you can add 2 "Australian" Europeans to the list if you want.
Jack Hale has legal 10.10 and 10.12 this year.
Rohan Browning has a legal 10.16 while running within himself in the heat, followed by a final time at the same meet (to beat Hale) with 10.06 (+2.2).
A shame that a flukey few minutes of slightly over the limit wind prevented a legal 10.07 or so.

As a fellow Australian, it’s great to see! We’ll have some excellent chances in a few years!

Both Rohan Browning and Jack Hale are two of my favorite sprinters. We might have seen one or both of them go sub 10 if they wouldn't have had most of their season stolen from them due to the covid crisis.

Let's hope they both continue to improve. I personally would love to see both of them represent Australia proudly in Japan next summer at the Olympics.

Ah what the hell. I figured I would mention a random athlete. Lets see oh here is one. Alica Schmidt. Just happens to be drop dead gorgeous but don't let that throw you off. Actually I am still trying to figure out if she is for real or just yanking men around. See below her latest update where she discusses her training for the 2021 Summer Olympics.

So you think she is Manti Te'o's new lover? I know she is too shapely to be a Gender bender unlike various 800 meter medalists of the last ten years.....

Through my "casual" research I have determined that yes she is a real person and a track athlete whose specialty is the 200 meters.

What I have had trouble determining is if she has a legitimate shot of making the German team for the Olympics. She has the jet setting moves down pat. Whether it be scenic ski slopes or sun drenched beaches she is there smiling for the clicking cameras. So my question revolves around her real track talents? She is making big money posing. Does she have the grit, talent and determination to succeed in track?

Maybe she can sort of backdoor ( no pun intended) her way in on the team as a relay runner? Ha.

A damn mystery if you ask me. Not that I am obsessed with her or anything. I think the member who first brought her name up here is regretting it now after seeing how I keep providing non essential updates on her.

No offense to the lady but 12 flat and 24 flat aren't cutting it at anything close to the world level, she is only a soon to be 22 so there is chance for improvement to go sub 12 and 24, but at this point she is more model who sprints than sprinter who models.

her 400m time is decent at 52.21, if she can improve that by a second or so she is in the picture.

Goodie. I don't have to give up the ghost just yet. Funny you mention the 400M. When I first saw her I was shocked to discover she was a short sprinter. She doesn't exude the sort of power necessary and her build was too long and lanky. I figured she is best built for the High Jump or 400M. Actually I would prefer she was a world class high jumper and I don't think I need to explain to the men in the room why that would be so. But she is basically a runner.

I better cool my heels on Alica for a spell otherwise Don might give me the boot for turning this site into one long Vogue shoot. But one more for the road.

Bedroom eyes anyone? I figure that my chances of hooking up with her are about the same as seeing a white cornerback in the NFL. What the heck. So move aside fellas I know what I would do if I got my shot with her. I would have a heart attack!

I will defer to the masters class competitor, but at the Canadian national level which I suspect is a shade below the German she would barely make the final in the 100 and 200, I don't have reference on her 400 but I know that is a weaker event which rarely has world class Canadian competitors.

WIR, I agree with synopsis of female Canadian sprinters up to 400m(not including 400mh) seldom if ever are they world ranked. White Canadian females are nowhere to found in the sprints up to 400m. Blacks are steered towards sprints, any white girl who is fast is moved up to 800's etc in Canada. I have seen it happen over and over.

I was saying her(Alecia)time of 52.21 is not far off of a low 51 high 50 which would in most cases allow her to attend higher level meets in Europe where she would benefit greatly. She definitely is not a short sprinter nor an 800m runner.

my 2cents worth.

Alicia 200m time ranks 44th on the European Under 23 list this year.
Her 400m time ranks 5th.
Her 100m time doesn't make the top 50.
So her best event is the 400m.

If you want to root for a cutie in the 100m, I suggest Rani Rosius of Belgium.
And for a beauty you can followf in the 200m, try Dalia Kaddari of Italy.

Obviously for me Alica Schmidt is the Belle of the Ball. But Dalia Kaddari is no slouch when it comes to the looks department.

upload_2020-10-28_8-33-40.png

When comparing say young sprinter Rani Rosius's physique to Alica Schmidt's the difference is noticeable. Rosius possesses a more classic short sprinter build whereas Alica's longer limbed build suggests a longer short sprint like the 400 meters. Although it seems Rosius doesn't quite have the high waist typically seen in short sprinters albeit her muscularity is typical.

upload_2020-10-28_8-47-18.png upload_2020-10-28_8-50-12.png

And these physique differences obviously influence what events athletes succeed in. Marathon runners are all flesh and bones. Shot Putters are big and thick.

