I always get more excited by White vs. Negro fights.

People like Max Kellerman are always trying to convince the public that Whites are athletically inferior, I love it when people prove him wrong.
Same, but whites dominate the sport so we gotta accept some all white match ups.

I recall that clown Kellerman saying some dumb **** like that years ago, surely he doesn't still say stuff like that now! I mean look who the best p4p fighters are.

I'm gutted that Stanionis- Butaev is happening.. two of my favourite prospects. Stanionis. instead of facing Ugas as mandatory took step aside money to allow Ugas-Spence and now faces Butaev in a harder fight but a worthless belt! Unbelievable, I'm disapointed Stanionis has done that, must be for money reasons smh.

9th round TKO for Joe Smith Jr.
I admittedly missed the first three rounds as I was listening to the Bills game winding down and doing housework but unless Geffrard suddenly got passive after 3 rounds the fight was largely a one sided beat down and by about the 7th round the referee was within his rights to give a warning to the corner of the challenger that he would stop the fight if Geffrard wasn't going to fight back as he was taking a frightful beat down.

The win sets Smith up for bigger fights against Bertebiev or a dream cash out match(unless he wins) against Alvarez who should try and at least pot shot a title at 175 if not try and permanently plant a flag in the division after he probably disposes of the African patsy WBC champion at cruiserweight.

PS this fight was amusing in a caste sense as I remember watching network tv title fights between Bob Foster and a slew of club fighters who were mostly White and the worm has definitely turned as Geffrard would have been at home with the opponents that Foster beat upon.

At the weigh in Beterbiev was 175 on the nose and Smith was 174 and change and both look fit and ready to go. Smith is an 8 to 1 dog according to various sports books but he is fighting in his hometown and is from Huntington NY(the same town as Gerry Cooney). I don't think being a road warrior will faze Beterbiev as he has been a road warrior his entire career as he has been based out of Montreal since he turned pro.

If Smith can take Bertebiev's power this fight could be interesting as Artur has been out boxed in spurts by lesser fighters.

Smith had never before been knocked down in the amateurs or the pros, but he went down 3 times (actually 4, the first one the ref didn't count) in less than two rounds against Beterbiev.

Looks like my if was IF in capital letters. Just frightening wrecking ball power in the bomb throwing Chechen's fists. No wonder Alvarez never mentioned him as potential opponent. A fight between the Chechen and Bivol would be an intriguing bout. I just hope boxing politics and purse demands don't get in the way of the fight happening.

Smith tried to duke it out instead of boxing and trying to take it into later rounds, big mistake! I like Smith and hope he bounces back but I don't see any reason for a rematch. Would love to see Beterbiev fight Canelo or Bivol.

Beterbiev wants Bivol but Arum wants him to fight some retread in England first for the payday.

I think Smith figured Beterbiev would check his chin sooner or later so Joe just figured let's go for it and I'll check his chin. The results showed why he was an 8-1 underdog.

Joe's a good tough fighter and a hard working guy (construction). Hope he got a good payday.

Beterbiev made quick work of Joe. That's crazy, figured he'd last at least until the 5th/6th.
