A thread for your posts for pre-game articles of interest, your thoughts on the matchups, the hype and the hate, and everything that happens during the game and after.

Tell us who you want to win and why, and tell us who you THINK will win and why. Sometimes these two aren't the same.

I want the Pats to win because they start 9 whites to the Colts 8. Also, a Colts win will be credited to Tony Dungy by the racist media. I also think the Pats will win becasue they are a better team and have always beaten the Colts when it counts.

I also want the Saints to win as they start 9 whites to the Bears 4. The Bears also have a racist coach who, of course, is a media darling.

A significant difference between this game and the others that the Colts have lost to the Patriots in recent years in the playoffs is that this is the first one in which Indyis the home team. The Colts need to take advantage; the stars look to be aligning their way so far.

"Wait until we get you guys at our house." That is what I've heard Indy's fans say over and over again. Now, they face the Pats at home. Are the Colts significantly better on artificial turf?Of course, weather won't be a factor. What do the stats indicate for this years games? Will the Colts be that much quicker at home or will the Pats also get an advantage? Any thoughts?

The Colts have no real run game. Peyton does have Clark, however, as he has done it the past, Manning will avoid Clark and it will cost the Colts. I'm for the Patriots, because of 1 more white player starting and I do not want to hear about Dungheap all year.

I checked Yahoo Sports and watched a video of Charles Robinson, Cris Carter and Jason Cole analyzing the Pats-Colts game. All of them are picking the Colts.

The Peyton legacy and 8 white starters v Tony Dungy;
or 9 white starters total?

I think Peyton dropping the choke label is more important than the extra white starter on the Pats. Dungy is going to get a lot of credit if the Colts make it, and even more if they win, but the media will not be able to overlook the fact that Peyton finally beat the Pats in the playoffs and made it to the Super Bowl.

A couple of caveats:
The Colts will actually have to WIN the Super Bowl for Manning to get any credit. Dungy will get some cred for taking the Colts to the show but Peyton has to win, bottom line.

If Manning throws for 150 yards, 0 TDs, and 3 INTS and the Colts STILL win, he is still going to be the guy who chokes in big games. Dungy will get even more credit for the win if Manning performs poorly. Manning has to perform for a Colts win to mean anything.

I think Joseph Addai is a credible enough running back to establish a running game for the Colts in the playoffs.

I think the Patriots have the mental edge in this game. They've done it before, and the Colts are the ones who are facing their 'nemesis' in the Patriots.

I want the Colts to win.
I think the Colts will win, but nor will I be surprised at all if the Patriots play in their sixth Super Bowl. I wouldn't put any money on this game.

Being the quarterback on a Super Bowl winner is what people will remember, no matter what his individual stats are. Terry Bradshaw was the weak link of the Steelers when they won their first two Super Bowls, but nobody tries to detract from his accomplishments. A lot of QBs on Super Bowl winning teams had less than monster games statistically, but as time goes on, people only remember winners and losers, rarely statistics.

I think Manning has played efficiently so far. The one thing I've noticed is that his protection hasn't been nearly as good as usual, as he has been flushed out of the pocket quite a bit, and throwing on the run is one of his few weaknesses. The object is to win games and he's doing that, including against the best defense in the league last week.

I don't remember anybody's stats from the Super Bowl, either. As far as quarterbacks go the only guy who didn't get a rep as a 'winning' Super Bowl quarterback was Trent Dilfer, who was unceremoniously dumped by the Ravens after they beat the Giants. When his name comes up in sports conversations, most people say, "That guy? He sucks!"

I feel that Manning must perform well in order to shake the choke label because he is playing for a black head coach. A poor performance on Manning's part will allow the media to give Dungy more credit; his game plan and leadership ability allowed the Colts to overcome the poor play of his star quarterback, etc.Edited by: White Shogun

From a Caste System perspective, we have more to gain by a Pats win. Belichick has established a consistantly winning team due to superior coaching in the era of free agency (not easy to do.) The Patriots are poised to win another Superbowl with a white quarterback that was not drafted until the sixth round (199th overall.) Vick was drafted in the first round No. 1 overall in 2001. Dullpepper was drafted eleventh overall in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft etc, etc... Soooo, it stands to reason that another Superbowl win by a six round white boy who was looked over by the Caste System speaks volumes about intellect over afflets, Wonderlick over fast feet and accuracy over cannons.

Hopefully, Manning will win his Superbowl after the Colts do what Tampa did and toss out the Dungheap.

The first time the Patriots played the Colts in the playoffs they actually cheated to win. Their cornerbacks played illegallythe whole game. They knocked the Colt recievers off their routes and picked off Manning 3 times. The NFL actually made a rule change in the off season because of that game.

I don't remember the other meetings but this may finally be the Colts year to go all the way.

Black cornerbacks playing illegally! The hell you say. Manning being a first round pick is expected to be in the big game. Brady's low draft status should have him sitting on the bench behind a first round black quarterback (Shaub in Atlanta) However, he has played at a high level while destroying Caste myth pathos with regard to superiority of the genus africanus.