Short sprinters are typically high wasted with average to slightly above average heights. High prominent buttocks are another feature. Usain Bolt is a bit of an anomaly given his what 6'4" height? You won't see top flight short sprinters with short little legs that one might see in a wrestler. It has often been discussed that blacks in general have longer legs and higher waists than whites and Asians.

But 400 meter runners often have longer legs than short sprinters and less of a muscular build. That is where Alica comes in. But the longest legs typically belong to the High Jump athletes whose legs go on forever. See below Ukrainian cutie Yuliya Levchenko's typical High Jump physique.

There are still track meets happening in the southern hemisphere.
One result that got my attention is Australian, Christopher Ius 10.24 (1.9).
Never heard of this guy, but perhaps he's an up and comer to watch for next year.

And in Japan:
Sota Miwa won the Japanese HS championships, and ran 10.39 (0.3) in the heats.

Shuhei Tada 10.22 (-0,5)

I wonder if any football scouts have travelled over to Japan and China looking for potential prospects? They seem to have a lot of really fast high school sprinters. I wonder if we may see some Japanese or Chinese college wide receivers at some point. I’m surprised the NFL hasn’t tried to capitalize on the Chinese market yet like the NBA has.

Our season is getting under way.
I just checked him out. A former (maybe present) member of Trinity Athletics Club in Sydney (probably coached by Andrew Murphy who coaches Rowan Browning).

Chris' PB was 10.72 last year. Now there's one heck of an improvement in 12 months

Here's some news:

this hasn’t been mentioned, i don’t think ... the World Athletic Awards are tomorrow, and 4 of the 5 nominees for Male Athlete of the Year are blue collar wearing, lunch pail carrying, overachievers. in no particular order 4 of the 5 best athletes on planet earth this year are:

Ryan Crouser
Armand Duplantis
Johannes Vetter
Karsten Warholm
(Joshua Cheptegei is the fifth nominee)

I recall a Japanese wide receiver getting a tryout by an NFL team and being cut and stashed on a now defunct European league team. Similar to Dwain Chambers and other sprinters the football skills of these type of players are going to be high school player level at best. Also unless they have a rugby background their core strength won't be a modern receivers ability.

I recall seeing Chambers getting plastered while playing rugby and it looked like a tiger pouncing on a fawn. He had no strength to break a solid tackle.

If you want see a foreign track and field type making an NFL roster it would be a rugby guy like Jared Haynes or various rugby specialists who have made fine punters with special teams players tackling ability.

PS, I always felt that the late Lomo could have made a fine power back similar to Alstott or Okoye if he made the transition to the NFL.

Armand Duplantis is the male World Athlete of the Year.
Duplantis broke the world record in the pole vault twice, topping 6.17m and 6.18m on back-to-back weekends in February just a few weeks before the global coronavirus pandemic ground the sporting world to a halt. When competition finally resumed, Duplantis capped his season and produced the highest outdoor vault of all time (6.15m) and finished the year undefeated in 16 competitions.

Duplantis, who celebrated his 21st birthday last month, is the youngest athlete ever named World Athlete of the Year.

“It was a really strange season, for me and everybody, but I was able to put it together and get some pretty good results," said Duplantis, who received the Rising Star Award in 2018.

“I just wanted to go out there and show the world what I was capable of and put my name out there with some big performances. I was able to do that and had some good heights, especially during the indoor season.

“When everything got shut down and things were pushed back to the end of the season, I was able to find some good form there as well which, for me, was more impressive than my indoor season because I'd had two months off.

“I think it’s cool when people describe me as the face of the sport, but it's not something that I need to be or that I must have,” he added. “I just try to go out there, I try to jump high, I try to break world records, I try to just keep improving.”

I've never heard of any track athletes from Argentina, but 20 yr old Franco Florio just ran a 10.24 with just 0.5 wind, to win the Argentinian Championships 100m.
I watched the race and it looks like he pulled a muscle at the finish. Hopefully he'll be okay and can come back with some good times next year. Given his age, I think we can hope for significant improvement. By the way, it seems he is also a serious rugby player.
