As the final round of The Firestone finishes up today with Justin Thomas holding a three shot leave , a quick word about the women.

The Asian invasion in women's golf is well documented and so far this year a Thai and South Korean have captured a major. Pernilla Lindberg won the first major of the year at the ANA Inspiration(formerly known as the Dinah Shore).

Today another European 22 year old Brit Georgia Hall played a commanding four rounds and pulled away from the plethora of Asian challengers.

Interestingly beginning in 2013 the women's tour added a fifth major played in France in September called The Evian Championships.

I believe that the men's tour should also add a fifth major. And I also advocate that tennis follow suit. In tennis the location will have to be in a fixed location which could be the US or Canada or some other foreign locale. Obviously it would have to take place in a first class facility that will probably need to construct a modern stadium to enable it to be major ready.

It is time for a fifth major in men's golf. And for tennis too. I think these sports are missing out on a golden chance to increase their popularity.
