All White Super Fight Alvarez Vs Saunders

Alvarez is called a “Mexican”. Mexicans are not a race but a group of people that form a country. Saunders calls himself a “Traveler”. A Traveler is not a race but a life choice. Our eyes do not deceive us, these two fighters are White.

Man vs. Man

Alvarez is less mobile, shorter, slower, has less reach, but has timing, instinct, position, control, torso and head which move like a bobble-toy, and remarkable counter-punching technique which is his most impressive ability. He doesn’t just defend but uses defense as a weapon whereby he makes his opponents miss and counters causing most of his opponents to throw lighter which makes his chin seem even better than it already is. Sometimes his opponents will not throw at all as they are actually hit lighter when Alvarez is on the attack than when he counter-punches. His power is very good but he’s doesn’t have sledgehammer hands like Lemieux or Kovalev. That is, he has a high caliber shot but not a grenade launcher. He is very strong and not easy to tie up, and with his strength he can make opponents expend themselves trying to hold onto him. Well balanced, he is extremely difficult to fake out of position and flank attack. He has lately shown flawless endurance and likes to work at a high, constant pace. Canelo, as he is known, is not a fake, fabricated, pampered star he truly is great.

Saunders is taller, longer, and highly mobile; not only has he fast feet, but he knows the dance steps. With his footwork he has great control of distance and can command the ring by choosing when to fight and when to flee. At his weight he is the quarter mile king. Also fast on the draw, he hasn’t lost a gunfight for he always shoots first. He can punch hard, and also possess a high caliber shot, but prefers to use machine gun combinations rather than be a single-shot sniper. With great endurance, he can scream his ten cylinder engine in any and every round. He can employ a wide range of tactics and punches and commix his tactics with subtle changes to confuse his opponents who wind up weary from his raids. Saunders is somewhat of a braggart but has earned his rank from victories not stories.

How Does Alvarez Do It?

Imagine the ring as a dart board and Alvarez standing in the bulls eye position; everywhere he stands he keeps the bulls eye position. Just as a racer who controls the inside of a corner makes his opponents take the long way around him if they want to pass, a fighter that controls the center of the circle makes his opponents travel longer distances to try to flank him. With the centre position, and always his hands on the trigger ready to counter-shot, and his twisting-turning upper body movement and head, his opponents (except GGG) cannot land without getting hit.

How Does Saunders Do It?

With his sound fundamentals, athleticism, refined technique, and speed, Saunders overwhelms his opponents. Speed is velocity; quickness is reaction: Saunders has both. His opponents cannot match his application of his skills because he is always first and they are trying to react to him. He can take a punch but hasn’t had to take much in his pro career because he defends on his way into attacks. However, he hasn’t fought the likes of Canelo.

The Battle

Set behind a tight guard and confidence of a cat, General Guerrero Canelo maintains the centre circle of the ring never retreating out of it forcing the traveler Saunders to cover more distance from the outside of the circle to try to raid Canelo with a hit and run strategy. The ring is large and the floor tight so Saunders will be able to try blitzkrieg tactics in an attempt to stretch Canelo out and in his efforts to reach for him. The boxer-mover usually has the advantage in the early rounds but General Canelo will adjust to Saunders’ tactics and time Saunders’ assaults with his brilliant counter-attacks. Much will happen beyond the eye of the fan as these two think, react, and adjust faster than fans can see.

The Outcome

The outcome is likely already known to the promoter, the judges, and probably the fighters. Alvarez will not lose in Latino Texas. Hearn, the fight promoter has both fighters in his stable so he cannot lose either. Neither fighter will get seriously hurt. Alvarez cannot be beat on points at this time in his career and certainly not in Latino Texas. Saunders will do well to hit and run and frustrate Alvarez if he can and thus looking good is a win for him. Boxing at this level is more business than sport and I suspect the fight to be judged a draw as a second fight would make more money than this fight which is already “packing them in” while the producers are “raking in” the dollars.

Should be a great fight, I hope I can watch this one. I have to put my money on Canelo but I’ll be rooting for Saunders. I think Canelo will just be too much for Saunders to handle. Canelo really hasn’t ever seemed to get hurt in his fights, and that’s going to have to happen in my opinion for someone to take him off his game plan and drag him into the deep end and ultimately beat him. Saunders will have to fight the perfect fight to win this one I think.

Very educational analysis Ambrose. I'm going to re-read it before I watch the fight.

I will beg to differ on Saunder's Traveler status. I believe it's something they are born into. You can't decide one day to become a Traveler.

As much as Canelo building his legacy is fine I have to side with Saunders, nothing personal against Canelo but the system and world of color will side with Canelo and treat him as a nonwhite regardless of his phenotype and race. If there isn't a nonwhite savior to step to the plate, they will side with the "less" white guy.

An interesting thing is that there have been calls for Canelo to fight Andrade and other blacks most of whom's resumes pale in comparison to the Europeans, Canelo is apparently afraid of the slickness and dark complexion of the black fighters. Canelo is apparently "ducking" them even if there is little reason to fight most of them. Most black boxing fans seem to reserve similar contempt for Canelo as they have for European fighters.

What's the definition of a Traveler as it's being used in this thread?

He was once. Miguel Cotto's brother nailed him and put him on queer street for 10 seconds.

