One thing about Vicaut pushing behind is that itt will for sure push Christophe to run faster and keep the level high,to keep at least his supremacy on thenational level "at least!" another french emerging will be, I'm sure, of a great benefit for Christophe..
but I agree with WL that we're here for Christophe,Vicautunder the 10 will not makesuch an impact -maybe just in France- but that's all

Ok guys. It's about time. The womens 60 meters final is first. I'm rooting for Olesya Povh because she is the female Lemaitre at the moment. Olesya Povh has not lost a race all year long. Talk about dominance! I also like her teammate MariyaRyemyen. It should be a great race as France has a chance in the finals with Mang and Soumare too. Almost time for Christophe! Incredible jump by Teddy. He is number one in the world for a reason!

I'm very happy for Olesya and Mariya. They went 1-2 in the finals. The two of them are best friends, roommates and now the two fastest women in Europe! WOW! Olesya Povh is possibly the most dominant womens sprinter in the world at the moment. She has not lost a race all season. I'm very excited to see what she can do outdoors. Edited by: white lightning

Bad start for Christophe !

Christophe got a bad start again and it cost him. He took the bronze medal running a time of 6.58 seconds. Obikwelu took gold and Chambers got the silver medal. The old guys cleaned house today with both of them being in the 30's. DiGregario ran a p.b. for 4th of 6.59 and Mbandjock finished in 5th. You could see how sad Lemaitre was. He looked crushed to lose in front of his home crowd. At least he got a medal. Time for him to take a rest and then start to focus on the outdoor season!

a bit disapointed for that result.. but not resigned..

I have taped both finals (men and women) I'll put them as soon as I forget his 3rd palce!

There is a girl who I'm starting hating so much (for french ppl who watched on fr3), Christine Arron is undermining Christophe a lot: at the end of the race, christophe was in the middle of Chambers and Obikwelu, and Stephane Diagana said that it is disapointing that the podium wasn't in that order, SHE found that hilarious and was giggling!
I've heard her another time saying that LemaÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â®tre wasn't something special and we're only talking about him because he's white..

I would not start with strength training till I would stop improving without it.I know you could be probably theoritically improve from it but it can be hurting speed too en increase injuries and eats energie from you training of just the sprinting practise.But you guys know i am a bit negative about strength training with weights just like Michael Phelps.

I'm a little sad but still very proud of Christophe. He ran in the 6.50's every round. He just needed to start better. He can run down guys in the 100 but in the 60 there just isn't enough time. Obikwelu went from retired to a european lead. Where did that come from? He sure did find the fountain of youth quickly. At the end of the day, Lemaitre still got a medal. I can live with that even though it's not the medal we all wanted him to get. If nothing else, this will motivate him even more to train like he never has. This summer is going to be awesome!

Strength training is a must but has to be incorporated slowly. i think Christophe went all out in too short of time in regards to strength training. He is still not healed. The body takes time to adapt to intense new training. Remember what I said in my last post - Christophe is only 20 and still has not matured fully. He still carries the youthful, awkward, 'teenager' physique, not a full adult male build. He will peak in 3-5 years with the European 100 and 200 records. If the 60m final was held next week, Christophe would have won in 6.51.<div>

Nice to see Christophe so consistently under 6.6, but his start just wasn't there today. In the meanwhile, it's worth noting that the two that beat him are 1) Chambers--lifetime suspension from Olympics for steroid use, and 2) Obikwelu--also recently got red-handed, but not yet officially charged. It's one of the 2 operations that spain did to unmask a wide doping structure including high level athletes: Operation PUERTO, then operation GALGO. The majority of the sportsmen and women involved are cyclists, but all the sports are touched. After Puerto, few were charged because of technical details, and some unwillingness of the spanish authorities to charge some of their top athletes.
but anyway, the name of Obikwelu has not yet been involved so.. no need to accuse him, he's not doing super times neither.. and even in today's shape he won't be a real thread for Christophe Edited by: bk21

In my honest opinion, it's his drive phase that has always been his biggest problem. Even when he gets out of the blocks quickly, he loses ground most of the time to the other sprinters. They need to get this fixed. Yes it would be better if he were stronger but that is not the only excuse. I think he needs to get his legs separated more in the drive phase. It seems to me like he keeps them too close together and there for cannot gain the necessary power needed to accelerate quickly. It can be fixed but it will take alot of work. I hope his coach can see this and get it taken care of. It has always been his biggest weakness and yet he still wins most of the time. What an amazing sprinter. I can't wait till he puts it all together and continues to grow into his body.

One more thing. Bk21 is correct in seeing how happy she was to see him lose. I have seen this far too many times in my life. Especially in boxing. Look at how hated the Klitschkos are despite being very educated, polite and exciting. They are hated by many around the world just because of the color of their skin. If she continues to act like that, they should replace her. I doubt it will happen though because whites are always discriminated against and it's ok on radio, the newpaper and tv. If you did that to any other ethnicity, you would be fired. It's a double standard and it goes on all over the world. Whites are often looked down on regardless of their acheivements. Very sad.

That is why I will always point out racism when I see it. Any color can be racist. People should be proud of their ethnicity, and culture but with out putting themselves above everyone else. Whites in general need to be more proud of their culture and traditions and stick up for each other the same way miniorities too. The european culture is beautiful and should be celebrated.

WL I don't know how it is in the USA because I've never been there, but here it is exagerated to say that there is an anti-white racism in France: blacks are still discriminated in access to house rentand employment.. but certainly not in sport, and in criticism which is still considered as "politically incorrect!"
my analysis of this is that it is a "counterbalance" of recent past history of apartheid and segregation and so: actual whites are exagerating in trying to "level" every ethnicities to the same criterias of democracy, culture etc..
for example Sarkozy wanted to instaure a "positive discrimination"or better known in the US as "affirmative action", forcing tv channels to have a percentage of "visible minority" on screen (anchors, journalists, etc..).. but he abandonned this idea
this "exageration" in my opinion will not stand longtime and a healthy equilibrium will replace itin the next years, with the future generations, who does'nt have to carry the burden of the past discrimination history because for them "apartheid", "segregation" will only be something they learn in history manuals.
like for example, to make a parallel, the sad past of the jews under nazis is still carried by Europe, like Germany, and France of Vichy, and the slightest CRITICISM or JOKE on that is immediately sanctioned in court.. in the same time, a very bad joke on the christianism, is considered "liberty of expression"..

thanks for posting the video links, gentlemen.

Christophe fell asleep in the blocks, but once again he showed his amazing closing speed to make the race competitive. as white lightning said, the 60 is just too short for him to get such a poor start and hope to recover. there's not nearly enough ground left as compared to the 100.

all in all, though, i was pleased with the result. the look on Christophe's face at the third-place finish leads me to believe this performance has only made him hungrier for the outdoor season.

About the racism, I don't know howit is in the US but here, in Spain, I lived 5 five illegal and I didn't have any problem for one reason: I'm white. But I remember when I was in the subway and the police were coming, they never asked me for anything, but if there was any black...he was the first one whom they were asking for the documentation.

About CL, a radio speaker asked Angel David Rodriguez, a white sprinter, if CL would come at the level of Bolt. Angel, laughing, said that probably, in some years,he might run in 9.90 but nothing more. Michael Johnson, the black 200 and 400 meters olympic champion, after having seen the 200 meters final in Barcelona, said that he would like CL was American athlete. So, for me, it's not a question of color.

my concern about Lemaitre is that he didn't run faster than last year at the same moment on 60 m race. That means for me that in one year he didn't improve at all his main problem: the start phase. I wonder how he can improve his time on 100 m race, without any improvement on the first 20 m.
