Does anyone here know when Ramil will open up his outdoor season. I've been waiting anxiously for him and several other guys. It's almost June and these list of guys haven't raced yet. There is Craig Pickering, Ramil Guliyev, Jason Smyth, Christian Blum, Tobias Unger, and many others. What are they waiting for? Any news on any of these sprinters guys? Thanks in advance.

I found out some bad news about Craig Pickering. It's very sad as he will miss the whole season and his dream to run in front of his home country in the olympics. He had to have back surgery. Keep your head up Craig. Hopefully this will help you to regain your form next year. Getting out of constant pain is the most important thing. Here is a link.

A US high school kid just ran TWO FULL SECONDS faster than that in the 200. I wonder if we have any girls that run that fast? I wonder who would win a race between Guliyev and Hannah Cunliffe? Pathetic.

The sprinters are just not getting it done, and, while I appreciate the news, those times are just embarrassing. Have we ever seen a sprinter get a lot slower and then bounce back? Not that I can recall. Guliyev seems to have gone down the path of Pickering and the rest--briefly promising, then slower every year. His sprint times are now no better than the repeats Sebastian Coe used to run in training for the mile.

Thankfully, the middle and longer distances are getting deeper and better every day. Even the long sprint, 400, isn't bereft of talent. But, for good news, you really need to be focusing on the action from 800 to 10k.

I always felt that Ramil lacked motivation. He never seemed fully committed to track.
But those times are completely discouraging . . .

I don't buy it....we don't know if he was jogging or going full out.
And what would be the point of training, going to a meet, and then jogging through the races?!
Unless he's injured or sick, these times are very sad for him.

I'm not going to say anything negative about this kid. He has so much natural talent. Tommorow is his birthday and many of you also forget that he lost his father in the last year. He is also battling in the courts to attempt to be able to compete for Turkey in the 2012 London Olympics. All I'm saying is he has had it very tough and most people would struggle if they had to do with all of the things that have happened to him. I just hope to see him back to form whether it's this year or next year. I didn't nickname him "Rocket" Ramil for nothing.

He might be dogging it because he knows that he can only enter a few selected meets this year because he won't be allowed to compete for Turkey until 2014? A 22 second 200 meter dash is literally jogging unless he pulled up or eased off because of a tweak in his legs or upper body.

Ramil was neck and neck with CL when they raced indoors earlier this year. I forget if it was 60m, 100m or 200m but it was on a tight curved indoor track.

The most current result is todays race will Ramil won running a time of 10.35 into a negative 1.8 wind! That is good for around a 10.23 time with no wind and faster with a positive wind. Good to see him slowly getting back in shape!

Ramil raced in Finland today.
He took 2nd in the 100m in 10.33 (+0.1)
Reports are that he had a terrible drive phase and was well behind at 70m. Sounds just like Lemaitre. Wonder why these guys can't improve that part of their race?!?

In the 200m he 20.69 (-0.5) for 3rd place.
Again, he gave up a lot of ground early, and couldn't make it back (although he made some of it back) in the end.

Ramil has hands down the worst start I've ever seen. He stands right up at the sound of the gun. If he could stay low and have a real drive phase he would break 10. He has unbelievable top end and maintenance. He just need to stay low at the start and drive, it is as simple as that. How his coach has not addressed this by now is absurd.

Simply, I don't think coaches from turkey and Azerbaijan know what sprint training is. This guys talent will go down the toilet if somebody does not save him. He should come to the USA and get some pointers. Guiliyev has great speed maintenance; he runs similar to Michael Johnson

From the T&FN message boards about a meet in Finland:

"m100:

1. Jacques Harvey JAM 10.25 (-0.7)
2. Ramil Guliyev TUR 10.40
5. Visa Hongisto 10.64

Another bad race for Guliyev, his acceleration phase wasn't any better than at Lapinlahti.

m200:
1. Ramil Guliyev TUR 20.53 (+0.0)
2. Rasheed Dwyer JAM 20.70

The first race in a while where he looked more like the real Guliyev - though again it was a case of being well behind at 120m and zooming past everybody near the end. Can't help wondering if he should try a 400... "

Guliyev is just totally wasting some incredible talent! Somebody needs to step up and give this kid proper training and coaching.

and we wonder why black are better sprinters,if guliyev born in usa and make there athletics,he would bee a 9.8-9.9 sprinter but he is a azer-turkys sprinters who run just 10.1-10.2 this is the difference,is not geneticaly is about training and doping!!

The caste truth is that if Guliyev was born in the US, his coaches would have moved him up to the 400m or 800m in high school. He would have never run the 100m at this level. That's the ugly caste system in action in the USA!

truth

you speak the truth jacknyc........wariner has a pr of 20.19 over 200meters...it begs the question that even the great clyde hart has predisposed racial ideas...... wariner achieved that without really focusing on the 200.... i would tell him even now try the 200 ... why not ... he is still not past it...
