I'm gonna be biased here and gop with Ohio becuase I think pound for pound Ohio is the best. We have been beating PA lately in our yearly match up, although not this year for once in a while. You also have to consider that Cali and Texas are 1 and 2 in terms of population so of course they are going to produce more D1 players. Florida meanwhile is also ahead of Ohio population wise, adding more and more every year, while Ohio's popualtion is pretty much at a stand still.

I voted for Pennsylvania, Cathedral Prep in Erie is an excellent
football school. If this were a pole for the worst state, I would
vote for New York.

I had to vote for my home state because each local community here really supports their teams. Most 5A games will draw 10,000+ fans in any given Friday night and some of the bigger programs draw over 15,000. That is as many as the Rice University or University of Houston collegiate games draw.

How could you leave off Georgia. Georgia Producees the forth most d-1 players of any state. Georgia has half as many people as flordia but almost has as many d-1 players. Unlike alot of others states most of Georgias good schools are public not privet school football powers that the best players go to. This makes for a great deal of competition, because the talent is spread out equaly. Georgia also has alot of passionet fans.

Georgia #1

Ohio gets my vote with Pennsylvania a close second. I remember the tough games between Massillion and Canton McKinley when I was a young guy. There were other schools that were very good-Alliance,Niles,Akron Hoban, the Catholic schools from Cleveland,Cinncinati and Youngstown. Michigan,Purdue,Notre Dame,Michigan State,Northwestern plus others all came to Ohio looking for players.

Texas, Florida and the Deep South produce the most Caste System players because of their larger black populations. Many potentially great white players don't have a chance in the South even in high school. I like Pennsylvania and Ohio more because they produce more white players. Ohio seems like the best state for white high school players, but until the Caste System is broken it's all kind of a moot question. California traditionally has been a great state for producing white athletes in many different sports, but as it quickly becomes part of Mexico that's changing.

Ohio produces so many great football players and white ones in particular. If you look at the predominatly white rosters of Ohio St, Ohio U., Miami U.(all schools in Ohio) you'll see that they are that way becuase they just can't afford to look past the great white football players in the state. While other in state schools such as Akron, Kent St, and Toledo are mostly black becuase they believe in the caste system and go out of their way to get out of state black players such as a lot from Florida. I know this becuase I live in the state and have taken a look whenever National Signing Day comes around where the in state schools are getting their players from. The mostly white Ohio schools I mentioned above are that way becuase they look to recruit in state and as a result wind up with mostly white rosters and vice versa for Toledo, Kent st, ect. Just look at out of the I think 8 white players selected in the 1st Rd in the NFL draft this year 3 of them were from Ohio in Hawk, Carpenter, and Mangold.

If you just judge by the high school teams and the quality of play at the high school level, I think Texas is the best. Other states have good football players just like we do here ,but high school football is not as big a deal in other places. It's not just the large crowds and big stadiums in Texas. We have the largest coaching staffs and best prepearation and scouting of opponents. And I know that other states are represented more visibly by Whites in major college football, but it's not because the Whites here aren't good. Predominately White schools win state championships here all of the time. Wasn't Southlake Carrol considered the best team in the country last year? The funny thing about high school football in Texas is that if you go to play college ball at any level other than division one it is a letdown from your high school experience.

I'd say Ohio.
1)The HOF is in Canton.
2)If you look at where many great high school players that get screwed over and couldn't play in college go, they come from Ohio.
3)The presence of Ohio St. and Ohio, helps. The colleges feed into highschool football intensity.
4)PA and Iowa have wrestling so I don't want to give PA another sport.
5)Texas football has black marks (no pun intended) from Friday Night Lights, which showed the Stated Championship referees missing players cheating. In the film, the refs screwed the players at the end.
6)Kyle McCarthy is getting screwed and is going to be forced to play safety. Or should I say he is getting "Foxed."

In Pennsylvania we have a lot of teams that travel to Florida to play. Just one time I would like to have a Florida team come here in November to play. Just the thought of the cold, the chance of snow and smell of real muddy soil would certainly favor the locals. No hot weather, with warm rain and sand in your socks. We can't offer Disney World. But we could offer sking and snow ball fights as entertainment.

HS Football in PA or any northern state in late November is as pure as it gets. I visit NEPA alot due to relatives and being able to watch highlights and games sometimes full of kids who were descendants of hard working coal miners and textile workers is what its all about. When I was younger I realized how teams from NEPA where pretty much completely white and played at a high level yet that never translated to many of them going to major programs.

PA is not that cold, and they don't have much skiing.

Go to my neck of the woods for cold. Ever see harbors freeze.

Football is played great all over the country. Good white schools in California, Ohio, Texas, Lousiana, Nebraska, etc. It is often much more regionalized though. Football is probably most intense at DeLaSalle in California and at Southlake Carol in Texas.

IceSpeed2,

I have seven ski resorts within a twenty mile drive. They do a lot of sking here. I know one thing for sure... It is a lot colder here than Florida. Just a cold weather advantage. For years Tampa Bay did not win a game against the Eagles in Philadelphia in the cold. Was it the weather or the home field atmosphere? Or both?

In Texas, the farther West you go, the whiter the football teams. Blacks are concentrated in East Texas and in the big cities (Dallas, Houston, Austin).

The great Permian teams were nearly all-white. Great programs like Westlake, Lee, and Plano are very white. (I don't know the typical racial makeup of the Longview teams?)

I just read an interesting article on Coach Dodge of Southlake Carroll High in Scholastic Coach magazine. I had never heard of them before that. A picture of him with players in the background showed all white guys with bleached white hair. What is the racial make up of the team?

South Lake is an upscale, mostly white community in the Dallas area. They have had good football teams there for a long time.

Oh, and the best high school football is played in Texas.

OH IO!!! What state has 10 out of 11 starters on Ohio St from. Oh yeah thats right Ohio. And the only one who isn't, TE Rory Nicol, is from Pennslyvania. So one can argue that since over 90% of the best college football team's offense is from Ohio that it is indeed the best h.s. football state. Since that is where all the players played their prep ball at. Ohio only has 11 million people compared to over 15 million for Florida and over 20 for Cali and Texas. so pound for pound Ohio is the best.

White Tornado, great point! Georgia is easily in the top 5! Look at the top 5 star recruits and the eventual NFL talent that hails from Georgia! The state not only provides a talent pipeline for UGA & Tech, but also UF, Auburn, Tennesee, FSU & others. Georgia is a hotbed for high school & college football. Overall, I'd say 1) FLA, 2) TX, 3) CA, 4) GA 5) OH.