Thanks! Should be a very technical fight. After all that is being said by everyone from both camps, good sportsmanship will still be present.

Thanks! In amusing contradiction to Saunder's "Traveler" status, he has made an intentional, deliberate, and specific effort to buy land with the money he has made so far in his career. I presume he won't be travelling anymore -with the exception in this fight ;).

Thanks for that! Since the Plandemic not many compelling sporting events have taken place. This fight is an exception.

From what I understand Saunders is a Romanichal Gypsy, who are different from Irish or English Travelers. The latter are native to the British Isles, while the Romanichal originated in India. The Irish Travelers, among whom Tyson Fury and Andy Lee can be counted, look and are white, while Saunders looks white and I'm confused.

Should be an interesting fight.

Yes Saunders has an ethnic flag, what Indian blood he has is probably very limited as he doesn't look Indian at all. The Gypsy clans arrived in GB in the 16th century and many probably took White poor woman as brides when they were established and "wealthier". I doubt Saunders speaks the Asian language, but he probably knows the scams and might know some of the trade work Gypsy men did for generations.

This fight boils down to whether Saunders can get the space to breath and box, if he does he has chance to pull of the upset, if not he lose widely on points and possibly gets ko'd or rescued by his corner or the referee. Even if he boxes Canelo's ears off he will need to win these rounds decisively or he will get robbed as we saw in the two GGG fights.

PS Gypsy people have been involved in British boxing for centuries I recall the trainer of Zelko M. being a Gypsy and he was of the stereotypical look and he had an English surname of Smith. He trained Zelko for his title challenge of Lennox Lewis 20+ years ago.

PS 2 This fight may start in early evening as British tv may have this fight on PPV so pay attention to the start time as I have missed a few of these British boxer vs American boxer clashes have started in British prime time even when the fights have been in North America. The proposed Fury vs Joshua clash will have a early evening start time because of the bigger money being in England.

Saunders is without a doubt white. You won't find very many romanichal gypsy in the British Isles that look like they are from the sub continent anymore.

Here is my prediction. After 5 rounds, BJS will be up 3 rounds based on his outstanding boxing skills and footwork. Come round 6, Canelo steps on the gas and starts to touch BJS ribs and body. Come round 8 close fight with Canelo edging and getting rounds 6, and 7. BJS gets the 8 with his boxing skills. Come round 9, the crucible begins. Canelo knows the ring like his living room. He will be relaxed and have the stamina and endurance to now walk down BJS and punish him to the body and head. What does BJS have to answer? That is is the question. If he can move and pile up points while avoiding Canelo's crisp shots to the body and head he can get the decision, at least in the eyes of the viewers, but we know who the cash cow is and that means Canelo will get the decision if it is close. BJS toyed with Lemuix 3 years ago. Canelo is no Lemuix. Intriguing fight, especially if BJS is in the best condition of his life. My prediction: Canelo with a late-round TKO. with BJS showing he belonged in the ring with the current PFP fighter.

Canelo has by fought higher caliber fighters.

Just how strong is Saunders is my question and will his punch mean anything to Canelo. Both have skills but Canelo hits harder. If Saunders is strong enough to take a punch and fire back with some pop this could be a really good fight.

Maybe straight from the Captain Obvious boxing gym?

Whaddya want, I ain't no Ambrose.

Funny ending to the bout. Saunders' corner stops the fight for a mouse ha ha! One would think at that level Saunders would have the best of corner men who could handle swelling like they could do in the '40s, '50s? With Saunders legs still fresh could he not have run for a couple of rounds to buy time to fix his eye? Was Saunders' corner told to fold?

Big win for Alvarez nonetheless. As expected he was a gentleman and a modest victor. That 360 degree turret he operates behind is lethal.

It almost ended as I predicted. BJS went out like a bitch. It was a competitive fight.! Yet BJS got cracked in the left eye and took a way out after round 8. Canelo to date stays calm and believes in his abilities. BJS took the easy way out. Fraud. When Canelo fights Caleb, it will be similar, in that I hope Caleb will go out on his shield.

I tend to think he has broken orbital bone as that eye was swollen within a half round, I agree his corner probably should have given him a round or so to see if he could try and fight with the pain even if he basically ran like a thief.

That said he was way down on the scorecards and probably wasn't going to win the fight officially as he never hurt Alvarez in the fight.

Once again when fighters taste Alvarez's power they fight with extreme caution, in the Lemieux fight Saunders moved more and fired more combos.

Plant who has never fought anybody close to pound for pound level will be hard pressed to even fight at the Saunders level.

Some say Saunders may have a fractured orbital. If that's the case I can understand calling it a day.
Really?? I remember when Marciano fought several rounds with a split nose, by Ezzard Charles, yet he fought on to win on a KO over Charles. No excuses. BJS looked for a way out and he got it. Next up is Plant, We shall see if he goes out bombing.

I can't recall any big fights where a guy got a broken orbital bone and won, I recall Ali going the distance with a broken jaw and Morrison ko'ing Joe Hipp with one.

After Canelo blows through another opponent the greatness of GGG keeps on shining through as he arguably won 2 bouts against and wobbled him in their rematch. Everybody else has been ground down like hamburger meat.

Maybe Saunders did get a bone cracked? Fighters have fought and won with much worse. Smith went the distance with less skill.

Plant will be target practice for Alvarez.
