Matt McClung scored 23 pts today to help the Hoyas beat a very talented Marquette team who are lead by the Hauser Boys. This kids can play
but I was rooting for Georgetown & McClung as they are fighting to try to make the ncaa tounament. It was a sensational game.

McClung’s 23 points came on only 8 field goal attempts (he made 5), which is an outstanding efficiency rate. Marquette couldn’t guard him and his penetration, and as a result he got to the free throw line for 14 attempts. an impressive outing for the freshman.

Marquette, sadly, isn’t led by the Hauser brothers. they’re led by the chucker, Howard. he can put up a lot of points when he gets hit, but he will also shoot you out of it when he’s cold. that’s what happened today. he went a miserable 8 for 25 from the floor.

**************

if you haven’t watched Dylan Windler play, tonight is your chance. he and his Belmont Bruins (including a couple of talented freshmen) face off against Murray State and their talented (and hyped to the heavens) point guard on national television.

Unfortunately, minus their starting center in Nick Muszynski, the Bruins lost a tough-fought game to Murray State. I have absolutely zero faith they'll be in the Big Dance as an at-large. The committee ALWAYS screws over a team like Belmont. It's going to be an absolute shame Windler and Co. will not be playing in the Tournament.

In some more bad mid-major news, South Dakota State and Mike Daum were upset in the Summit League Tournament tonight by the 8 seed, so Daum will not be in the Dance this year. That sucks; America is getting deprived of a chance to see one of the best at the college level. Loyola-Chicago, although not the team they were last year, were upset by nearly all-black Bradley. The Ramblers were still fairly white-friendly, so it's a tough loss. #5 Bradley plays #4 seed Northern Iowa (3/5 starters) tomorrow for the MVC autobid, so this situation isn't totally bleak in the MVC.

Mitch Ballock had an amazing game for Creighton tonight against DePaul. Ballock had 39 points on just 14 shot attempts and 5 free throws. He was 12-14 from the field and 4-5 from the line. Creighton has been playing themselves back into bubble contention. Martin Krampelj had 23 points and 10 boards as well.

Ty Jerome had an outstanding game for Virginia today, with 24 points, 6 assists, and 4 boards against a feisty Louisville team. The Cavaliers secured the No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament and won a share of the ACC title. Big man Jay Huff hit some HUGE threes for Virginia today.

Oregon State's Tres Tinkle has been on a TEAR lately. The Beavers have lost 3 of 4, but Tinkle has been a FORCE, averaging over 26 PPG in their last four! Hopefully the Beavers can make a run in the Pac-12 tournament. They're third in the Pac-12, and they've lost a few heartbreakers down the stretch, so they are certainly capable of competing with the conference's best.

One other performance I'd like to mention from Thursday: Cal's freshman center Connor Vanover dominated Stanford to the tun of 24 points, 5 boards, and 6 blocks! The 7'3 freshman looks like he'll have a bright career for the Bears.

A team thats flown unnoticed much of the season is Wofford who are now ranked #22 after beating VMI tonight 99 to 72. Led by Sr. G Fletcher Magee 6'4 195 who round out the season avg 20.7 ppg, and is also a 2019 NBA draft prospect as a lights out 3pt shooter in the mold of JJ Redick! Patterning with Magee inbthe back-court is Jr. G Nate Hoover 6'4 190 avg 13 ppg, and So. PG Storm Murphy 5'11 180 avg 8 ppg and 3.4 assts. Throw in Sr. C Matt Pegram 6'11 260 avg 5.4 ppg and 4 rpg and you got a team with 4 white starters that should make a deep run in the NCAA totournament!

Another team with a white back-court that should go deep in March is #8 ranked Texas Tech who beat Iowa St tonigh 80-73! With Grad Sr. G Matt Mooney 6'3 200 finishing the regular season avg 10.8 ppg 3 rpg and 3.2 apg, and Italian starting PG So. Davide Morretti 6'2 185 avg 11.3 ppg and 2.5 apg.

Also I want to mention West Virginia Fr. PG Jordan McCabe 6'0 180 who recently won the starting job and has put up amazing numbers the last 3 weeks! In McCabes last 5 games hes dropped 14 pts, 25, 25, 18, and 12 pts! While we won't see WVU or McCabe as they finished at the bottom of the BIG-12, McCabe is a future player to watch with an NBA future!

I'm glad to see Wofford pull it out tonight. They are a pretty fun team to watch, and I think will win a game in the Big Dance. Magee had a good game, but it was Nathan Hoover who carried the Terriers in the 2nd Half. Over a stifling UNCG defense, Hoover caught fire in the 2nd half, with 20 points (all in the 2nd) to help Wofford pull away from the Spartans, who had a great effort from senior guard Francis Alonso, who had 21 points in the loss.

