Say good bye to another great quarterback. Brees signed with the Saints for $60 million. Can't blame him for taking the cash, but I doubt he'll ever see the Super Bowl with that franchise.

Goodbye Drew, it was a nice run you had there in San Diego.

And good luck to you as well - you're going to need it.

He has a chance in a few years. The Saints do have some good white talent. Colby Bockwoldt is a good young LB and they also signed Scott Fujita. Brian Howard is a very underrated defensive tackle and has been the best on the team since he has been there. Chase Lyman has injury problems but if he can stay healthy than he is going to be good, he has both size and speed. Hopefully they draft some white talent...Haslett is not there anymore so alot of the bufoons should be gone. Im very happy to see the end of Aaron Brooks who every sports commentator loves to give excuses for.

I can find absolutely no information on Lyman's rehab. Assuming he can make it back from his latest knee injury, he'll be basically a rookie that we can root for along with Hass, Anderson, Bloom and Bergeron.Lyman has tremendous talent --considering that he missed a lot of his college career with injuries, including most of his senior season, and still was drafted in the 4th round says a lot about his potential. Let's hope he can get healthy and stay healthy. Edited by: Don Wassall

Chase Lyman reminds me of Richard Dice of the U of A Wildcats. He has had such tough luck with injuries.I wouldn't count him out just yet though.Hopefully the Saints will be patient with him.Even Brandon Stokley had some bad injuries early in his career and now is a outstanding wide receiver.

This is the best article I could find about Chase, written right after he blew his knee out last May. He says he rehabbed too quickly from his previous knee injury and intends to come back from this one. He was averaging over 32 yards per catch his senior year at Cal before hurting his knee.

I also forgot about Mike Karney the hardnosed FB who is one of my fav players and Zach Hilton a former UNC basketball player turned nfl tight end. Hilton had a very good year last year plaing for the injured Boo Williams and Ernie Conwell. He is around 6'6 or 6'7 and has great hands. I think Brees will use him like they used Gates in San Diego.

What is Brees thinking going to the 'Aints???

At least with the Chargers (not exactly the best run Franchise in the world either) he had Ladanian Tomlinson to hand off too. Having a good running game can make the QBs job ALOT easier, Brees is going to have some rough years ahead.

He's think about the money and not having to look over his shoulder at Phillip Rivers anymore. He will be the man for the Saints.

Deuce McAllister is a good RB when healthy, and this was a team who was always in the mix up until this past year.. I don't think Brees will put them into the playoffs, but I think he took the money to play in NO in case he continues to have problems with that injured shoulder. Sometimes these injuries become chronic and he may become very injury prone.. a legit concern and good reason to take the money while it is there. I hope he bounces back nicely and continues to be one of the best QBs in the NFL.

The Saints (pending the upcoming draft) may be better than we think. A healthy Brees is a big upgrade over Brooks. I wonder if Brees will take his millions and remove that big birthmark on his face? Probably not, the girls most likely swoon over him anyway.

Talking of the Saints, can anyone think of a white true running back (not FB)that started for an NFL team more than a couple of times in a season since Gil Fennerty?

Chris Horn WR was signed by the Saints. He was on the Chiefs and this gives the Saints 2 white WRs

I believe Fenerty was the last true white tailback to start, way back in 1991! And he was just one of three starting tailbacks on the Saints that year if memory serves.

I just did a search, and the Saints also had Dalton Hilliard and Craig "Ironhead" Hayward as TBs that year. Fred McAfee the fullback (who is still in the league, remarkably) had 494 yards. Fenerty was second on the team with 477 yards and a 3.4 average. He never played in the NFL again after that season and only had a 2-year career.

Hayward was one of those criminally-prone types. When he played for the U. of Pittsburgh, he was arrested for picking up a 12-year-old paperboy and hurtling him through the air. Hayward weighed about 280 pounds at the time, in fact he may have been the heaviest RB ever. A real sweetheart of a guy.

Interesting that Horn has left the Chiefs. I think he was their sole remaining white receiver, unless they have signed someone.

I heard a local reporter call Drew a passing savant. Clever.

Drew Brees will soon surpass 25,000 career passing yards!

After his 4 TD performance against the Packers, he now has 156 passing TD's. Not bad for a 2nd Round pick.

