Working abroad with a skilled trade and University degree

I am currently gainfully employed, doing well financially, and I have plans that I am working towards and doing in my life (starting up a site and such). This post is really just for information and future reference more than anything.

I have both a skilled trade (currently apprenticing) and a University degree.

I currently live in Canada, and I know that I already qualify to work abroad on a youth visa in many European countries.

But because I also am an apprentice and have a degree, that should qualify me to immigrate permanently or atleast work in other countries no?

Say for example you are an electrician, plumber, master pipefitter, steamfitter, gasfitter, are you able to work in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Philippines, Thailand, or Yemen? Ive never been to the Middle East or Asia and it'd be a dream to one day work and live there, say 3 or 4 years in the future. Id love to work in one of these places and is it possible with my education and trade? Also, do I have to wait until I am a master (suppose a master or "journey" pipefitter) at my trade or would they take apprentices too? Are there any countries in particular demand for skilled trades? Who should I contact about this? Are there any websites or guys here who have worked abroad with a skilled trade?

Please help, Canada sucks. No, just joking, its great here but Id love to live and work outside for a couple years. I figure with my degree and trade I should qualify. I have researched this topic online but it is surprisingly hard to find info. It is skilled labour and I've heard of other guys doing it. Has anyone done it or knows someone who has?

Just for future reference, not planning on doing this anytime soon. Plus it will take me another 2 years before I am a "master" tradesman.

I don't think Saudi Arabia, UAE, Quatar, Egypt, or Yeman are going to be very amenable to your hobby of making porno. Isn't this all an excuse to get better access to Muslim tail that you always go on about?

If you dare go to places such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Philippines, Thailand, or Yemen,

1) You do understand that you are on your own and will not receive any benefit of State protection from Canada?

2) You do understand that going to such places there is no certainty of returning to Canada?

3) You do understand that though Canada and United States do not usually enforce statutes on foreigners, the countries you write of enforce Sharia nonsense (no uniformity in process or substance)?

Of our tradition, we say three strikes, your out. Be very careful of what you get yourself into.

UAE is very liberal, almost like the West as are parts of Qatar (for example alcohol consumption is OK, and Id bet you could even find strippers and escorts). In Saudi Arabia sexual disbehaviour is punishable by death, and they frequently carry out executions of sexual deviants, so I would obviously not be doing anything like that if I was there working. I would respect the laws and quite frankly the punishments in Saudi, Yemen, or Egypt would be so severe that its just not worth it.

I will be launching a porn site here (in Canada) soon. That is my plan and what I want to do with my life.

I don't think I want to have a girlfriend or a wife, certainly not anytime soon. I'm doing so well in my life right now, and I don't want to change that. So no, I'm not interested in going to these countries for women. Its more just because I am young and value my freedom. We only live once so I'd like to see and possibly work in these places.

Many foreigners (many of which are White) work in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Yemen. They all return safely and for the most part make very good money. The people who ex patriate and work in the Middle East come from all over the world but mainly Europe (for high paying jobs) and India/Philippines (for low skilled labour).

I actually have female friends here in Calgary who were living in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and they told me it is packed with Europeans...

But yes, point well taken. Canada is a first world country and to a point you are endangering yourself by relocating to the developing world.

Does anyone know guys who did this with a skilled trade? What is the best way to go about it? I know a few years back they were hiring skilled trades like crazy in the Middle East. Probably they still are. How do you get these jobs?

BS Specialist, your libertine lifestyle would go over like a lead balloon in Saudi Arabia. The Saudis utterly despise western culture...especially "entertainment" from the rootless cosmopolitans of "Hellywood". Your carnal indulgences would likely land your neck at the business end of a scimitar.

***That being said...if you're serious about a gig over there, here's a company that hires alotta westerners & pays solid.
