Ooh, that looked good. He gave about 90 percent. How many guys can win that easy from lane 8.

He looks so much stronger than when he was in high school.

It looked as though he eased off at around 75m, should hit low 10-10.05 if he has a clean well executed race.

Matthew Boling just went sub 10 windy for the 2nd time in his brief career. He finished 2nd in the 2021 SEC Champs 100 Meters Finals. He had a bad start and left way too much ground to make up but
this is still another incredible performance by Boling. Ths Wonder Kid continues to amaze. Matthew Boling has arrived and the world is taking notice! :)

Matthew Boling finishes in 3rd in the 200 meters finals at the 2021 SEC Championships. The good news is that he ran a new personal best time of 20.06! He lost out on 2nd place by 1/100th of a second! This
is a very good time for Boling. No matter how disapointed we are that he lost remember he is getting better with each and every race. He is learning how to compete at the highest level. I'm not sad but pumped
that he set another p.b. and it's only a matter of time before Boling goes sub 10 and sub 20 wind legal. We have a new star in US Track emerging! :)

Thanks for posting these videos! Boling has quickly become one of my favorite athletes to follow in any sport. I agree with the optimism from his consistent bettering of his personal records.

Matthew continues to chip away at his bests. His 100 with a good legal wind would have been a PB too. He'll have to just patiently take his time - but it is great to have a sprinter of Laird's standard to drive him onwards.
His 200 was much closer to Laird viz-a-viz distance covered indicating his quite mediocre 100 start may have cost him .05 or so.

Right WL. Boling will be pushed to perform at his very best as there were five Freshmen in the 200 final. Fahnbulleh and Lang will be there over the next two years to give Boling all he wants, but that's a good thing. BTW, I don't get the Freshman designation for Boling. He's a Sophomore academic wise. I thought Laird was a Senior? Something to do with Covid?
Explain?

All scholarship athletes were given an automatic 5th year because some seasons were shortened or cancelled or started at weird points in the season. In track and field few athletes complete their scholarship if they feel they are able to turn pro and get Diamond League lanes and sponsorship by Nike, Adidas or Puma.

I believe they are classified different for outdoors as the whole season was canceled in the U.S. last summer. I believe losing that extra year of outdoors has also slowed down Boling a little but nothing
will stop him in the end. He is as confident as they come while still being a great guy. He doesn't feel the need to show off or gloat when he wins. A rare quality to be so confident yet remain humble. I have
no doubt about the kid. Just imagine the white kids in America thinking that they can compete with anyone as we are seeing more white sprinters emerge. The Caste Systems Worst Nightmare. The powers that
be want all whites to feel inferior physically. They do this through racism and stereotypes! Whites need to know that they can compete and not buy into the psychological war against them.

For those American Track and Field Historians here Bolings career reminds me of the great Kevin Little who was a american sprinter from about 30 years ago.

Kevin Littles life time best were as follows:

100 meters 10.14
200 meters 20.10

Indoor 200 meters 20.32

So as a 20 year old kid who missed all of last summer due to the canceled season he has already surpassed Kevin Little in every category. That should give you a little of
an idea as to Bolings Immense Talent! Be patient gentlemen. This kid is going to do things that are even hard to imagine.

So, Laird although with another to compete in the SEC will no doubt go ahead and turn pro? Boling will not, as he needs to fine tune his form and work on his start.

Yes, there isn't much benefit in being an NCAA athlete as you can't keep pro meet appearance or placing cheques. Many times guys like Degrasse or back in the day Wariner head to a major meet as an amateur and then place highly and win X in prize money and are offered X by a shoe company, virtually nobody goes back to the NCAA level.

Shoot because track and field is truly an amateur sport under the table money is at a bare minimum so even that can't tempt you to stay "amateur".

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed Boling got whupped so easily by Laird. Their indoor rivalry was close, but Laird is so far ahead now. And not even 2nd place in the 200 ☹ I hoped the extra year might give Matt a chance to make the Olympic team for one or both sprints but that's not gonna happen.

When I first saw him I thought we might have a Bolt on our hands, but no. Seems to be a trend among our guys: Shirvo, Pickering, Lemaitre.....great starts to their careers which they never live up to.

This is essentially his first year as a college athlete and his times are improving, he is far from spinning his wheels at this point.

By the way is your salsa spiked with LSD?

Shirvo ran his best time aged 19. Pickering and Lemaitre went backwards from their early 20s. From hoping to make the Olympic team to finishing 3rd in a regional college meet is not progress.

No need for the snark. Just saying.

You both have valid points.
Boling has improved, as his 200m time today was a PB.
However, he has not improved as much as expected, or as much as he should have, just based on his indoor season times and races with Laird.
He was the indoor NCAA 200m champion, and now he came in 3rd at the outdoor conference meet.

But I think it's too early to come to any conclusions either way.
Let's see what he does at the NCAA Regionals and Finals.

It's the deepest conference in sprinting and there is no way that his 10.11 is going to be his high water mark in the century, his speed endurance is too good.

The only problem that he has is that US is so deep that quality sprinters don't make national teams that in theory could make world finals. This is especially the case now that Jamaican Yams have lost some of their radioactive powers picture Mrs. Howell from Gilligan's Island and the radioactive beets.

Thanks for posting the videos WL. I was no where near the internet today so I missed both runs.

I am impressed with his 100m. He had a horrible start and ran down everyone except Laird. With a good start he will go sub 10 legal this year. Matt is just not a pro yet. He will develop a lot over the next three years and be a world star in Athletics.

His 200m was ugly with not being able to hold his speed over the last 30m and he still had a PB. He will go sub 20.00s very soon.

Matthew Boling is a fine talent and I reckon he's done well enough at these championships to be pleased but - with a plan towards improvement. He's now a month shy of turning 21.

But putting things into perspective, searchinh today I see plenty of guys we've barracked for having run better 100 times at the same age, and 3 who've matched of equalled his 200.
* Guliyev ran 10.08 (career best 9.97) and 20.04 (career best 19.76) at 19 years and 1 month
* Lemaitre 10.04 (career best 9.92) at 19 yrs and 1 month and 20.16 (career best 19.80) at 20 y and 1 mth
* Gemili 10.04 (career best 9.97) at Boling's age and 19.98 at 19 years 10 months (a year younger than Boling)
All of these guys have multiple medals in major championships.

So, as good as he is, we now see him approaching a bigger stage and have no idea what will happen and when it will. I've determined just to patiently await what's around the corner. I'm not disappointed with his losses to Laird who is in impeccable form (but 20 months older and that's important as far as experience and development goes).

By the way, Laird ran him down about 2 metres in the relay leg and must be near top of the world tree now.

Firstly ..laird was well seen from along way out ...since h.S.....and indeed so was fahnbullah........boling Is the real deal ...doubling in both ...remember both his times are world rankings ......the thing is laird has an absolute guru as a coach ..ie ..boo shaxnayder....so for me pure sprint coach wise laird is getting the better deal .....but boling progression is solid ...but his start is still not good enough..otherwise he would have run 9.8s in the 100 ....and he looked out of gas in the 200 final ....both are great work ons .....boling still has a massive upside ....and at the same time ..he is performing well .....he is a competitor ....the future is bright ...whereas I think laird has been wrapped in cotton wool at LSU by shaxnayder. ......great sec competition ....really world standard ...
