Yes, WL, I am well aware of the joke league known as the NFL. I like to point out evidence against the caste system.

Back to Athletics. I think John Teeters will go sub 10 in the 100m this year or next along with Ramil Guliyev and the Japanese sprinter Yoshi Kiryu.

10.07 for Teeters is the fastest time by a white American ever in the 100m!

An achievement worthy of note out west. Parker Bluth won the 100 (10.34), the 200 (20.52), and the 4 x 400 (along with the Lambourne brothers and Tanner Hunt) all in one exhausting day at the Mountain West Championships. I could see Utah State making the relay finals at the NCAA's if runners like Bluth are a little fresher.

What a season so far. Blistering times and we are only in may.

World Indoor Sprint Champion Richard Kilty won today in Italy running a new personal best time of 10.09 +1.7w! This is great news
as he continues edging closer to that 10 second mark. The kid is such a talent and he along with Gemeli are the present and future of sprinting in the United Kingdom. So happy for the "Teeside Tornado" Richard Kilty. Keep on blazing mate!:becky:

I saw that the wind was only 0.6 on Kilty's 10.09.
That makes his time even more impressive!

Richard said that his start was not as good as he would have liked. He had a hamstring pull just a month ago and he has not got to work on his blocks triaining as much as he would like. The kid is a legit world class sprinter. He is only missing that first sub 10 and hopefully many more in the future. He is doing what Craig Pickering should have done. Happy for Rich!

Teeters finished 2nd but he lost to a future olympian. I hope he will be too someday down the road. He did run a sub 10 but it wasn't wind legal. I'm still very proud of the kid. This field was stacked with very good sprinters. John Teeters is amazing. Congrats on taking 2nd! Nothing to be ashamed of. You are an elite talent!

John Teeters ran 9.98 in the finals of the Big 12 Championships and got 2nd place.
Great time but the wind was over the allowable limit of 2.0 (3.5w).
It's also too bad that Teeters is in the toughest conference for the 100m. Lots of fast competition.
Still a great result, and hopefully a wind legal sub-10 is just around the corner.

With Lemaitre and Guliyev finally back in good form after many many seasons, this could turn out to be a great season for white sprinters.
It seems to me that we have 5 guys that could realistically get very close to the sub-10 mark this year. Lemaitre, Guliyev, Kilty, Teeters, and Gemeli.
I think all these 5 guys could go sub-10 under the right circumstances and conditions.

there were an abundance of White sprinters at the MWC Championships.

Parker Bluth's personal-record of 10.34 took home the gold in the 100-meters. it leaves me wondering (again) why Dallas Burroughs, the phenomenal sprinter for Boise State (with a personal-best 10.34 in high school, as well as a 21.06 in the 200) never ran track in college.

also in the 100, just barely edged out for medals were two youngsters from Boise State. Dusty Fisher and Alexandru Terpezan, with Fisher running a 10.65 and Terpezan a 10.67

in the 200-meters, White cats went 1-2-3-5-6, with notable efforts by Bluth (mentioned above with a school-record 20.52, which is a world-class time), Terpezan (who had a personal-best 20.97 to take second place), and Fisher, a 6-foot-2 walk-on wideout on the football team (who took third place with a 21.28). they are both sophomores, i think.

in the 400, White athletes went 1-2-3-4, led by Lambourne (46.31) and Hunt (47.41) of Utah State and freshman Kyle Kelley of Boise State (47.45) taking third.

this makes me ponder where the "explosive affletes" on Boise State's football team are, since clearly only the fastest "overachievers" on campus are winning championship medals for the track team.

come to think of it, why is the roster for Utah State so dark? all the fastest athletes on campus are "over achievers" with "deceptive" speed (coincidentally, i'm sure, they're also top scholars in the classroom unlike their darker-hued peers) ... so why not recruit more athletes like them?

Gemeli ran 10.19 in Holland today. I was hoping for better, but considering it his first race of the outdoor season, I think it's not too shabby.

So for these five their season's best right now are:

Teeters 10.07 (1.9w)
Kilty 10.09 (0.6w)
Guliyev 10.12 (1.9w)
Lemaitre 10.16 (0.6w)
Gemeli 10.19 (-0.3)

and since they are atypical "sprinter types" let's throw in the top Asians too
Bingtian Su 10.06 (0.2)
Kei Takase 10.09 (-0.1)
Peimeng Zhang 10.18 (0.2) with a (10.00 PB)
Yoshi Kiryu - will go sub 10.10 as soon as he knows his hamstring is OK. He knows he can do it so confidence won't be a problem.

19 year old Aussie Josh Clarke won't better his 10.19 (1.1) this season since it's all about consolidating another year of no injury and aiming for big improvements next year. He figures sub 10.10if he can stay healthy

Richard Kilty and Ramil Guliyev run against Asafa Powell in the 100m at Ostrava Golden Spikes meet tomorrow.
Fingers crossed for fast times from both of them!

Also Pavel Maslak is entered in the 300m. I think it is his outdoor season debut. It will be interesting to see what kind of shape he is in after his successful indoor season.

I expect Richard Kilty to run close to or a new personal best time. He thrives on pressure. Ramil Guliyev will probably struggle but I hope I'm wrong. Maslak will be good as advertised. He is another guy that brings his best performances when the pressure is on. Some guys just choke under pressure will others rise to the occasion. Would love to see Kilty get his first sub 10 tommorow. That would be incredible.

well, Kilty never looked in the same class as he finished 3 metres down to Powell. Cold and wet and slighty negative wind perhaps, but they all had the same conditions

I quite like the non standard events. Here is the 300 where the 21 year old Pole actually beats Maslak (without his customary compression arm sleeves). Kevin Borlee not really close.

Guliyev did not run. Don't know why.

Meanwhile, at the NCAA West Regionals, John Teeters ran a 9.95 with 2.6 wind in the heats.
If the wind had been a legal 2.0, then maybe he would have a legal sub-10.
Let's go John!

he's messing with our minds - that's more than once he's broken 10 just over the limit. I am sure in my own mind he can produce it legally if he competes well and often this year
