Four white athletes appeared on a recent (6/20/08) top 10 overall athletes list published in the WSJ. Decathlete Roman Sebrle was the #1 ranked athlete. Jeremy Wariner ranked #8 on the list.
Although the makeup of the list can be challenged, I like the list more than dislike it because:
- Sebrle is ranked #1 and he probably is the best overall athlete in the world and he's white.
- Wariner is getting some deserved visibility.
- This article was published in the Wall Street Journal a business publication, most of which seem to lean toward a "caste" viewpoint.
- A hockey player appeared on the list.
- Whites are the best represented group.
