Firstly, surprised that there is not a thread already on the guy. if there is, please delete.

Big Caste Match up, between him and the very dangerous Aldo, who,s not lost in ten years?

However, if he does win this, this is a massive Caste Busting victory. Not just because he is a White guy with Elite level Athleticism that i have ever seen, but also Dana White will make this guy the face of the sport. You will see this young white man on alot of Billboards, adverts etc. Which is the liberal media worst nightmare.

My only reservations about him is he listens to rap music, and acts "black", which could go horribly wrong if he gets beaten by Aldo. I wish he was more like Klitschko, cool calm and collected.

Oh well, either all ill be rooting for him and it could be another belt back for our guys to piss the self haters off. :)

I actually don't think he is that good. Even in that division is think Edgar is way better.

Connor McGregor is the most talented, athletic MMA fighter right now. He has it all. Striking, kicking, ground and movement.

Yes, he is charismatic, and many here equate his sometimes over the top dress and actions out of the ring with acting "black." But he does back it up in the cage.

From what I have seen, he also takes the time to have pictures with fans and seems to respect those around him.

I'm very excited about Connor's up coming match against Aldo and believe that a win will cement his position at the top for years to come.

This guy personifies "the fighting Irish" and our people with regard to physical prowess and skill.

"If one of us goes to war, we all go to war!". Connor McGregor.

Don't follow MMA closely as it doesn't have the skill level you see in boxing but i rate Mcgregor.Sick striking mechanics and he can also switch hit from a right handed stance to a left handed one like we have seen Tyson Fury doing recently. The goal behind switch hitting is to confuse the opponent and bring them onto shots from different angles and very few fighters in the world of combat can do it effectively.Mcgregor can.If Mcgregor beats Aldo[has a great chance]i'd like to see him in with Edgar. He would play with Edgar.Make it look easy and clown him doing it.

Look at Mcgregor's physique. He has a v-shape.Great boxing coach Brendan Ingle says that kind of body type ripped and hydrated is a sign of serious power.GSP had it,Wlad has it as does the young boxer Lomachenko.Mcgregor is an athlete to be reckoned with.Don't be surprised if Mcgregor has explosive takedowns and good defense against it because he has that kind of athleticism.

Hows Edgar going to close the distance against a guy continually changing angles with accurate shot power in either hand from either stance?

Not an MMA fan but I've heard a lot about this guy Connor McGregor. My thoughts:

I've been watching boxing for 15 years as a diehard fan. One tthing I've learned in that time is that experience is the best indication of success in fighting .

Wladimir Klitschko is so good because he has the perfect body, perfect athleticism, but *more important* he had hundreds of amateur fights and started boxing as a boy. So he was extremely experienced before he even turn ed pro.

Lomachenko, same deal, 400 amateur fights and that's why he's so good.

Does McGregor have a lengthy fighting background or is he just some guy who took it up late? Makes a big difference.

Id say no to be honest.

He had 5 fights in the UFC. And this could really end in tears, where if he losses badly could knock ALL the wind out his sails.

What i will say is he is obsessed with improving his craft. For example he lost 2 fights in his first 6 fights due to poor ground game. But he really worked hard and now hes never been taken down and near submitted.

I he was a good Amateur boxer, but for me its his physique and Athleticism that makes him special. Incredible footwork etc.

We will find out in June whether the band wagon is legit or not.

Comon mate, Mcgregor lost early on as did Wlad in his boxing career, but lets see if hes improved on his ground game like he promises he has.

I like McGregor. He’s been accused “racism” numerous times, he’s hilarious, entertaining, intelligent, quick-witted, unapologetic, and speaks highly of his ancient, pagan European ancestors in Ireland. What other white person of any social significance does that? Some McGregor quotes…

“My roots, where I came from, is where I believe I’m from and I prove it’s where I’m from. I believe there is warrior experience inside me. I believe I am doing what my ancestors did [but] in this day and age.”

“This is destiny for me. I’m doing what I was put here to do, what my ancestors were doing on the war-torn Scottish Highlands in the 17th Century.”

“The more I look into my family history and the McGregor name, it was bred on battle. It makes me realize that this chose me, I wasn’t meant to do anything else.”

“My name, McGregor, you know, that's bled on the battlefield. I have no doubt my ancestors were on the war torn Scottish highland in them days, riding a horse and swinging a pick axe, you know what I mean? That was where I was from. I'm doing what my ancestors were doing in the modern day era. You know what I mean, so it's perfect. I'm doing what I was put here to do.”

