This isn't about race. I listen to "the fan" quite a bit. They claim they are the oldest sports talk radio station, which I think is true. Shouldn't they feel like idiots that they didn't have the foresight like ESPN to start-up their own all sports TV channel. It's kind of like Bill Gates stealing IBM's ideas and then going out and making a ton of money. ESPN is huge while "the fan" missed it's opportunity.

It's extremely difficult to start up any kind of national corporation anymore. A tremendous amount of initial capital is required, then there are all the endless regulations from innumerable government agencies at various levels that must be complied with, not to mention all the "affirmative action" and "diversity" requirements. Coming up with a brand new product, or a more efficient way to market and distribute an existing product, are about the only ways to hit it really big in business in the U.S.

What kind of money would it take to start up a rival to ESPN, or a new pro sports league, or a new automobile company? Billions. . . it's the same way most people get shut out of a serious chance to succeed in politics -- first they must get vetted by the party establishment, which rejects or isolates them if they don't toe the ideological line sufficiently, then they must have access to millions of dollars, sometimes tens of millions of dollars.

Free enterprise was long ago conquered by monopoly capitalism, which also makes sure Americans are fed Cultural Marxist nonsense every day in every way.

Very well said, Don. Even if by chance an aware entrepreneur had the hundreds of millions, the Rothchilds empire is staffed top to bottom with those who will create the PC obstacles to free thinking, much less free enterprise. However, if he towed the caste system, the red carpet would be rolled out.

According to the often incorrect wikipedia, WFAN started the all-sports format on July 1, 1987. If that is the case, they were already way behind ESPN as far as marketing, even if they had gone to TV.

Then why didn't you post this on HH, WhiteWorld? Don, I suggest this thread be moved to HH forthwith.

Your right about starting up any national corporation. Usually the way to do it is to start local build a loyal following then franchise out stores/sell stock. Very few people remember the days when local small businessmen were the kings. Picture ethnic neighbourhoods from the 50's and earlier.

I think that should read all-sports radio format; ESPN started first on the TV side.

The reason "the FAN" doesn't run a TV station is they are a subsidiary of the CBS Radio network; they don't get to make that call. ESPN has more flexibility being part of the Disney Empire to add radio stations.

I'd hope that would be fairly common knowledge around here.

The primary reason for government over regulation is to keep new businesses from threatening the old ruling corporate monopolies--the government-corporate continuum. No one can even start a TV or Radio station without government approval which de facto creates government censorship of the airwaves.Democracy in practice is plutocracy.
