Since 2005, Kansas has started 10, 9, 9, 12, 11, 10, 7, 9, 5, 4, 4, 6, 5, 5, 2, and 2 white starters. In 2021 they look to move all the way up to 7!

Definitely trending in the right direction but will still probably be a terrible team. Potter and Channel combined for 9 starts last season and look to hold those starting jobs with Dineen joining them (Wow was I wrong). Luke Grimm became a starting WR towards the end of the season last year. Hoping Texas Tech transfer WR Kevin Terry can enter the WR rotation, ourlads has him as Grimm’s backup.

OFFENSE
TE Mason Fairchild (JR)
FB Ben Miles (SR)
C Mike Novitsky (JR)
RG Colin Grunhard (JR)
RT Bryce Cabeldue (FR)

DEFENSE
DT Sam Burt (SR)
LB Gavin Potter (JR)

Players to watch: RB Rob Fiorentino, FB Spencer Roe, WR Luke Grimm, WR Kevin Terry, TE Trevor Kardell, TE Will Huggins, C Colin Grunhard, OT Jackson Satterwhite, OT Bryce Cabeldue, DE Hayden Hatcher, LB Jay Dineen, LB Nich Channel

Big jump up for Kansas, especially considering they only have 1 Snowplow on that line!

Snow Patrol along with Grimm at WR is cool though!

**No White QB on 2 deep sucks!

in a state that is over 86% White and a mere 6% black, i guess we at Caste Football are the only folks who find it “weird” that the state university is nearly absent it’s state’s majority demographic. of course, i suppose it’s because “the best players play” or some such ...

*updated to reflect the official depth chart*

Wow I was way off but I got the number right. Unfortunately WR Luke Grimm and LB’s Nick Channel and Jay Dinnen are not starters like me and ourlads thought. However 2 more OL and DT Sam Burt will be starting this year so they still will start 7. Gavin Potter, Channel, and Dineen are all listed at the same LB position, how dumb is that?

Things looking up immediately in the post Les Miles era. The nice thing about the Kansas job is that you can't really do any worse than the coach you are replacing.

Miles got canned for being clumsy in his pursuit of coed tail. He was never reprimanded for running a sloppy plantation, or "lack of institutional control" if you prefer. Here's a recap of last summer's non-scandal, where Kansas paid a (white) former walk-on $50k to leave campus and finish his degree remotely after feuding with his (black) teammates over their selling drugs. The original story from the Kansas City Star has been paywalled, but this link recounts the gist of it. One important detail omitted was that the black players, after bum-rushing the white player's apartment and confronting his parents inside, said they would accuse him of being a racist.

REPORT: Kansas Paid Caperton Humphrey More Than $50,000 To Stay Silent About Threats From His Teammates
By David Hookstead
July 11, 2021

Former Kansas football player Caperton Humphrey was allegedly paid to stay silent about threats from his teammates.

According to a shocking piece from The Kansas City Star, Humphrey was allegedly harassed and threatened by his unnamed teammates after he reported that some were selling drugs and had issues with them. He filed a police report after lug nuts on his vehicle were allegedly loosened and then called the police after multiple individuals broke into his residence and threatened him.

How did Kansas respond? They reportedly paid him more than $50,000 to go home and not speak about what had happened.

What was former head coach Les Miles’ solution? He wanted the players on both sides of the dispute to “settle their differences on the practice field, pitting them against each other — head-on — in full-contact drills.”

In the end, Caperton claims the school chose the teammates threatening him over him as they paid him to leave.

Miles has since been relieved of his coaching duties at Kansas following issues from his days while at LSU.

Judging from the allegations made by Caperton, the situation in Lawrence was out of control even prior to Miles getting the boot.

You simply can’t have players allegedly threatening their teammates and then paying off the alleged victim to go away.

What an absolutely awful look for Kansas, Miles and everyone else involved. It’s clear that new head coach Lance Leipold has his work cut out for him.