I'm glad one of these conference title games finally went our way after watching Lipscomb, Belmont, and Northern Iowa blow their games over the weekend. Those schools have a combined 10 white starters out of 15, plus a BUNCH of white role players. Their replacements in the Dance? 2 out of 15, and nearly no white subs. It was a disappointing weekend, especially watching Northern Iowa blow a 23(!!) point second half lead to Bradley yesterday. We lost out on a LOT of potential white stars who could've been playing. Iowa continues to shoot itself in the foot, blowing a 9 points lead in the final minute of their game to lose at Nebraska. I guess it kept with the theme of the day where most of the white-friendly teams weren't able to finish their games. I am glad to see Wisconsin ended up beating Ohio State after blowing a 20 points second half lead to buck the trend set by the earlier games.

Despite these setbacks, there are still a few smaller conference teams who've got a shot to make it. Northeastern is one such team. They outlasted Charleston 70-67. Their leader is senior PG Vasa Pusica, a long guard who can make the winning plays. He had 13 points, 7 assists, and 5 boards tonight.

John Konchar and PFW had a tough loss in their conference tournament tonight, but the team that beat them, Omaha, has a couple of white forwards in Mitch Hahn and Matt Pile, who are two of the three best players on the Mavericks roster. Hahn had 16 and 7 tonight, and Pile had 9 points and 11 boards.

The Wright State Raiders, who have 4 white starters, won against Green Bay to advance to the Horizon Championship Game. Billy Wampler led the Raiders with 18 points.

Wow!! White-friendly St. Mary's who start three whites and had four on the court for long stretches in the 2nd half tonight, upsets #1 Gonzaga to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament!! After a weekend where the games didn't go our way, it was great seeing the Gaels control the game against Gonzaga, winning 60-47. It is amazing how the Gaels' defense shut down the high-powered Zags. Big man Jordan Hunter was huge in the win, bagging a double double with 12 points and 15 boards. Guard Tanner Krebs had 13 points and 3 steals, and mixed guard Jordan Ford (who's a pretty good player) led the way with 17 points. Awesome win for the Gaels, and another team to cheer for next week!!

Speaking of teams to root for, Northeastern upset all-black Hofstra to win the CAA Championship. Leading the way was stud PG Vasa Pusica, who finished with a team high 21. Bolden Brace, the Huskies' second white starter, nearly had a triple double with 10 points, 10 boards, and 9 assists. Tomas Murphy had a nice game off the bench with 11 points, 2 boards, and 2 assists.

Another bid was secured by the Northern Kentucky Norse of the Horizon League. The Norse start two white players, who are their top two scorers. Forward Drew McDonald knocked down the game-winner last night, and is the Horizon Player of the Year. He was solid tonight, with 13 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists. Tyler Sharpe, a former Louisville walk-on, had an off game, but still had 11 points. Massive center Chris Vogt comes in off the bench for them. Although the beat a whiter team in Wright State (4 white starters) Northern Kentucky is still a good team to root for with their best two players being white.

Notre Dame swept aside George Tech in the 1st round of the ACC Tournament, the Irish won't go dancing, but it'll be good experience for their young lineup. John Mooney continued his strong play with 20 points and 10 boards. Dane Goodwin had 15 points, and Nate Laszewski had 14 points.

we don’t often mention lady’s basketball, but if you’re interested then check out Iowa’s dominant center, Megan Gustafson. the nation’s leading scorer AND top percentage shooter (70% from the floor!!!), Gustafson scored 45 in the Big Ten Championship game, and nearly all-White Iowa (4 White starters and only two black players who routinely see the floor) knocked off #2, all black (and a White role player and a jew) Maryland.

Gustafson finished the game with her 85th double-double, continuing to build on her Big Ten record. she’s a post player who isn’t afraid to play big in the paint. she’s been unstoppable this year.

Zion Williamson's parents had to have given him HGH since he was younger. He doesn't have a basketball player physique at all. Compare LeBron James's NBA rookie season to Zion's freshman season, LeBron hadn't obviously dipped into PEDs yet and was lanky, like a typical basketball player. Zion looks like something it's forbidden to compare him to without cries of waycism.

Williamson isn't from the ghetto so his parents could afford to get him the latest PED protocol, but I suspect if he is on PED's he is getting it from a booster or somebody on the fringes of the Duke program. To be honest while he is strong he has a good layer of baby fat compared to obvious dopers like LBJ or Alonzo Mourning. It could be natural IMO, what I don't like about his hype is that he may not have a position to play at next level. He is only a listed 6'7" in a sport that makes Tyler Murray's fudging about his height and weight look like he was being weighed and measured by Nevada Athletic commision, so Zion might be too short to play power forward and at the weight listed would he have the stamina to guard small forwards in the NBA? He may be another man among boys, who might be a disappointment to a bust at the next level.

Williamson has been turned into a folk hero by ESPN. Certainly unusual. Pudgy( I am being polite) leaper? NBA level hard to say? Many have him going number one.

To follow up on JC post above regarding Iowa C Megan Gustafson I want to mention a few more draft eligible girls to keep an eye on in the tournament.

Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon) is a 5'11" junior who will be eligible. She is practically a Luka Doncic clone and holds the triple double college record for men and women.

Katie Lou Samuelson is a cute UCONN sharpshooter at 6'3" who has a nice all around game.

