The outdoor season has already started in the Southern Hemisphere, most notably Australia. Some results have been posted on the 2014 Indoor thread, but now it's time the outdoor season gets its own thread.
First result --- Sally Pearson of Australia, a great time of 12.59 (100m hurdles) into a slight headwind.
I'm expecting another great season from her.

Here is a nice video with Jarrod Geddes who is quickly gaining the nickname "White Lightning".

this kid looks good, big improvement in the 200...notice he is going to train a few weeks in Jamaica...The Jamaicans - ped's or not - may have a better system. I think they do... and if Lemaitre trained a bit there, he would be at another level than where he is stuck today.

My take on what their training may consist of on fact: humid hotter climates are better for explosive muscle movements (this constant approach in this climate may adapt the muscle to always fire faster), they do a lot of barefoot sand and uphill running.

As far as PED's, there are many sprinters taking them, and may cant crack 10.3 or 21.0; genetics play a role and natural talent, but also a system of training that knows how to develop the athlete step by step, and not all over the place like Lemaitre's amateur coaches have done to him. One year, weights are bad, the next year they are good, the next year and so on...I know the hate responses will come regarding the PED issue, so let me have it...

18 yr old Aussie, Joshua Clark ran 10.34 today at the Australian National Junior Championships.
Also down under, Sally Pearson ran a very respectable 11.21 100m beating Melissa Breen.
And Tim Leathart ran 10.29 with no wind.

Young australians hurdlers Nick Hough (13.65) and Sam Baines (13.69) also ran nicely in the 110s this weekend at the Sydney Track Classic!

Noticed Brandon Byram ran the 400m this wkend - 46.77.
Not sure if he's changing events or working on this endurance for the 200m. But glad to see he's still running. One of the few top level white sprinters in the US over the past few years.

Jenna Prandini currently has the WORLD BEST time in the 200m, after winning the event in the Aztec invitational yesterday.

Her teammate, Marybeth Sant, won the 100m in 11.74.

Speaking of Oregon, no one ever reported on the NCAA's here, but one of the most memorable performances was Laura Roesler's breathtaking kick to blow out the competition in the 800m.

Brandon Byram opened up his outdoor season today with a huge win a the number 3 time in the world over 200 meters. He ran a 20.27 and he looks really good. Hope he can get close to 20 seconds flat or even a sub 20 this year. I hope we see some more guys in the states make some noise outdoors. Congrats to BB on a very fast opener!

Patrick Feeney opened his outdoor season with a nice 45.56 at Stanford. Notre Dame teammate Christopher Geisting was 2nd in 45.62.
Very good opening season times.

Those are superb times for any time of year, but guess what: Steve Solomon did even better. He just won the Australian national champs in 45.36, despite very windy conditions.

Also, I'm intrigued by Josh Ralph, a young 400 runner who moved up to the 800, and won the championship. He already has a 1:45 to his credit.

On the bad news side, there's Jeremy Wariner who ran over 22 in a 200, finishing dead last. I'm guessing he got injured again.

This kid is the one I'm most excited about among all of the young sprinters right now. If he continues to progress at his current rate, there is not telling how fast he can run. Kristoffer Hari ran 10.37 at 15 years of age racing most of the year against 18 year olds. The kid just may be a shorter version of Lemaitre. You never know. Here is his record setting race from last years. I hope 2014 is even better!

I hadn't been to Flotrack in a while. I love this website. They post so many great videos the we could not see otherwise. Any track lover should go there. Here is Brandon Byrams Race from last week. Remember guys that this was only his season opener. He looks great.

The announcer was incredulous: "is that Byram?! ...absolutely crushing the field!" Hilarious.

Did you get to see the race jacknyc? I would love to see a video link of this kid. I love to see new names. I see he is only 21 so he has plenty of time to progress. This race should give the kid alot of confidence. We need some video!

It's on Flotrack, but you have to pay to watch it.
Perhaps it will become free in a few days when the meet is over.

By the way, 10.14 may tie the fastest time ever run by a white American. I know Kevin Little ran that time. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who has run faster.

From the OSU website about John Teeters' race:

In the 100 meters, Teeters ran a wind-legal 10.14, which is a personal best for him, the No. 3 time in the NCAA and the No. 4 mark in Cowboy history. Teeters’ competition also consisted of professional and unattached runners along with other NCAA competitors.

“Teeters was incredible as well,â€￾ Smith said. “He had a great start, but found himself behind early in the race. However, just like Chad, he remained patient and stuck to his game plan. By the 40 meter mark, he had the lead and no one was going to catch him. He has had an incredible spring. He put up a world-class time today. The most important thing is he is starting to believe he is capable of performances like this.â€￾

I think this is the right race but the video coverage is from a mile away. It's better than nothing. Teeter was fantastic!

Well, sirs, I'll match your John Teeters and raise you one Jenna Prandini. She ran an unbelievable 11.11 to blow away everyone at Mt. Sac. The second place girl from Alabama wasn't even in the same time zone.

Also, the incomparable Laura Roesler, now a senior at Oregon, crushed a field of professionals with a 2:00.54 in the 800m.

The Olympics are waiting for these two ladies...

Prandinni and Roesler have both been favorites of ours for years around here. I'm so happy for both of them. The last 5 years approx in the U.S. have been a little more enjoyable from the high school to the college level. I hope this trend continues. Anyone that is not blind should realise that we need more whites to compete on the track before you can see some of them rise to the championship levels. Whites in the sprints especially in America are almost as rare as white running backs in the nfl.

Lukas Jakubczyk of Germany opened up his outdoor season in Florida running a respectable 10.27 0.5 wind in the 100 meters. He later went on to run 20.87 in the 200 meters. None of the other german sprinters looked very good. Martin Keller only managed a 10.61! That is not a good sign for him as he must be in terrible shape. Keller went sub 10.10 wind legal last summer. Hope he can get in better shape by June or July. No sign Of Julian Reus yet. I think this kid could finally go sub 10 this year. He also went sub 10.10 wind legal last year.
