Will Herring was just named to the 2006 Lott Trophy Watch List. The Lott Trophy is awarded to the college football IMPACT player of the year. Will has started at safety for the last few years for Auburn and has often been the lone white starting defensive player. He plays with heart and courage and is involved in almost every play it seems. He runs fast too. Other news is that he will play linebacker this year for the Tigers.

I remember watching Herring since he was a soph. on Auburn's undefeated team that year. He is a good player who is the best returning safety in the SEC and one of the best in the country.

Playing with a strained hamstring and for only about half the game v. Washington State, Herring made 3 solo tackles, a spectacular diving breakup of a pass play and intercepted a pass for 16 yards in Auburn's 2006 season opener. Herring also rushed for 42 yards on offense in a trick, "fake punt" play.

For the Washington Cougars, big tight end (6' 8", 264 & white) Cody Boyd scored a TD on 50 yard reception.Edited by: Vindicator
