I know we americans are a little crazy as we don't use the metric system much like the rest of the world. I'm actually asking how many miles per hour he hits at his top end speed? Mosttop sprintershit a top speed of around24 mph or a little higher I believe.

<div></div><div>For example. Usain Bolt averaged 23.2 mph for his world record in the 100 meters. He ran around 28 mph at one point if I remember right. I just looked it up. Bolt hita top speed of 27.3 mph in his world record run.</div>

I think nerves got him at the start. still a great time with allot to improve on. had he gotten a good drive phase he would have been around 9.90-91. sub 20 next week for sure if the weather is good.

Another sub 10 is fantastic! Never expected him to beat Powellespeciallyon this track that Powell always does well.<div>
</div><div>Christophe is still young, underdeveloped. His first 30 meters will improve as hisstrengthto body weight ratio increases. The 1st 30 meters is more due tostrength/power than all out speed.<div>
</div><div>He needs tocontinueto hit the weights hard and explosive, consistently along with his general track work. You dont gain elitestrengthafter a winter workout of weighttraining. it takes a good 2-3 years. He out of all the currentsprintershas the most potential.</div></div>

I've a question for you Zell.

When a sprinter decline ? Or, to clarify, when Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell and Michael Frater (all three was born in 1982) will run "slow" ? Or, when they'll retired ?<div>
</div><div>I think about Brazil 2016 :

Christophe Lemaitre : 26 years old
Usain Bolt : 30
Nesta Carter : 31
Asafa Powell : 34
Michael Fratter : 34
Tyson Gay : 34</span></div>

umm well Twinsen9 of course this is an impossible question hehe.

when they will be retired?i dont know but i think that after 2012, in 2013 Powell and Tyson should be at same level that Lemaitre, about 9.8s, i dont think that they run so fast(sub 9.8) after 30 years and with several injuries year to year. In adition about that year(2013) perhaps they are thinking in retire, and i dont think that Powell and Gay can arrive to 2016 really¡¡¡¡¡

Bolt is a lot of younger and he told that will be retire in 2016 hehe, so i dont think that Powell and Gay have feel to be running until 2016 hehe

Regards

Even though disappointment is understandable, Christophe is still very young and has a ways to go in his training. I'm thrilled that he had a fairly "bad" race and still tied his PB! For a young man who has improved gradually over the past 2 years, I'd be shocked to see him knock 5/100ths or more off his PB every couple of races. Of course it would be great to see something like that but lets remember that he's young and improving naturally. If we were to see huge quick leaps ahead I for one would get suspicious. He's doing remarkably well by nearly every standard, so lets be proud of where CL is right now and what he has done to this point!

In the Caribbean and South America many Blacks intermarried with Aboriginals in isolated areas. Many were escaped slaves who married with the dwindling Aboriginal populations. Jamaica has people from the hills who are descendant of these people.

Well, I think this was a good lesson for Christophe that he can really learn from.
Obviously he has the speed to compete with the best in the world in the 2nd half of the race.
And that speed is good enough to beat everyone in Europe.
But if he wants to compete with the Jamaicans and Americans, he has to work on the 1st half of his race.
There's no debate. It must be done. And now he knows. And I don't doubt that he can do it. But now he really has the motivation.
Asafa always has a great start, so it's not surprising that he was ahead out of the blocks. But the margin that Christophe was left behind him was really substantial.
All credit to Christophe for fighting his way back to 3rd, but now he knows what he needs to do to make it to the top.
I think it was good for him to see that he can run with these guys at top end speed, and also good for him to see that the 1st half of his race must improve a lot.

I enjoy reading your technical comments : )

Here is a nice short interview which took place only days ago :
http://video.lequipe.fr/video/athle...en-avec-christophe-lemaitre/?sig=iLyROoafzoBm

- for the race we saw yesterday, looks like his coach asked him to improve... his finish! But basically he thinks he has to improve EVERYTHING as he only started training 5 years ago.
- the journalist asks him if it because of his bad starts that he prefers 200m rather than 100m. To my surprise he said it's actually the opposite: " I do prefer the 100m, it just seems I have more potential on 200m "
So I would be surprised if he runs only the 200m in the next big competitions as it was remoured, the 100m is what he likes most

If there is a specific part you recognized and you want to be translated, ask me (if you don't mind my broken English)

It's a definite sign of how good Lemaitre is when yet another smashing, sub-10 second performance can be labeled a relative disappointment.

Truly, he's an incredible talent!

He's still young, and given that perhaps he is a later-bloomer physically and probably lays off the PDs, he might not even reach his full potential for another four years.

If he's not a flash in the pan, and he most likely isn't, we'll probably see an elite, prime-years Lemaitre circa 1215 or so...

Indeed, when a 9.95 by Lemaitre gets a ho-hum reaction, that shows you he has arrived as an elite sprinter. Now that he's running consistent sub 10s times, we can definitely expect a time in the 9.8s before the year is out. He has raised our expectations greatly and this is a credit to his immense talent.

