2017 NFL Draft

Hansen and Switzer will get drafted, but probably a little later than we would like. Hansen was in a lot of mocks in the second round but has dropped a bit, not because his numbers were bad so much as the numbers in the wide receiver group this year were unusually good. Switzers stock is unchanged, he did what everyone expected him to do. Slot receivers tend to be mid round picks at best. Gentry is a possible late rounder now.

The thing you need to remember when talking about guys like Swope and Abbrederis was that they dropped in the draft due to concussion concerns. Unfortunately in both cases the concerns turned out to be well founded. Swope never played a game and Abbrederis has been plauged by injuries and concussions during his career.

We still have Sperbeck and some others that need to do their pro days.

Taylor, Dieter and Morgan are unlikely to be drafted.

The concussion concerns make sense when talking about Swope and Abbrederis. I was feeling confident about Hansen too until I saw some key places leave him out of the mix today but good points all around.

I think Kupp, Hansen, and Switzer will be drafted. And yes that's not as much as we would like. We have to remember we should have a RB in the first round with McCaffery! Been a long time since that happened.

Just a brief mention of a guy who I think will explode in the NFL. TJ Watt is being compared to Clay Matthews which is great and Clay has been a stud until recently not so much due to injuries. That said I think Watt has a chance to be even better. The key is he gets drafted by a team that runs a 3-4 defense. That way he plays the hybrid LB/ DE and I see a guy who will disrupt a game in a big way. I would draft him in a heartbeat and screw waiting until the second round for this guy.

Agreed. He's a 1st rd talent. He's got the genetic pedigree, ideal size, speed, and production. Everything they supposedly covet, so I fully agree draft this guy 1st rd because he might not make it very into the 2nd!

Disappointed to see Tulsa Hybrid LB/S didn't participate in his team's pro day. Thought he had a chance in the league at 6'2 220 especially if he ran in 4.5-4.6 range which I think he's capable of. He was an absolute tackle machine in C-USA!!

DB/WR Anthony Cioffi weighed in at 5'11 205 and ran a 4.50 40 at Rutgers pro day!Not quite the sub 4.4 he predicted but still very good for a 4 year starter! He participated in both offensive and defensive position drills. By all accounts a great workout but his 27.5 vert is a bit concerning.

-Little late on this but just saw Wyoming TE Jacob Hollister ran his 40 in 4.4-4.5 range at Wyoming's pro day! 6'3 240 athletic pale face was excluded from Combine by design.

-Jake Maulhardt ran a 4.65 despite bulking up for his racially appropriate role of TE at next level. 6'5 240 now, I like both of these guys athleticism. Very underrated should make an impact as UDFA!

-Canadian TE Anthony Auclair looks like mid round pick. Big body, 6'5 255. Ran in 4.8 range at Laval's pro day in front of 17 scouts!

Montana had its pro day and Combine/All star game snub Brady Gustafson seemed to show pretty well. He is better than just about every black quarterback in this draft class. Also a defensive end for the Griz also performed well and gained the attention of scouts.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline passes along that the Chiefs and Seahawks put Montana DE Caleb Kidder through "a battery of drills" during Monday's pro day.

Per Pauline, Kansas City and Seattle wanted to see Kidder's movement while backpedaling and working in space. The analyst notes that the 6-foot-5, 269-pounder "looked solid in defensive lineman and linebacker drills" and passes along that Kidder also met with the Packers on Monday.


Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writes that during Monday's pro day, Montana QB Brady Gustafson "showed a rifle arm during throwing drills, though his accuracy was wayward on more than one occasion."

Gustafson measured out at a healthy 6-foot-7, 230 pounds, so at the very least, there are no size questions here. He was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, making Monday's pro day his best chance to impress NFL squads as he tries to open eyes as a potential pick late on Day 3. Pauline currently stamps him with a sixth-round grade. This past season, the big-bodied gunslinger threw for 2,785 yards (65.7% completions) with a 25/8 TD/INT ratio. There had been low buzz over the offseason that he might be "the next Carson Wentz," but that buzz failed to carry over through the 2016 campaign.

Sparingly used Montana RB Joey Counts had a phenomenal pro day. I never heard of him before seeing the weenie world blurb on him. He had the same vert as the overrated african from UCONN (Taylor Mays clone) and a great all around workout.

Counts' mark of 44 inches would have tied UConn DB Obi Melifonwu's mark as the best forward at the Combine. That is, if Counts had actually received a Combine invitation. That did not occur for the 5-foot-10, 205-pounder. While his results in athletic testing (the aforementioned vertical, a 4.48-second 40-yard dash, 27 reps on the bench press) are impressive, he also has a slew of off-field concerns, having been twice arrested for driving under the influence and also being investigated for a break-in. It probably doesn't need to be said, but a small-school player with a history of trouble off the field is not the best bet for draft success.

