I honestly think Hillis is going to be fine next year with playing time.

On April 1 I am making the proclamation that Hillis will be the Browns starting HB come week 1 of the 2011 NFL Season. Not only that but he will get 75% + of the carries during the year. He now has a full season's worth of talent on film that would be impossible for the new coach and even Holmgren to ignore. It is the NFL and they know full well the caste system but they also know its a WIN NOW league. If they want to be around in 4 years will they really use Hardesty?

I agree and he is also a huge fan favorite and the face of the franchise, it won't be easy to screw him out of his starting tailback job without the fans going nuts.

I'm going to agree with both of you guys and be optimistic. Hillis should see about 3/4 of the carries next season. What happened to Mike Furrey makes me think a little though.

Dixie, Hills has made even the most stringent DWFs up here in NE Ohio say "Lebron who?". The man is a star up here with #40 jerseys everywhere in sight! By far the most popular Browns player since #19 Bernie Kosar was taking snaps behind center.

Here's another interesting article on Peyton that brings up the race issue. As pathetic and annoying as the DWFs can be, Hillis's national popularity shows that a significant slice of them aren't anti-White, even if they have no clue about, or understanding of, the Caste System. They've ingestedanti-White Cultural Marxistpropaganda their entire lives and it has never been intelligently contradicted or discredited, except for those who have found their way to Caste Football (and the increasing number we have influenced who now call out the negative stereotyping and some of the absurdities a lot more often than before on comments after articles). If organizations like Indianapolis, New England and Green Bay continue to be relatively White friendly teams, and continue to be successful most seasons, there are bound to be some other teams that begin to follow suit. We may even see some surprises come out of the 2011 NFL Draft. I've never seen a draft look as unpredictable as this one does so close to its actual occurrence. It will probably end up following the usual script, but there's a chance it won't.
Peyton Hillis: Where Does His Sudden Popularity Come From?

By GB Bongiovanni

It has been a tough few years for the fans of Cleveland, who have been without a championship since 1964, but the popularity of running back Peyton Hillis of the Cleveland Browns could have him emerge victorious and on the cover of Madden 2012.

The Browns finished the 2010 NFL season with only five wins, hold the sixth pick in the upcoming 2011 NFL draft, and still have somehow managed to have a player represent them in the Madden cover selection.

Peyton Hillis deserves every bit of publicity he gets.

Hillis was the Browns' offense for 2010. He was 12th in rushing with 1,164 yards and 11 touchdowns and was 36th in the league in receptions with 60, third among running backs in that category.

Go ahead and try to find another white running back who has amassed at least 1,000 yards rushing; you won't find one in 2010 other than Peyton Hillis. In fact, the last white running back to gain at least 1,000 yards was Craig James of the New England Patriots in 1985.

Peyton Hillis has publicly said that during the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens games, many of his opponents would talk trash by saying, "Come on white boy, you can't run,"Â￾ and etc"¦ Hillis was only inspired and it has showed.

Despite those that believe race has no place in the NFL the fact that his opposing teams call him out for being white proves that it's not just speculation.

pixel.gif
Peyton Hillis, who was ranked 10th in the bracket challenge, knocked out Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, just edged Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, smoked Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, and in a shocker K.O.'d Aaron Rodgers of the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers.

In another odd appearance, his competition is Michael Vick, who if I understood right, was going to get knocked out early by all those haters.

The winner of the Hillis-Vick showdown will be announced April 27 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Is the reason for Peyton's sudden popularity because of his play, because of the Browns faithful, or is it because he is a minority as white running back?

While on the Dan Patrick Show, Hillis stated he was a team player and kept his mouth shut. He wanted nothing else but to get on the field. When the Broncos traded him he was upset at first, but now that he has found a home in Cleveland the Broncos are nothing but a distant memory.

"When you walk around Cleveland, the fans are starving for a winner and a successful team, and you saw how upset they were when LeBron left,"Â￾ Hillis said. "You just want to win it for them. "¦The fans support you, and even in my home state I don't get as much recognition as I do in Cleveland."Â￾

He's even started getting nicknames like Chuck Norris and the Albino Rhino, but despite the trash being talked to him by the other players he continues to excel.

pixel.gif
Kelly Carroll, manager of the Cleveland Browns team's official fan club "Browns Backers"Â￾, said earlier this week "It's no surprise to me that he ended up pulling ahead, and I'd attribute that a lot to our Browns Backers across the country."Â￾

Carroll praised Browns fans nationwide for a social-media-driven grassroots campaign that led to the upset, but now that Peyton Hillis is up against the media monster that is Michael Vick, will his race and good natured status be what actually propels him to be the winner?

