No Beatles music has been posted. Understandable I suppose, given that Lennon and McCartney both had brains that turned to mush on cultural matters. They sure did write some good tunes, though. Here's Deep Purple doing a somewhat progressive cover of Help. I wonder where the two little blond girls come from that pop up in the background at the end of the video.

Youtube is amazing. The talented nobodies of the world have a place to showcase their abilities.

I don't ususally care for the saxophone. For some reason the sound to my ears is just too harsh, irritating and loud. I make exceptions for musicians like Stan Getz and Paul Desmond who were more sensitive, more subtle than most. Hate the yakkety sax stuff.

Anyway, this old guy is tremendous, very smooth and fluid. You'd never know it from looking at him.

The Kinks "All Day and All of the Night" and "You Really Got Me" are still as good or better than 99 percent of what passes for pop music these days. As teenagers back in the disco-soaked 1970s my friends and I turned to 60s rock like that. I feel certain that other kids like us were doing the same thing at that time and it helped spawn the Punk and New Wave that really rolled in in the 1980s.

Thanks for the Chet Baker. My mom used to play him on the record player back when I was a kid, good memories.Edited by: Bronk

As I have just posted a couple of clips from the film "Snatch" in the "Best Ever White-over-black TV beatdown" thread, I was reminded of the following song, which featured on the soundtrack...

THE STRANGLERS - GOLDEN BROWN:

Here's the relevant scene from the film (please pardon the presence of the poncey Brad Pitt)

The followingclip shows a portion of a documentary about the Australianbush band"The Bushwhackers" in which they perform "The Ballad of Ben Hall" (the uploader erroneously titles the video as "The Streets of Forbes", which is a different folk song about the same bushranger). Incidentally, my current avatar depicts Ben Hall

. In order to avoid confusion (as I am sure to change it at some point) here it is:

There is a bit commentary over the top of the song at one point but it's still a bonzer piece, and probably my favourite Australian folk tune.

Now, as "The Streets of Forbes" has been mentioned, here is a version:

From Estonia, enjoy:

Note: At least judging by this video, it does not appear that Estonia has been blessed with the joys of diversity and cultural enrichment, yet. It might one of a handful of countries in the world that might still be almost 100% White.
