Well here we go. Saturday night 10 PM EST.

The fight card will be:

Couture v. Gonzaga
Huerta v. Crane
Koscheck v. St. Pierre
Pellegrino v. Stevenson
Cote v. Grove
Jensen v. Leites
Babalu v. Heath
Mir v. Hardonk
Guida v. Aurelio

I don't know if Randy can pull this one out. Gonzaga is confident and in great shape and young. But after what Randy did to Sylvia I won't pick against him.

Koscheck/ GSP should be a good one, although I don't think Kos is in GSP's class.

Mir is back.

It's too bad they can't improve their production in sync with the increase in interest in the sport. In many respects the shows are getting worse, not better, as they make more money.

Some good interracial scraps here. Cote is going to beat Grove all the way back to Hawaii and St. Pierre will most definitely beat Koscheck-the-mulatto silly. Also, I think the Couture Gonzaga fight will be a good one. Gotta love Randy, even at 43 years of freaking age!

I'm predicting Couture to be victorious by way of decision in this one. Go Randy!Edited by: Ground Fighter

Interesting... I have been without internet access at home for almost a week, so I'm only checking in every couple days. I thought I started a thread on this topic, posted the card and my complaints about the fight card. No where to be found now. But anyway..

My chief complaint is the UFC's continued promotion of Huerta as the next best thing since sliced Kimbo. I'd much rather see Guida v Aurelio. I find it hard to believe they're even televising Cote v Grove in lieu of the Guida fight. Those guys are going to bring it and we're not even going to get to watch it.

I noticed that you posted the Huerta fight above the GSP v Koscheck fight. Is that how they're listing it on the site? Is it the fight just before the main event? If so, that is some serious f***ing bullsh*t.

On UFC's site they have the Huerta fight listed above GSP's. I also can't believe after the outstanding fight that Guida had with Tyson Griffin that they're not gonna televise him. Of course I've never heard of Marcus Aurelio "Maximus" but he does have a pretty sweet name.

I'd like to see someone defend Huerta receiving billing over GSP v Koscheck without admitting that the UFC is promoting Huerta because of his race. It's ridiculous on it's face, and proves everything we've been saying about the UFC's agenda to recruit and promote black and Hispanic fighters.

Randy Couture is a BEAST.

Josh Koscheck just learned that there is a whole 'nother level of MMA out there. War GSP!

Kendal Grove is on his way back to Hawaii.

Do you think Goldberg and Rogan could gush over Huerta a little more? It was embarrassing.

Man, Randy just shoved Gonzaga all over the place. That takedown of a 252lb man was damned impressive. Gonzaga didn't protest much when Herb stopped it either. There was one tight shot that showed Gonzaga spitting up blood. So what's next for Randy?

Unless a Fedor deal gets hammered out, it's probably gonna be Arlovski, right?

Tim Silvia is fighting brandon vera in october. It will probably be the winner of that fight that gets the next title shot.

I'll admit it, I thought Couture was in for some trouble. I thought he was going to be stuffed in the first round, and damn was I glad to be wrong. This was the most exciting fight of the night, no doubt about it.

Couture was bobbing, weaving, and beating the heavier man in every sense of the word. Lifting the 250 pounder high and slamming him to the mat. Conserving his punches for when he knew they'd land, he shoved the big man against the cage, time and time again, dropping huge bombs. Everyone was cheering, it was great.

Roger Huerta never made me less proud to be a minnesotan, hearing the white fans cheering for their "hometown hero" reconquista was bullsh*t, and his opponent, while catching him several times seemed unable to launch a decent offense from the ground or otherwise, weak.

It was great to see the overrated "SPYDURR" get sent packing, and GSP's sound victory over Koschek was a great, if not expected, turn out.

What was with GSP's entourage though, there was this gay black dude running around without his shirt for no reason after the fight and carrying Georges around. It was pretty creepy. ;_;

other than that, a great night! I didn't catch any of the undercards, but there was a big pool of blood I noticed before the couture/gonzaga fight...I bet it was Guida!

Everyone, please read my above post from a few days ago and my predictions for these match-ups. With each fight that I commented on, my predictions are DEAD-ON accurate. Couture won, St. Pierre won, Cote won.

Damn I'm good.

Thoughts on UFC 74:

Randy said this is the first time in his career he's ever trained with a strength and conditioning coach. It showed. His arms were massive and he bulled Gonzaga around like a training dummy.

Chuck Liddell punches harder than Gonzaga kicks, and Couture has an iron jaw compared to Mirko Cro-Cop. Gonzaga kicked Randy square in the head with a high kick and he just stood there. I can only imagine what went through Gonzaga's mind at that point.

Diego Sanchez is psycho. Did you see him in the audience with his stone-face 'I'm scurry killer' look?
smiley36.gif

The house booed when they put Kobe Bryant on the big screen. Way to go Las Vegas.
smiley32.gif

The man-love being heaped on Huerta was so disgusting, I thought the UFC had signed Madden to call the fight. Huerta barely beat a guy who was in his first UFC fight and was apparently much weaker than he. All that's left is for Roger to start cutting his first Spanish solo album....*

GSP is an amazing athlete. Wait! Can I say that, isn't he white?? Anyway, his takedowns were smooth as silk and he dominated Koscheck. I predict GSP gets the title back - if they ever let him fight for it again. I'm sure there is some minority fighter waiting in the wings for the winner of the Matt x2 title fight.