Alanna Smith out of Stanford is a versatile 6'4" post who can hit threes. She is a smooth and very dynamic athlete.

Now to the High School ranks. Class of 2020, much like Nico Mannion ( 2019), ultra exciting 5'11" Paige Bueckers is playing for a state title in Minnesota this evening. She is the top ranked player for the class of 2020 and look for her to be the next big thing.

The class of 2020 is loaded with top flight female white players including highly athletic C/F 6'4" Cameron Brink She has signed with Stanford and I was trying to post a photo of her with the great Breanna Stewart but can't seem to figure out how to do it. She is the best tall prospect since Breanna (who won 4 straight titles at UCONN and just bagged a WNBA title).

OK I have the picture of Brink and Stewart.

At bottom is a picture of Paige Bueckers who just looks like she was born to play basketball. Undecided on which college she will attend.

The conference tournaments have been a little disappointing and last night Marquette ball hog Howard went 1-15 from the field. He went to the free throw line 24 times but screwed up the flow of the offense. The Hauser brothers good play was wasted as they fell to mainly caste Seton Hall who will face, who else, Villanova in the final. Freshman Cole Swider is back on the court but his freshman season has been disappointing. But Donte D missed out all together on his freshman season there so expect big things from the talented Swider down the road.

Mac McClung made the All Big East freshman squad. Up and down season for the youngster but showed flashes throughout. Overall I was pleased with his play and being one of his biggest fans I'm hoping he keeps improving. Sadly Georgetown came up short for the big dance so expect to see them in the NIT.

Another freshman Tyler Herro of KY has been on a tear of late as he poured in 20 in a win. Their semifinal game is this afternoon.

Under the radar player is Michigan State's G Matt McQuaid. Stellar defender and blossoming offensive force look for him to cause havoc in the tournament. Even back up freshman PG Foster Loyer lit it up yesterday. They are playing today as is Michigan and Iggy. Look for both to face off in the finals Sunday. My God is Iowa up and down. Just happy Indiana looks like they won't get an invite. Wisconsin and MINN are the other teams in the semis. MINN is very caste.

I watched the Duke/NC tilt last night and I thought NC played better team ball. Could have won the game. Idiot last play. Luke Maye played hard last night.

I still think Virginia is the best team in the country. I wouldn't pay attention to their loss yesterday. I think they learned from last season to save up for the big dance. But the ACC is loaded this year with Duke and NC too. I think one of these teams takes home the prize.

Atlantic Ten semi finals today and it is go Davidson all the way.

One last thing. The media has been pondering Belmont and the big dance. For starters they deserve an invite. They are one of the most exciting teams out there and it would be a shame if they are left out. Close call. I say they get in but what the hell do I know?

@Shadowlight, I can 't seem to start a conversation with you; would you be interested in potentially writing-up a region for the NCAA Tourney after the brackets come out?

Unfortunately, you've been right on in regards to the conference tournaments. We've lost a LOT of winnable conference tourneys on some ridiculous scenarios. Davidson didn't help in that regard today by not being able to throw the ball in the ocean or play defense. The Ivy League results also went against us, with all-black Harvard and nearly all-black Yale winning over some more diverse competition in close games. It could get worse for a team like Belmont if Bowling Green ends up winning the MAC today. Bowling Green for Belmont? Horrible trade. Vermont, a mostly-white team with 4 white starters last year, is now down to just 1 white starter. In fact, the only three whites who've played meaningful minutes this year for the Catamounts are the three Duncan brothers. Not sure what happened to Vermont, but they went dark in a hurry.

Fortunately, Utah State and Sam Merrill won the Mountain West Conference Tournament today over all-black San Diego State! Merrill had 24 points and 6 boards in the win. Truly a remarkable season for the Aggies thus far!

Michigan blew out the all-black Gophers in the Big 10 tourney; Brazdeikas had 13 and 5.

Ethan Happ had 20 and 6 in a loss to Michigan State today; which sets up a showdown between the Wolverines and Spartans for the Big 10 Championship.

Jack L I am not set up to communicate with members directly.

Appreciate the offer. You wouldn't know it from my uptick in posts recently but I am dealing with dual problems right now. My schedule is all of a sudden constantly changing and the other problem is I am having internet issues.

I am on now but I never know if I might get cut off. The only times I am "safe" on the internet is Wednesday before 1:00, usually most of Friday and Saturday morning. So I would hate to commit to something only to not be able to follow through.

That said if I can get on the internet Monday and or Tuesday and you want to chance it just let me know what you want me to do.

What the hell happened to Davidson yesterday? I missed most of it watching the Kentucky game and checked in on the Michigan game too. As you mentioned at least Utah State won.

Jon Axel G of Davidson was named player of the Atlantic 10. Shame it ended so badly. At least he has one more year left.

Everybody is talking about Belmont. Even Dick the Prick Vitale thinks they should be in. Most analysts including Clark Kellogg and Seth Davis think they deserve to be invited. No brainer. A great and dangerous team who is very exciting to boot. There will be a lot of disappointment if they choose a sub rate big conference school like TCU over them.

We will find out this evening.