No matter what is propelling him to the cover, this running back continues to power over others and has the entire city of Cleveland behind him.

I hope the "Hillis Curse" on black RBs continues, and Hardesty proves to be as fragile in the NFL as he was at Tennessee.

Montario Hardesty is key to Cleveland Browns' backfield plan: 2011 NFL Draft preview

by Tony Grossi

Browns coach Pat Shurmur envisions a two-man backfield of Montario Hardesty and Peyton Hillis jumpstarting his West Coast offense.

Both are adept at running with short passes -- extended handoffs in the West Coast offense -- which is a mandatory skill-set in that system. On conventional running downs, Hillis certainly is big enough to serve as a lead blocker. Hardesty can run pass patterns when Hillis is the main ball carrier.

It all hinges, of course, on Hardesty's ability to come back from torn ACL surgery and stay healthy.

"He's on track to be able to perform in the fall," Shurmur said recently. "We're very pleased with his progress. We feel as though he'll make a total recovery, and be able to compete and make our running back corps better."

Hardesty and Hillis represent possibly the worst and best of Heckert's GM work in his first season.

Despite a history of injuries at Tennessee, Heckert traded a third- and two fifth-round draft picks to move into the second round to select Hardesty last April. Hardesty proceeded to miss the first month of practice with a bone bruise suffered the week before training camp. He got on the field for the fourth preseason game and suffered a torn knee ligament on his seventh carry.

"We thought Montario was a really good football player," Heckert said. "We just thought there was maybe a little more risk because of the injuries, but we went ahead and did it anyway. We'll see how that works out in the end."

Hardesty's season-ending injury opened the door for Hillis, whom Heckert acquired from Denver as a virtual throw-in in the Brady Quinn trade. Hillis, of course, became a local icon and team MVP, rushing for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Hillis' bruising running style wore him down. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry through 11 games; 3.8 over the final five.

The Browns have no proven running backs under contract beyond Hillis. It's a position that can be filled in free agency.

If they opt for the draft, they probably will wait for the middle rounds. They have looked at Shane Vereen of California and DeMarco Murray of Oklahoma -- two of the draft's best pass catchers out of the backfield.
. . . The switch to the West Coast offense -- plus his contract status -- puts Vickers' future in doubt. If Hardesty can recover from ACL surgery, it's reasonable that he and Hillis can share the backfield, with Hillis taking on the role of lead blocker in certain situations. Coach Pat Shurmur wants both backs to be adept at running and catching. Overall, there is a need for a dependable backup in case Hardesty struggles to regain his college form.

I certainly hope that article is nothing more than the daydreams of that DWF writer. If any of that information comes from the coaches themselves, Hillis's career as a "running" back are over.

On conventional running downs, Hillis certainly is big enough to serve as a lead blocker. Hardesty can run pass patterns when Hillis is the main ball carrier.

Translation: Hillis moves into Vickers's slot next season. Lining up as the fullback in the offset-I. And when they want an extra receiver, the motion Hardesty out and keep Hillis tucked in behind the QB, where he pass protects and gets an occasional dive play.

If they opt for the draft, they probably will wait for the middle rounds. They have looked at Shane Vereen of California and DeMarco Murray of Oklahoma -- two of the draft's best pass catchers out of the backfield.

Hillis was one of the best pass-catching RBs of all time in college. Selecting a RB in the draft for that reason would be a step down in ability.

If Hardesty can recover from ACL surgery, it's reasonable that he and Hillis can share the backfield, with Hillis taking on the role of lead blocker in certain situations.

And he reiterates the point.
The first few games of the season will determine whether or not Shurmur ascends instantly to Public Enemy #1.

Riddlewire, I don't think it means Hillis' career is over at all. At this point it is probably only the difference between whether Hillis gets 200 carries or 300+ next season. Here are some things to consider:

1. We see how much McDaniels has been questioned and scorned for benching Hillis and trading him for Brady Quinn. I see it all over message boards and even most DWFs snicker at that trade. There are very few defenders of McDaniels left on this issue.

2. Hillis has been used as the poster boy on the Browns' team homepage to sell tickets, is a fan favourite and the team has even launched a campaign to get him on the Madden Cover which I predict he wins!

3. Hillis WILL win the Madden Cover! There is no way Shurmur makes him the primary FB from the "FIRST GAME" this season with all the fan support and legitimacy as a great HB Hillis has gotten, even in this EXTREME caste era.

4. Hillis would have to struggle through mediocrity in his production, EVEN MORE SEVERE fumbling AND struggling to stay healthy- along with Hardesty playing like a top 10 starter in the league, the whole first half of the season to make Hillis the backup HB in the mid season. I'm not saying this last scenario couldn't happen, but let's see some true signs of it before we panic.