I respect any white man who'll speak openly to the media about his pride for his European heritage...

His opponent, Jose Aldo, is a great fighter, but lacks KO power and isn’t an elite wrestler or BJJ practitioner. Aldo hasn’t submitted anyone in an MMA fight in 10 years. McGregor has a great chin and a good takedown defense, so he does have a chance to win the Featherweight Championship. Most likely, the battle-tested Aldo will win by UD.

McGregor overtakes and stops Aldo in round 2 or 3. Connor's speed and athleticism will be too much for the little brown guy to handle.

McGregor is a new era white fighter. One of my favorites. I do like that he shows no fear. Also funny hearing him jeer on Also: "I'm going to take your belt you Brown Brazilian" Lol.

He is a warrior and a positive alpha male role model to white kids around the world.

I have only seen a couple of McGregor's fights but it's tough to see him as the favorite here, Aldo hasn't lost in years and McGregor has only beaten a handful of not-so-great fighters. He seems like a hypejob to be honest. We'll see what happens though.

I have to agree. But I also want to add I think McGregor is smart in that he created his own hype. I think he saw that he would have to build himself up as Dana White and crew have their faces firmly planted in the dank dirty crotches of non-white fighters per the suggestions of the TV networks they chased for deals. On a side note, besides crackhead thief fraud Jon Jones, I've always thought Benson Henderson benefited outrageously from the perfidy of Dana White and the Fertittas.

The flip side to McGregor being labeled as a hype job is that I think Aldo has been saved by the organization more than once - he's been handed a few decisions that could have (and I think should have) gone the other way. Right now I agree that Frankie Edgar is a better all-around fighter than McGregor, and Chad Mendes isn't far behind. Edgar manhandled that swaggering punk Cub Swanson. If Edgar could punch like McGregor he'd never lose.

McGregor has extremely fast reactions - I don't mean reflexes, I mean his reactions, even much better than just a couple of years ago. I'm sure he is very serious in the gym in order to have taken this part of his game so many notches. His power is underrated I reckon; I do think if he can catch Aldo on the chin he'll knock his block off. A big question for me is how far has McGregor's ground game progressed? I should add I don't think I like the way McGregor leaves his chin hanging out there. This is where McGregor's reactions have helped him out, because his stance makes that chin an awfully inviting target.

Very interesting to see the mixed reactions from you guys. I guess, it really is what it is, is he the real deal or not.

In truth i think it maybe similar to when GSP hit the scene. i remember he had a match against the great Matt Hughes, lost due to a silly error despite dominating Learnt from it and beat Matt easily in the rematch.

I think this could go the same way with Aldo, lose in a split decision, rematch and dominate the second time once worked him out.

Aldo has good leg kicks and i am worried Connor not doing His Weidmann home work and working on his leg checks :(

this endered me towards Connor some more. Teo white guys, one 64 doing "muscle ups" really well. Connor very humble and polite and i felt i saw the real Mcgregor here

Good to see White male commoradory.

I have also noticed that Connor McGregor goes out of his way with the fans. He does have a professional persona, but the "real" McGregor shines when he is away from the lights.

I still hope he beats Aldo. I think the way to Aldo is to take it into the later rounds. Aldo's cardio is his weakness. I would be great if He wins this belt and Arlovski win the heavyweight title.

I have to say, win or lose connor mcgregor style is very pleasing on the eye. He fights like the wrestler rob van dam. Except this is for real. His fluidity and movement very graceful.

It was reported that Aldo will be nursing a bruised rib going in to the McGregor fight. Should be a good one ! I'm expecting King Mac to come out on top.

Aldo chickened out, tough replacement Chad mendes who only loses come from aldo. Wasn't one a very close decision?

Anyway it's for the interim title so should be good :)

This is Connor's opportunity to take the title and not look back.

Aldo can now take his turn behind a long list of fighters that will have to step-up and get knocked back down, one by one as McGregor rakes in the dough.

Menodes is a excellent wrestler and connor will learn from that but he's so athletic. He's like the novak Djokovic of the ufc, his striking is scary good and I thought his take down defence was okay is. Needs work but he's more than capable of improving.

What's your guys thoughts on him or do you feel the fight brought up more questions than answers?
