.

Now that the Chiefs traded Jared Allen I'm seriuosly thinking they'll take Jordy with the 17th pick. They need WRs and the local boy would be a popular choice or the Chiefs might ASSume Jordy will fall to them at pick #35.

he's the pick at 35, put you money on it. They won't take him at 17 because they know he will be there at 35

Nelson needs to gettaken by a team that has a good passing game. The Chiefs don't and I'm not particularly hopeful that it will improve soon. The Redskins are another team that has shown a lot of interest in Nelson. The verdict so far doesn't look good on Jason Campbell. It's very rare when a black WR thrives with a black QB throwing him the ball, much less a white one. The last thing we need is a repeat of what happened to Matt Jones.

Damn I wish the Browns didn't trade their 1-3 Rd draft picks. Jordy would have looked great in the orange and brown.
