Chavez has no defense, and Martinez will honestly annihilate this guy. So would Golovkin or Pirog. Chavez won't be a champion for long, and I suspect his handlers will realize his vulnerability and avoid fighting any of the top10ish guys in the division.

Agreed, I noticed this as well.

However, I was happy to see that Reiss did not penalize Zbik. The warnings were too frequent and sometimes without cause.

I did feel his officiating was questionable and biased towards favouring Chavez.

Agreed 100%. He needed to dominate or a KO to win the fight. Winning a close fight just wasn't going to happen. In a neutral location this fight is a draw or Zbik close decision win.

One final comment on Max Kellerman. His commentating was surprisingly accurate tonight. He seemed to be implying in round 12 that Chavez was behind on the cards and needed a KO to win. Kellerman also emphasized that Chavez had been significantly outlanded.

It was surprising to hear that from Max because usually his comments are very proAmerican antiEuro.

Maybe the fact that Europeans dominate the sport is finally getting to him (I notice in every HBO broadcast when he talks about the beltholders in every division, theyre always European. lol. Guess thats finally getting through to him)

BoxingFanUk, now we are going to see Arum and HBO feed Chavez a steady diet of "neverwheres or never will be's" like they did for another HBO black fighter, Berto who ass was kicked by Ortiz a couple of months ago. After a while pressure will build and he will be forced to fight Pirog where the end will come. I think Chavez should go done to 154 lbs and fight in a Huge money fight with Cotto.

Yes I agree, that is the most likely route HBO and Arum will take.

Chavez has no defense, is a KO waiting to happen, and has a lot of vulnerabilities. I don't think he beats any of the top10 middleweights in the World (those being Sturm, N'Dam, Martinez, Golovkin, Pirog, Geale, Sylvester, Macklin, Rubio, Lee)

I honestly don't think Chavez will beat any of those guys. Maybe Rubio and Lee but those are big "maybe's".

Honestly, even giving Chavez a diet of "bums" still might see Chavez losing his belt.

His skillset and defense is painfully absent and he was extremely fortunate to be facing a non-puncher in Zbik.

If the Pirog that fought Jacobs were to fight Chavez look for a violent ko similar to Jacob's loss. I'm not even sure Chavez could beat the limited but dangerous Jacobs. Look for Arum to match Jr. with arm punchers and old shot fighters. Maybe Antwun Echols will have his name called(if a boxing commission will sanction it). Also that referee was clearly a house ref. as Zbik was warned too many times for pushing down on Jr's neck but Chavez was never warned for low blows or head butts. Edited by: white is right

I think HBO will toss him a softie, then the pressure will build. I see Lee KO'ing Chavez by rd 6. Chavez if he was smart and wanted to make big money and look good, go after Cotto. He is too slow at 160 lbs. Coming in at 180 lbs seriously slowed his movements compared to his breakout fight a year ago against Duddy. I appears that he age over night with last nights laboring performance.

I saw a rerun of the fight, and the ref is clearly on Bob Arum's payroll, he actually let Chavez get away with low blows in the last 2 rounds. You normally force fighters to "reset stance" in that situation. He was clearly siding with Chavez, to give Zbik more hardship.

Most of Chavez's best shots were body blows (including low blows), but Zbik weathered them nicely, and made several sneaky head shot combinations. The British judge (scored 116-112) is another one on Bob Arum's payroll.

Personally thought it was a draw...obviously Zbik wins the first half of the fight but Chavez did seem to land the harder blows towards the end.

Chavez is a limited fighter with his father's name, that Arum will continue to make money with all the SDMFs(Serious Drunk Mexican Fans)who follow him. Anyone sober knows that Sergio Martinez(Undsiputed Middle Weight Champion) in the words of ESPN's Dan Rafael would do unspeakable things to him.
