OT commits to Nebraska

I only post this because there was a piece about him after his commitment that includes the words "athletic", and even more shockingly, "upside", in the same article...heck, even in the same sentence!:

By adding Walker, the Huskers get a much needed tackle body. After striking out at the US Army All-American Bowl, Walker gives the Big Red an athletic tackle with the upside and worth ethic to develop into a great player.

Hey guys, been a reader for a while but thought I'd ask about a couple kids (white safeties) that I've seen play and seem to have what it takes to play at a really high level.

Jack Koerner

John Mahoney

What am I missing on these kids? Both were first team all staters and have the size and athleticism to play at the highest levels.
Welcome aboard, IAhsfFan. Thank you for the post.

4-star ILB, Dylan Rivers, de-commits from PSU and commits to VT. Not sure I really understand that one. I can understand his de-commitment from PSU since they are now hostile to White players, but I can't see the grass being any greener (or Whiter) at VT.

Highly-recruited 3-star LB from Alabama narrows his choice to Ole Miss, Iowa and Arkansas. He was considering Auburn as well, since they offered, but instead of offering him at his natural position of LB, good 0l' Caste whore Gus Malzahn's offer to him was at the more racially-appropriate position of H-back, even though he's never played a down at that position.

"I actually told Auburn that I’m going somewhere that wants me at linebacker," Johnston said. "I’ve grown up playing linebacker and I love defense. I love hitting people. The opportunity to go to Auburn is awesome, but I’m doing what’s best for me."

The coaches up there at Iowa you can trust them," Johnston said. (Head coach Kirk) Ferentz signed a 10-year contract and has been there 27 or 28 years total. He is probably there all four years and that’s hard to say now. That speaks for itself.

"I love (Arkansas) coach (Bret) Bielema. He’s recruited me throughout the process."

Of course, Alabama's Nick Saban wasn't interested in him at any position as no scholarship was ever offered.

Awesome I like his comments about being able to trust Iowa's coaches. I would love to see the Hawkeyes with a white boy from SEC country wreaking havoc in the Big Ten. Arkansas wouldn't be bad either they're actually improving when it comes to offering pale faces on defensive side of ball last few classes.

WR Henry Marchese committed to Iowa
I didn't see that one coming. Nice surprise, especially since Oliver Martin will probably end up at Notre Dame. This gives Iowa two White WR in this class as well as a third one who is the older brother of a WR that committed to Minnesota a few days ago (posted previously in this thread) who will be a "preferred walk-on". He had some offers after high school but decided to pursue playing hockey instead.

Bizarrely, he ended up committing to UAB over Iowa, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. Oftentimes White players are their own worst enemy when it comes to taking advantage of a great opportunity. I wonder what he was thinking...

Interesting on LBer Johnston... tackling machine...guess he wanted to stay in state at all cost...a shame Auburn wouldn't give him opportunity on defense! UAB re-starting program he can be cornerstone on Defense like Jake Ganus was before before they shut it down; transferring to Georgia

24 7 Sports Top 100 Safeties across the country...counted 9 players..actually a few more than years past..getting glimpses of DB camps across the south...do not see many whites in the crowd participating. Still think that number is low...none of the 9 prospects stayed "in-state"...Who will be the next Harrison Smith, Eric Weddle, Chris Conte, Daniel Sorenson, Jeff Heath, etc....is there a Nate Ebner playing Rugby??

BOTH #39 Stuart Head 6'-4" 190 (STANFORD Commit) & #43 Baylon Spector 6'-2" 205 (Clemson Commit) are from the state of "Georgia"...
.......in the 80' Georgia Bulldogs had more starting white DB's than most....All SEC's John Little; Terry Hoage; Scott Woerner(son plays TE now); Jeff Sanchez;...Also Mark Vincent CB/SMU; Kirby Smart & Muschamp...did white's go to baseball(Jeff Francouer; Clint Frazier; Austin Meadows, etc)?? the doors shut closed? whites just not interested? What changed?

Rounding out the list...
#58 Scott Nelson (MI) 6'-2" 184 ....(Wisconsin Commit)
#63 Garrett Wallow (LA)...6'-2" 215 (T.C.U.)....Hard hitting New Orleans boy reminds me of Craig Steltz
#65 Landon Guidry (TN)....6'-1 185 (Mississippi State)
#66 Ty Thomas (TX)....5'-11" 195 (Arizona State)
#69 Austin Hiller (TX)...6'-1 200 (Northwestern)
#71 Kyle Nunn (OH)...6'-3" 196 (Pitt)
#76 Ben Stewart (IN)...5'-10" 190 (Boston College)

Safety is my favorite position on Defense, so I'm looking forward to some of these guys bringing it.

There was a Safety commit yesterday to GT.
Interestingly, Middle Tennessee State has a tandem (1, 2) in this class.
And even Rutgers (of all programs) landed one...and incredibly have three pale faces on Defense for this class (compared to Nebraska's zero).

As we get closer to signing day on Wednesday, more commits are announcing their school of choice. Here are some notable ones from today:

TE commits to Nebraska
DT commits to Minnesota
WR commits to Rutgers

Awesome! Good for the Cornhuskers plucking a 6'7 TE from Indiana! Rutgers has signed 2 white skill position players and it looks like they're brother's! Tyler Hayek Is 6'4 and Hunter is 5'11! Finally really like what Fleck has done since taking over in Minneapolis. I hope this trend of more white Gophers continue!

Yeah, Nebraska's other TE is 6'8", a native from Nebraska. I was reading an article the other day where his current high school coach said that he's better on defense than at TE, but, like the native Nebraska dominant OLB last year that had to convert to TE (if he wanted an athletic scholarship - even though he never played that position) it sounds like the same thing happened with this other native Nebraska player who was better on the defensive side of the ball.

I think the decision by Johnston to go to UAB was a good one. He will probably get to play early, will earn some additional press due to the UAB football situation and should become one of the elite defenders in the country. I respect him for following his conviction of wanting to play LB in his home state. If he went to Ole Miss, Iowa or Arkansas he probably would of redshirted or rode the bench for a year.

Thanks again to all of you who track the college commits.