Leo Musso 15 reps and a 40.5 inch vertical! 10'8 broad jump! As soon as I see his 40 time I'll share it! He's undersized for FS but would be a great CB candidate if he wasn't a pale face..

** Musso with a 4.57 40! He also had a stellar run in 60yd shuttle drill. His time of 11.05 would have been 3rd best all time, had he been invited to the Combine! He was top 10 in Ints this season.

Just saw a blurb on weenieworld comparing Mulatto Mahomes to John Elway. The black to white comparing continues at a ridiculous pace.

Sounds as if he could be good as a slot cornerback.

He'll probably go undrafted but if I ran a team he'd be worth a 7th at least to be a slot cornerback.

Hopefully he gets a shot at the next level. Pretty sure he tested out better than the overrated duo of cbs from Florida.

Sure hope so. *We've known Musso is a top notch athlete for a while now. Based off his stellar prep career as a record shattering RB(3x state championship)! He also had the highest SPARQ score at Chicago combine as a JR in HS. Not bad for a 5'9 white kid from a suburb of Madison! It's time this guy gets some respect as a LEGIT pro prospect!

**You're right both the overrated Florida CBs ran 4.6 range. So much for dat "Southern Speed."

I'm a little bored this evening so I reviewed three different sites top 300 prospects. One had 51 whites, the second had 54 and the third had 59. Bear in mind that their are only 253 picks so some of our guys on these lists won't be draft at all. We also might see some of our guys not on this list be drafted.

Again I sound like a broken record but year in and year out the lack of any deviation from any of these numbers is a blatant example of the caste system.

Pretty good interview with Davis Webb. Really like his self confidence.

Unfortunately, it seems like this young man is very (athletically) gifted...yet intellectually 'challenged'. Maybe he'll get a shot in the NFL & (also) get his act straight. We (here) know that if he was colored, he'd be a 1st round pick (with that athletic ability),

Listening to the experts on sports radio today heaping praise on McCaffrey...as a slot receiver or KR. Unbeleivable (well, not really). I did hear Greg Cosell saying that Mac would be a great primary back for an offense like Green Bays where they typically operate out of a shotgun or pistol offense. Cosell said he could see no reason why Mac couldn't get 60 to 65% of the carries at the tailback position. I hope Mac gets picked by a team that will utilize his quickness and run ability instead of wasting him on special teams.

There is a report that the Broncos may look to take Mac in 1st round. The belief is that Elway's relationship with his father would play a role in the decision. Not to mention the Broncos currently don't have a big name at running back.

Clemson QB Deshaun Watson's pro day workout on Thursday drew mixed reviews.
"It was a B-minus / C-plus type workout," an NFL scout said, noting inconsistencies with Watson's timing and ball placement. That scout, though, praised Watson's deep throws. To be fair, Mike Mayock disagreed with the tepid review. "[H]is footwork was much improved because they're working on the feet and the hips, trying to sync that up with his arm strength," Mayock said. "Now his arm strength at all three levels is outstanding -- short, medium, deep. He had a little bit more trajectory on the football, another thing they worked on. A quick overview on Watson would be very impressive workout. One caution -- like most spread quarterbacks, his accuracy is tied to his feet. His feet are a work in progress." Mar 16 - 3:13 PM

LOL sounds similar to reviews for Tajh Boyd nearing the 2013 draft. Incidentally, the Browns have a private workout with Watson. They might just be dumb enough to draft him in the 1st round.

Boulware ran a 4.79 and reportedly looked good in drills.

Reading the tony Pauline comments about Watson - concerns with his velocity, accuracy and timing all exist and he has issues throwing to his left. His velocity was 49 mph which was the lowest of the main qb prospects at the combine. He had a ton of ints this past season as well. This guy will get eaten alive - he may become a bridge water - celebrated for mediocrity and check downs but that's it.

RB Joe Mixon visited the Bronco's today, so he's in contention as well. Considering the Bronco's, with their new black head coach, has not made any White-friendly moves during this signing period (they'll probably end up having a Sumo-laden OL in the fall), I'm not going to hold my breath on them picking CM, but it would certainly make them otherwise watchable if they did.

WR Brandon Reilly ran a 4.42 at Nebraska's Pro-Day and caught everything thrown to him, but the "experts" are mostly talking about how former QB Armstrong tested out well at other positions, including WR, and how he really raised his stock.

I hope the team that drafts McCaffrey has at least three White starters on their o-line. We all know about Toby Gerhart's defensive "teammates" who tried to take his head off; can we be confident that offensive "teammates" are going to be any more enthusiastic to see a White running back succeed? As I recall, Peyton Hillis had four White linemen blocking for him during his big year.