Whatever some people think of Asafa powel, it has to be said that he has a perfect technique. look at the video and compare with Lemaitre, from the start to the end , there is a huge gap. Powel seems to fly above the track. So we can be optimistic forthe futur, as Lemaitre runs 9.95 with such technical problems. But to reach the perfection of Powel, it will take years I think. Even with the best coach, he 'll need time to get, what the others got with 10 years of training.

likle everybody, i am a little desapointed because in these conditions, christophe had the tools to run closer to 9.90
it was not really a surprise for me, since i know he is used to run a little slower in the big meetings

but, it still was a very good performance, and he beat carter
this year, he got to the next level, he is now a regular sub 10 sprinter

let's see what he can do in the 200, agains bolt, using his monster top end speed
it will be exciting, since he can beat the french 200m record, and go sub 20 for the first time

must say this went pretty much how I thought it would. I envisioned Powell returning to top form after falling a little short in the second half a few weeks back.
I'm not disappointed at all with Lemaitre's performance (well. a 9.94 would have been nice) as I see him as a very fast 100 guy who'll be a 200 specialist. He just doesn't yet have the power and technique to run much faster at this time.
To me 9.95 while under that pressure and after a relatively average first 30m is fantastic. He will do a 9.90 this year sometime

Meanwhile what is his average over 10 top ten runs?
9.95 x 2
9.96 x 1
9.97 x 1
9.98 x 2
10.00 x 1
10.02 x 1
10.03 x 1
10.05 x 1
Nearly down to 9.99 neat

Powell executed his best for 100 years but we'll have to watch what he does in races that count!
Frater at 28 is at his peak and ran well too. Edited by: mastermulti

Twinsen, Average white top sprinter reaches his PB at 24 years old and black 26.Some can hold ther speed for like 5 years while others decline after there PB every years systematecly. In 2016 there will be plenty of other black sub 10 sprinters.I dont believe in a caste system a lot in sprining more in team sports just my opinion I appreciate other opininons too.

I think which you can see in sub sahran sahara that often a lot of people are close to certain black tribe with differnt qualitys.with the most difference between west african and kenyan, ethiopian. In white people I think nearly nobody or even nobody is 90% of something tribe of whites. You see a bit difference with that R1B haplogroups iberian is the most prevalent in west europe with on average like 50% and slavic east around the same , with viking both east and west europe 50% north to 10% south. Most whites are 3 or 4 differnt tribes over 10% which maked white people a bit less specific and more all allround. The only thing this white tribs that mixed with eachother athletically had in common was maybe strength.

On topic:I hope Christophe leamitre will do some more Hill up and down training most do it only like once a week when it is in fact much more effectif according to studys then horizontal training.Maybe it would be great if he did a lot of hill with a bit horizontal or like 50-50 max.3 degrees vertical makes you body weight feel 5% heavier, but you slow less down like 2.9% I think if you train this like 3 times a week your body would accomodate to this and could theoretically become 2.1% faster. When the angle beomes to bigg you slow more down then then you bodyweight is increasing.(which is beacuse of angle)This is the same principe why light muscle guys have advantage in the mountains with bycicle becuase when you are 10% heavier you need more then 10%( like 17%) more power which make it a disadvantage.Maybe it is good for his trainer to to find out the exact formuleand find out wich amount of degrees vertical is the most optimal.dwonhill is just as important. It is just the time for christophe to di this when I found out he reaches his top and doesn't improve much more from horizontal training.

Not to mention uphill starts. I had good success with age group athletes usingrelativelyhigh amount of hill training. Mostly up but also down. Do we know how </span>Christophe</span>is training?</span>

My translation : In Daegu, I must run faster. I must improve my start and fix my strides. My strides were too long.

Dommage !»

My translation : I don't start. That's all. My reaction time is good, but after I don't run. I think I run as last year.

what makes me sad, is that christophe has no explication to his bad first half
it looks like a psychological thing
maybe while being older, maturing, he won't have this problem

I still failed to define an emotion for the race. I feel some discomfort for CL's third place. The first part of his career was disastrous, but then its final sprint was sensational. Also, this is his third sub 10 inthis month. And he was 21 y.o.

Moreover, Saidy Ndure ran his first sub 10. At least he did not disappoint me. I find many similarities between him and CL. I think when CL is developed muscularly he will be more or less as Saidy Ndure. Of course,we could say that technically Saidy Ndure committed a false start. His reaction was of 0.107 sec, which is within the accepted, but the human ear takes 0.120 sec. to hear the shot. But leggaly he ran his first sub 10.Edited by: the argie

the argie are you discomfort by third place????umm looking that first place was 9.78 and second place 9,88 was almost impossible que Lemaitre get better place in this moment.

Of course we can talk about his very bad first 30m, but although Lemaitre run good these meters he would done about 9.90-9.92, third place yet but very near second place of course.

Lemaitre is not really much better that last year, he improved his reaction time in 0.03-0.05 so he get records the last weeks, but he is not running faster in reality.

But i must that in Daegu he improve a few it, and we can see a solid 9.90