Does the winner of the Cro Cop - Kongo fight get Couture next? I have heard that Mirko installed a cage in his gym and is training with people who have experience with elbows and using the cage. Please... Mirko.. you gotta win this one.

I read that Babalu choked out David Heath, but held the choke too long and now the NSAC is withholding his purse pending review.

Guida won by split decision over Aurelio. Can this guy ever get a break? I'm still annoyed that the UFC didn't televise this fight.

My favorite win of the night was Cote's KO win over Grove. I can't stand that guy and his loss thrilled me only slightly less than Couture's win over Gonzaga.

* To be fair, Oscar has fought many great fighters and deserves his fame, unlike Huerta.</font>

That guy was part of his fight traing team. If you'd look you'd see that they couldn't find GSP's sponser shirt he came in with so his team member literally gave him the shirt off his back. Can you imgine your great white hope being trained by and brotherly with a low-ly black?

lol

Oh yeah Coutures training coach is black too

Great white hope? You must be kidding. This isn't boxing kid. Funny enough, there is already talk of "the next black hope" there also.

Strength training/coaching/rap comments: See, here is where you show your racism by attacking our supposed "racism". Why should we care who trains randy couture, or who listens to what? The purpose of this site is to celebrate white athletes (like blackathlete.net, right?) and expose media descrimination against them.

Goodbye, Troll.

I was just remarking on how weird he looked, constantly pacing in front of the camera like that, not that he had a black guy around. Geez, get butthurt more, dude.

"Guest" was the homosexual guy who came on this board and was so happy after Jackson beat Liddell. Whenever some great black hope manages to find a modicum of success he gets happy.

Big deal about black training partners or rap music. What matters is what happens in the ring and your boyz just can't hang with the white fighters. You will always have 1-2 black hopes, but who cares? Take a look at the boxing, wrestling and MMA champs. What color are most of them?

After Jackson beat Liddell, you showed your racism and claimed that blacks were superior athletes. But whenever there is a fair competition in soccer, basketball, fighting sports ...etc, who wins?

I have to admit I also thought Randy was going to have a hard time. But
he showed why so many, including Gonzaga say Randy is mentally the
toughest fighter out there. He took some shots, especially that last big
kick from Gonzaga and shrugged them off.

Huerta was not impressive against a guy with eight fights who obviously
had no conditioning. Huerta will have his bell run against any decent
fighter - as long as it isn't fixed. But his performance and 'billing' show
that the UFC is trying to create some darker hued heroes. What financial
considerations have been waved their way. I have to wonder what type of
promotion Gonzaga would be receiving if he hadn't had his ass handed to
him by Couture? I'm looking forward to Rampage receiving a terrible
beating against Henderson, against anyone really. The promotion he's
received on local TV here in LA has been ridiculous. Then again, it was
local ***** sports anchor Jim Hill leading the cheerleading, having
Rampage in as a studio guest several times etc. Reportedly Hill and some
other local sportscasters "of color" along with their usual suspect(s)
producers have been highly bothered by the righteous turnaround in
boxing and the uniformly poor performance of blacks in MMA.

I had to come back and add this to my post before I forget - again: Is it
just me or does it seem like the refs wait forever to stop a fight when a
"person of color" is getting pounded? By that I mean wait a bit longer
because it seems like they're hoping for that lucky shot that might turn
the tide? I've seen this before, and honestly when Couture was pounding
Gonzaga the ref could have stopped it sooner, and in fact a lot sooner if
Gonzaga's inactivity and inability to defend himself when pinned to the
cage by Couture. It seemed as if Gonzaga wanted to quit when he said he
couldn't see at one point. Maybe he was just trying to get some rest and
direction from his corner. Anyhow, I bet that if Couture had had his nose
busted like that or was taking unanswered shots they'd have stopped it a
lot quicker. Edited by: Colonel Callan

Totally classless. He said it was because Heath disrespected him or some nonsense at the weigh-in. Hopefully he loses his purse and is never allowed back into the Octagon again. By the way what WAS he doing in the Octagon? He's lost two fights in a row (Liddell/ Lambert).

The only thing that ticked me off is that two of the judges gave Koscheck the first round. Huh?! He did practically nothing on top. Talk about stealing a round at the end. It was very amusing to see GSP take down- easily and repeatedly- the guy that Rogan considers the best wrestler in MMA. Ha!

My favorite win of the night was Cote's KO win over Grove. I can't stand that guy and his loss thrilled me only slightly less than Couture's win over Gonzaga.

Ah man, I wish I could've seen that. Hopefully they'll show it on some SpikeTV at some point. Edited by: JD074

Yeah, we don't need a "Great White Hope" in MMA. Or boxing, for that matter. Maybe NFL at the running back position, but not MMA or boxing.

Huerta clearly has a good amount of European blood in him but he is only being promoted as heavily as he is to try to jump on the "La Raza" bandwagon.

Rampage's title run will be very short lived but Anderson Silva should keep the middleweight title for a while as there is nobody in the current middleweight division to threaten him (unless they bring back Linland).
