Lemaitre looks like he actually has improved his start and drive phase. It looks like he doesn't have the crazy conditioning to sustain his top end speed anymore when he used to come out of nowhere to beat the types that barely made the final like Su and Vicaut. I don't know if it's natural aging or the injuries he had this seaon but he has had two seasons now where he has looked flat and his times have regressed from his peak.

Like the other posters have stated he needs to jump ship and leave his amateur club and go anywhere where he can train alongside a world class sprinter. 11 flat sprinters aren't getting it done.

Logically, after his preparation disturbed by his muscle injury the 21th of June, Christophe Lemaitre couldn’t reach the final on the 100 m in the world championships in Beijing.
The French has finished 6th in semi-finals in 10â€20 (wind – 0,4 m/s), behind Usain Bolt (9’’96), Andre De Grasse (9’’96) and Trayvon Bromell (9’’99). Three athletes on the podium two hours later, with only Justin Gatlin (2nd) between them.
« The level is exceptional. Diminished, it wasn’t possible to go to the final, explains Christophe on the webside of the French federation. I feel frustration. I wasn’t able to race very well to reach my goal. The injury, the lack of training and competition… It wasn’t possible for me… I could’nt recover my speed feelings. After all, it was good for me to run this 100 m. I ‘ll get marks for the 200 m. »

Exactly....Common sense says if progress is not made in some time, you look for alternatives, this is with anything in life. If I am stuck in a dead end job with no pay increase, I go look to find another job... people liek RCSMAN and Christophe (for not wanting to look elsewhere) seem to lack this, and its quite sad and scary as well. RCSMAN is like that Porky Kim guy in NK, selfish and all for himself, he is always right, and never wrong, even when the facts show otherwise.

The World Championships 200m heats start tomorrow.
In theory, Lemaitre could make the finals, but I'm not too confident based on his 100m.
We'll know better after his first heat tomorrow.
Guliyev is also running. Always wonder/hope he can step up and surprise us.

You have to think Bolt and Gatlin have the top two medals on lock down and the rest of the contenders are in a fight for bronze.

So far this season Edward,Young and Weir would be favoured over Lemaitre for bronze. A few others have run faster times but Lemaitre in the past has beaten them consistently on the circuit or at major meets.

Hopefully the weird power training we have seen from publicity shots will help him in the deuce. Bon chance Christophe.

Ps what is a 24 second runner doing in a world championship heat? I knew guys who could run that in middle school.......

Wow! Guliyev won his heat in 20.01. And he made it look very easy! Alright!
He eased down before the finish. Otherwise, he would have been sub-20 for sure.

Lemaitre ran 20.29 in his heat. He struggled to turn on his jets in the straight. He finished 3rd
To be honest, he didn't look that good.

I watched, too, and I agree with Jack's assessments. I would add that it reminded me of the old days when Guliyev and LeMaitre were both young and incredibly promising. Back then we had no idea which one would go on to have the better career. Their times were almost identical.

Interestingly, LeMaitre went on to do great things for a while under Carraz, and has been vilified ever since. Guliyev went backwards, never came close to achieving his potential (which was probably equal to LeMaitre's), but neither he nor his coach has received the kind of anger heaped on Christophe.

Anyway, Guliev looked like the real deal and could make the final. Christophe looked like a shadow of a shadow of a shadow of his former self. A shame. I truly think he was going to have a great year until the injury hit.

Based on watching all the heats, I don't see Lemaitre coming even close to making the finals of the 200m.

What Lemaitre did in his early years was not beacause of Carraz, it was due to his natural talent....All Carraz did was give him the basics, but after a while, you will hit a plateau, and Carraz could not bring him past that beacause Carraz is not a Elite Coach, Aix Les Bains is a amateur club with amatuer training partners, and Christophe is a pussy for not wanting to leave and try a different approach in a different environment.

The joking is ok but it's going too far. The kid is an introvert and was bullied through many of his early years. To call him a p***y is not fair. You haven't lived his life. I agree he should have left his coach but he doesn't deserve that much hatred. Christophe still trains hard even if the techniques are a little different on some levels. We still need to support him here. Christophe made history. No other white sprinter has ever went sub 10 and sub 20. Gemeli is not of full european ancestry. My point is that the joking is going too far. Let's have some class. The kid does not deserve to be called that name ever. I'm frustrated too as he could have done even more amazing things but he did get hurt several times this year. Keep that it mind. Thanks.

Christophe is lucky for tomorrow: he will run at lane 9 in the maybe "easiest" heat.

Sorry but it is what it is....the injuries are BS! More excuses. 4 years in a row, no progression! He needs to grow balls and move on, sorry if this offends you, but it is only for Christophe's success.

In 100 couldn't file Reus and Ashmeade ... It will be very bad for 200.
