I thought this topic merited its own thread, as its a sort of positive story. By my count Wisconsin recruited 12 white players out of 21 total. Positions represented by white players were the usual suspects, OL, DE, TE, QB, and linebacker, but whites did dominate those fields. Also, what was interesting was that 7 of the white players came from either Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, and it seemed (not totally sure on this) that many of these were from small and mid-sized towns. Also, for a few of the white players Wisconsin was the only major college program that offered them a scholarship, with a few getting MAC offers as well as Wisconsin.
Sadly the Badgers go the usual route for WR,RB, and DB's finding out of region black players for those positions, but it must be said that at least they offer the one major college chance for several Wisconsin area white players. If more teams in mostly white areas like Kansas for instance would recruit locally more white kids would have a chance.