Even though the Saints' sumo o-line isn't very good, Brees is a master at sensing pressure and either moving to buy time or throwing the ball just before a defender can sack him. His touch and accuracy are outstanding. He's playing the position at about as high a level as it can beplayed.

Brees is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league, and consistantly carries the Saints. Running game? Who needs one when Brees is such a damn machine. I put him very close to the level of play of Manning and Brady, with half the media hype. It a shame.

Yes along with Drew Brees: Ben Rothlisberger and Kurt Warner are also stellar white QBs with bad Sumo O-lines protecting them. Warner has revived his career this year in his late 30s despite porous blocking. I am amazed at how well he has done! Kudos to all three of the talented white QBs who are playing stellar without the help of athletic O-lines!

Remember when the great Drew Brees was proclaimed a bust by the media and DWFs very early in his career? Check out this video. Ignore the negro actor hired to portray an archer (How many of the top archers in the world are black? If it's more than one tenth of one percent I'll be surprised.) I'd love to see how any black QB, including McNabb, would compare to Brees' accuracy; none are anywhere close to being in his league.

heh, its funny reading the posts worried about Drew's career after he signed with the Saints. Hes been carrying the team on his back.

He gets about a second to throw the ball and his quick reading of defenses/quick release allows for him to not get sacked often. Somehow that translates into Jammal Brown being a "probowl lt" hes an average RT at best playing LT and will never move back because of the money.

Zach Strief came in and they didnt miss a beat. We need a Center too, Goodwin is at best a backup. Stinchcomb is the best blocker and most athletic. Some how Jahri Evans gets overrated. Hes not that good, Stinchcomb has to help him out alot and then he gets blamed for problems.

Carl Nicks i admit is a good LG, at run blocking at least, but we had a better one sitting on the bench in Andy Allenman, he got released and then wound up starting next to Jake Long and they did well together.

Strief should be starting at LT or RT. Id like to see Stinchcomb at LT and Strief at RT though. Stinchcomb has amazing athletic ability for a guy his size, the reason reggie has been able to pop off any big runs from dump off passes or screens, is because hes able to get out there real quickly to block at the next level.

If you watch many of Reggie Bush's tds, its Stinchcomb making a key block. Thats all reggie can do though, because he can t see the holes, usually because the Sumo line fails to create any.

I dont know how Brees does it. I hope he can maintain his quick release for another 5 or 6 years. Brown's knees are getting worse. People are saying "but hes still in his 20's" but he walks around like hes late 40's . He got exposed against speed rushers and he holds every game.

Imagine Brees with some time to throw the ball, the way hes improved over the years. 5,000 yards and not one player received over 1,000 yards. Shockey was injured most of the year and played through some of it. Colston had a thumb injury and dropped as many passes as Devery Henderson who cant catch anything. Bush was out several games. They had no running game. No pass rush with 2 of the highest paid DE's in the league.

If he had stayed with the Chargers, they might have won the Superbowl the year Rivers had his knee hurt. Rivers is an up and coming qb, but nowhere the level as Brees.

Hope he can win one with the Saints, he deserves it, hes on a Manning/Brady level with a mediocre surrounding cast. I wish he had some of their linemen, like Matt Light or Jeff Saturday. Hopefully we at least draft a White center in the draft, like Alex Mack or if they go later rounds A.Q. Shipley. Everyone is doubting Shipley because of his arms and they are 2 inches too short. They said the same for Saturday.

and we'll have a healthy Jeremy Shockey next season. Heath Evans who i hope they at least use in short yardage, but id rather him the role Deuce Mcallister had in 06, Evans would be a perfect compliment to Bush if they used him right, Mark Campbell and Dan Campbell at TE. Brian Young at DT, Dan Morgan coming back from retirement, Shanle in case he doesnt work out. Scott Fujita who is athletic as hell as the other OLB. and hopefully Jeff Charleston gets to see more snaps at DE, im sure he will being that both Grant and Smith will be suspended for 4 games for using starcaps. They are glorified Defensive Tackles playing DE anyway.

too bad on that show they showed how to not pass the ball and they showed Kurt Warner throwing a wobbly pass, which doesnt happen often. I guess they couldnt dare show the tons of horrible passes guys like Russell, Young and Jackson have thrown.

Yep, Brees is one of the best quarterbacks ever. His height didn't hurt his career at all. I sure wish I had him on my fantasy team.

Amazing stuff for sure. I'm starting to waver in my belief that Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback ever.