Interesting stats concerning artificialturf and domes from Don Banks.

- The angle to pay attention to: After five consecutive trips to Foxboro, the Colts finally have the Patriots back in the RCA Dome, where the teams haven't met since November 2003. Will it matter? Yes. The Colts are 9-0 at home this season and are a quicker, more explosive team on the fast track of their artificial surface. Will it matter? No. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is 10-0 in domes in his career, 23-1 on artificial surfaces, and 12-1 in the playoffs. Confused? So are we.Edited by: Bart

I remember that game, GW, exactly as you said. I couldn't believe what they were allowing the Patriots' cornerbacks to get away with in that game. It was robbery.

Six of the gurus at ESPN have picked the Colts to win. Only two favor the Pats.

I think the Colts will win. The Pats blew their wad in San Diego. I'm one of the biggest Peyton Manning apologists out there so I would love to see him get a SB ring. I think he's going to have a big game against New England.

The caste system hates Peyton. They always have. Whether they are carping about him not having beaten Florida or complaining about the size of his contract they always have something to complain about with Peyton. A SB ring around his (middle?) finger would be more than the caste media could take.

But then again it would be sweet seeing Brady get that fourth ring.

The Pats are going to have to come up with a wrinkle early to keep Indy's defense honest. A flea flicker might catch them being too aggressive. Maybe something not so drastic, play action sending the tight end deep in the middle would loosen them up a little.

Peyton is going to have to be careful. A couple of times lately, safeties stayed honest when he tried to look them off. Some convincing pump fakes might create opportunities. He has got to utilize Ben Utecht which will help the running or vice versa - take your pick. The Colt's offensive line came through against the universe's greatest defense last week, especially on the last drive of the game. That wasn't suppose to happen. If they can keep it going, that will make Manning's life much easier.

I'm going to a bunker now, in case ya'll blast away at my armchair quarterbacking.

Manning has been getting a lot of respect recently. Even Colin Cowturd has said that he hopes Manning gets the monkey off his back, and that he actually win a Super Bowl. He said he'd like to root for New Orleans but he is pulling for Manning. He said that there isn't anything not to like about Peyton Manning - he's humble, he works hard, he is obviously the best quarterback in the game.. and oh yeah, he even said that Mike Vick would never be a quarterback like Peyton Manning! Ya think?? LOL

Anyway, I have been very surprised recently by the media's favorable treatment of Brady, Manning, Marty Schottenheimer, and even mixed martial arts. Not to mention the love affair with Mike Vick is over. I know it's about time and a lot has happened, but would any of you have been surprised if the media had come out in defense of Vick yet again? When you have guys like Wilbon coming out and angrily saying that Vick should be benched or traded and that Schaub should start for the Falcons.. I'm surprised!

I don't want to hijack my own thread, so I'll go out on a limb and say that I think the Colts are going to win after all (some limb huh?). I thought about last weekend's games, and compared Brady's performance against the Chargers D and Manning's against the Ravens. They played similar games yet Manning was up against a much better defense. If the trend holds, Manning will have a good game against the Pats and the Colts will win. Not to mention that Rodney Harrison will not be playing for the Patriots this weekend.

I think we see Manning win his first Super Bowl this year.

Well, most of the muckety mucks have the Patriots going down in flames. These fellows analyze and watch football for a living, so they should know what they are talking about. Right?I checked ESPN to see what their resident geniuses had to say about the San Diego-New England game. Guess what? They thought the Pats would get smoked. So much for them. I think sub - consciously the media would love to see Smith and Dungy face off in the Big Bash, so I have to enter their biases into the equation.

We cannot foresee the future, but often past performance is a good indication of what is to come. Manning, Dungy and the Colts have a track record of losing the big games. Brady, Belichick and the Patriots have an excellent history of racking up W's against all odds. How did they beat the Chargers? Yes, the Dolts made errors, but the Pats took advantage of them.

I don't think the Colts defensive surge over the last two games is sustainable. The Chiefs had been sputtering on offense and had a lousy coach and game plan. The Ravens are one dimensional and held Manning to five field goals. If Lewis didn't lay his fingers on a couple of Peyton's passes, he would have had two more INT's. Fortunately McNair threwa huge pick at the goal line that was a killer.

The pressure may be too much for Manning and Harrison. Brady may be off from time to time, but he has ice-water in his veins.Dungy is no match for Belichick. The noise in the dome could be a factor, but the Pats handled it well at Minnesota where the noise levels are deafening.

Belichick may have a game plan designedthat will cause everyone to shake their heads. His tight-ends are pretty big and may be too much of a handful even for the hard hitting Sanders who is on the small side. The Pats can take it to them on the ground.

I'm picking the -Evil Empire- to take one away from the Colts. I will boldly add that Vinatieri won't be a factor. Any thoughts? Am I nuts? Let er rip.

Bart,
Don't see how anybody can go against picking the Patriots, even if they want, or think, the Colts will win. That's what makes this game so intriguing. The Pats have owned the Colts in the post-season. I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen tomorrow!
