I found this guy in one of ToughJ's old high school posts in regards to Dax Dilbeck, who was relegated to safety. Brandon Hardin played in every game last year for the Beavers, and looks like a real stud. As ToughJ mentioned, he's one of the fastest players on the team. Here is his bio and his interview.

Being that a CB in a BCS FBS is such an anomoly, we might want to keep a good watch on this talented player. Cheers!

I had forgotten about this guy. A white CB in FBS football is even more of an anomaly than a white RB

. Good luck to Brandon to continue to beat the odds (to the chagrin of the caste masters and DWFs)!

Yeah Hardincaught my attention in last year's Bowl Game...a starting white cornerback will do that. Seems like he put on a little more weight at 219...intriguing size at 6'2"...a little heavier than Sehorn back in the day.

Will definetly keep an eye on him this year!

Does anyone know about how many starting white running back and cornerbacks we will have this year in Division 1? I know it's very early but just a general idea.

Here are some RBs:

Rex Burkhead, Nebraska. (Won't start, but will have equal carries to Helu.)

Tyler Gaffney, Stanford. (He should start)

John Mosure, Colorado State.

Sam McGuffie, Rice.

Derek Lawson, Arkansas State. (Maybe)

Brandon Bourbon, Kansas. (It's possible)

Brandon Wegher, Iowa. (Won't start, but should see a nice chunk of carries.)

One of the white Northwestern backs might start. If I'm missing anyone, please tell me.

I remember reading a post recently saying that Gaffney he was tearing it up on the diamond and was the favorite to start.

Good list Lambert, but don't forget:
Jersey Joe Martinek, Rutgers:
I suspect he will see 2/3s to 3/4 of the RB carries this year- with almost all the rest going to scatback De'Antwan Williams (Williams may earn almost half the RB carries if he plays very well). Rutgers does run the wildcat with WR Muhammad Sanu a fair bit though. This might make it tough for Martinek to break 1,000 yards- to get the notoriety a white RB needs for the next level. (The media, DWFs, GMs and scouts will completely ignore great white RBs whose production isn't ridiculously good- due to lack of carries or injury ie. Jake Sharp).

John Goebel, Cincinnati: He could start off the year seeing 1/4 to 1/3 of the carries behind Isaiah Pead and may have a chance to see almost half the carries if his play really stands out (and even more if Pead gets fumblitis, under performs or gets hurt). Look for him to fill Jacob Ramsey's role from last year.

Bryan Kariya, J.J DiLuigi and Drew Phillips, BYU: These three guys combined should see most of the carries. I'm expecting BYU to use halfback by committee this year with Harvey Unga expelled from the football team for an honor code violation for premarital sex (with his fiance no less). Expect Kariya to be the powerback, DiLuigi to be the scatback and Phillips to be used like Percy Harvin and maybe take over more of DiLuigi's scatback role as the season progresses b/c I think Phillips is the most talented back of the three.

There also should be some service academy white guys toting the rock, but I'm less familiar with these guys. Mike may be the guy to inquire with about that.

Thanks Tough! I knew I forgot some just looking at my list. I'm surprised I forgot Joe. Oh dear, all this research must be getting to me lol. I just realized I forgot the BYU trio just before I saw this post. Goebel was a slip of the mind I guess.

I'm going to post an Army preview up real soon, and Army has a slotback and a fullback who tote the rock. Army runs some type of Option offense.

Jameson Carter is the SB, and Jared Hassin is the FB.

Jared Tew is a primary ball carrier for Air Force at FB.

So total, we should look forward to around 16 guys getting good chunks of their teams' carries.

These 16 guys are spread among 12 teams with enough guts to let white men run the ball. I'm not sure but I think this is better than last year.Edited by: Jack Lambert

No need to blush Lambert, I forget minor things all the time. I know you know of all the guys I mentioned- as you are a text book of football knowledge, but just didn't have time to sit and ponder over a post since we all have other jobs. Lambert, I appreciate your efforts tremendously with all the FBS football previews. I don't have nearly as much time this year as other years when I helped out some and my laptop isn't working right right now. I'm using my wife's when I can. I work 6 days a week from 12:00 to 9:00 PM and only post before bed or when I wake up constantly during the night/early morning.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Lambert, thanks for the info on the service academy guys. I usually know little about those guys. I do hope to see John Howell or Bo Snelson get carries for their service academies though. As I remember, both are attending them. I watched Howell's game tape and he looked like a phenom!

I haven't watched much Oregon St football recently, but I was impressed with Hardin in the game tonight against Washington. The guy is huge for a CB. Here is his bio on the Oregon St website:

5648878.jpeg

2010: For a cornerback, Brandon has exceptional size ... enters the year the projected starter at right cornerback ... started three games last season ... a standout on special teams ... one of the top overall athletes on the roster, including one of the fastest ... likely the tallest starting CB in the Pac-10. 2009: Brandon rotated into the game on a regular basis and played nearly as much as the starters ... three starts ... made first career interception and start in the same game at Arizona State ... set a career-high with six tackles at California ... led the team with 11 special teams tackles ... offseason surgery on his wrist ... Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention. 2008: Played a majority of the season with cast on his broken hand and a sprained wrist on the other arm ... 13 tackles for the season, including three vs. California. 2007: Redshirt.

KAMEHAMEHA: Two-year starter and three-year letterman playing for former OSU graduate assistant coach Kanani Souza ... first team all-state as a senior and played in the Goodwill Game ... second team all-state as a junior ... three-year letterman in track as a jumper and sprinter ... won six medals at the 2007 state tack meet, including gold in the 100 meters ... helped the program win the 2005 state title in both football and track.

PERSONAL: Born October 30, 1989 in Kealakekua, Hawai'i ... son of Kevin Hardin and Christine Young ... has two siblings ... member of the National Honor Society and was on the school's academic honor roll numerous times ... selected for the Hawai'i High School Hall of Honor for his achievements in the classroom, and in football and track ... chose OSU because "it's a big school with a small-town feeling; I feel that I can flourish on and off the football field" ... majoring in business administration.