5. If Hillis is McDanieled again from day one next year and there is no major outcry/ outrage in Cleveland and around the league than we all oughta just give up and stop posting right now. Let's try to show a little more optimism after the minor progression last season showed in the NFL!

Then again with McDaniels arrival in Denver, White Noise was made to look like a genius after almost all of us thought he was way too pessimistic. This time I don't think the situation will repeat itself though. Shurmur, Heckert, Holmgren and the Browns' owner Lerner have too much to lose with the fans!

That writer, Toni Grossi (refuse to spell it tony lol), in the article Don posted is a caste whore. He unfortunately is the Browns' beat reporter for the Plain Dealer, Cleveland's MAIN newspaper. Some people have written to him asking about Ohio State WR Dane Sanzenbacher (you know a local guy everyone likes) getting drafted by Browns and he gives them nothing! Just a report from some draft nerd living in his parents basement. Though if someone mentions Julio Jones or AJ Green, Toni Grossi is their personal cheerleader.

All the other Browns writers at the PD have been complimentary towards Peyton as have the other papers' writers in and around Cleveland. This Grossi guy though just has it in for the white RB.

Peyton Hillis will grace the cover of Madden 2012 after defeating Michael Vick in the last round of a voting tournament.
</div>
<div ="impact">
Hillis is a quintessential candidate for the "Madden Curse"
because his production almost certainly won't approach his 2010 stats.
The bulldozing 25-year-old set career highs with 270 carries, 1,117
rushing yards, and 11 touchdowns last season. He also caught 61 balls
for 477 yards and two more scores. Hillis will be a timeshare back with
Montario Hardesty in 2011.

Appearing on PFT Live Wednesday, GM Tom Heckert acknowledged that Peyton Hillis was overworked as the Browns' feature back last year.
</div>
<div ="impact">
Heckert took blame for striking out on acquiring another
capable back after Montario Hardesty's ACL tear, although in his defense
he did sort of try with Mike Bell. The Browns never thought much of
Jerome Harrison. Hillis wound up with 270 carries, and in his career
before then he had a total of 81. He averaged 4.78 YPC in the first
eight games, but just 3.82 in the final eight.
</div>
Arian Foster had 327 carries, Michael Turner had 334, Ray Rice 307, and Ahmad Bradshaw had 276. All these backs, with the exception of Turner, are smaller backs than Hillis. I sure hope he gets at least 250 carries this season.

He may have been overworked in a few games, but 270 carries OVER THE WHOLE SEASON is by no means overworked. In fact I'd like to see Hillis have 25-50 more carries next season. I just hope that it is more evenly spread out game to game.

My point exactly. A lot of articles have been stating that Hillis will split carries with Hardesty this season, something like 50/50. I sure hope that doesn't happen because it's unlikely he get's a 1,000 yards.

Why do the Browns seem to think that the answer to having one RB and no passing attack is to get another RB? Hillis' workload wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't the only player on offense that opposing defenses pay attention to.

The Browns drafted Owen Marecic, a white athletic FB out of Stanford. He played both ways for a while under Jim Harbuagh. The possibility exists for an all white backfield, assuming that Vickers isn't resigned (which is a strong possibility) Also with Evan Moore, and another white TE they drafted, they could have like up to 9 whites on the field at once!

I think they may be saying that Hillis was overworked because caught 61
passes too and also blocked. Hillis's YPC went down because teams
started to stack the LOS to stop Hillis since the Browns had NO other
offensive threat and also because Hillis was playing injured for the
last few weeks. Hillis's "just 3.82 (YPC) in the final eight" games were still higher than Rice's YPC for the whole season.

He didn't even have a back to come in a for a breather, he WAS the Browns offense. In a normal offense he could handle 350+ carries and average over 5 ypc. I am glad they drafted Marecic, I noticed Marecic didn't block as hard for the new backs at Stanford after Gerhart was gone, he was still good but the intensity died off a little bit. Its understandable, usually fullbacks block much harder for a guy they know is going to be just as physical and fight for every yard after contact. By this assumption, he will block better for Hillis rather than Hardesty, plus Hillis is a better at setting up/following his blocks. Hardesty, hopefully will only come in for about 100 carries at the MOST, with Hillis getting anywhere from 250-350.Edited by: dwid

He had a few games where he was playing through the equivalent of a charlie horse in hockey. It was amazing to me to see him hobbling after the play but not losing virtually any speed when he had the adrenaline flowing. He actually played similar to fast big back when had the thigh injury as he had virtually no cut back ability. The cut back ability is what separates him from a Brandon Jacobs.
