I found an article dated Oct 2008 that has some interesting numbers on the Premiership's shakey finances:

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/sport/liverpool-football /2008/10/09/the-dominance-of-debt-laden-premier-league-clubs -in-europe-will-soon-come-to-an-end-as-the-global-financial- crisis-takes-hold-according-to-a-leading-football-finance-ex pert-64375-21996733/

Professor Tom Cannon, a football finance expert from the University of Liverpool, estimated Premiership debts at 3.5billion pounds, which he said was around 500 million pounds in excess of the then total market value of all the Premiership clubs. He also estimated the annual interest charges at 70-120 million pounds a year, and possibly up to 150 million, a figure which exceeds the profitability of the English Premiership.

"They owe more than they're worth and the interest payments alone exceed their profits - that position is just not sustainable," he said.

He also said that the Premiership was unique in this respect.

"No other league is as indebted at the Premier League and I would be surprised if the dominance that we now see was sustainable beyond the next season or two."

Newcastle seem to be showing signs of potential fionancial collapse. I saw the following comments in a story on the BBC about Charles N'NWObia, another overpriced, selfish import:

...Kinnear also hinted that the club and owner Mike Ashley had been hit by the economic downturn.

"The credit crunch is killing us," he said after the defeat at Eastlands.

"Mike (Ashley) has lost two billion quid in his own businesses and shares. He is just about paying the wages but it is not an easy situation."

NpNWObia , another black "french" player. French sports is as bad as our sports. Why are they allowing all the African immigrants into France and England.

Adebayor is another African who is an ingrate. He was complaining about taxes in England. He should be happy that they let him into the country to take a British persons job and just shut up.

On a side note, I HATE when someone brings the drums to a game. I have heard drums at Portsmouth, Blackburn, and Wigan. This is not an English tradition. They should be banned. Another example of a takeover by outside forces. Constant drumming ,or banging I should say ,makes the game almost unwatchable.

You can't really blame these third worlders for jumping at the chance of megabucks, but it seems that the English Premier League is a particularly soft touch for their overhyped abilities. I think this is due to the English language - "the international language" -, the more globalized nature of the UK, and the fact that political correctness is more advanced here.

The other big Euro leagues seem to have a more nationalistic ethos that makes it harder for third world imports to flourish. Fans there simply wouldn't do what, say, Arsenal fans do week-in-week-out, i.e. turnout for a team without a single indigenous Briton.

It's time I contribute to the Soccer section, though soccer ain't and will never be a sport I will like one bit.

I'm amazed how Britain and France have stooped so low just to imitate "American Sporting Culture." By letting these "spoiled and uneducated" immigrants to their country, they are simply destroying their "indigenous national identity and culture."

Why do so in the first place? If its about DIVERSITY again, then they might as well have planted the seeds of their own doom.

Britain will NEVER win another World Cup like in '66. Why? Their white indigenous talent pool is being allowed to rot away. If they think can do so with these British Blacks, then they are stupid, Blacks lack the one thing NATIVE British whites have: National pride and identity.

These Blacks, Indians, Asians, and Muslims will NEVER salute to the the British Flag: the UNION JACK, and even more so, the British CROWN. What I stated almost applies also to the French. If these stupid leftist British pricks and French fries are simply doing it for the money and for GLOBALIZATION, then that's theirs to lose.

One things for sure, Britain will NEVER win another World Cup (my condolence to David Beckham and Wayne Rooney). The French will sooner or later suffer the same fate as the Brits.Edited by: j41181

Too true. National pride and identity count for a lot, but let's also remember the atrocity of France winning the World Cup in 1998 with a polyglot team - the exception that proves the rule.

Anyway, don't count British pride and identity dead yet. The signs are that the BNP are gearing up for another electoral breakthrough this year.

Globalism's crisis is nationalism's opportunity.

The other leagues are getting pretty bad too. Inter Milan has only 1 italian that gets any playing time-Materrazi. AC Milan while at least having a core of Italian players still has many foreign. Look at their attacking players some games--Pato, Kaka, Ranaldono--all Brazilians.Barca usually as about 7-8 foreign starters. Portugal is being overrun with Brazilians.I'm sure you know Deco is a Brazilian.

Look at how the AC Milan fans were almost crying when they thought Kaka was leaving.

You are right. The immigrantswant to change Britain into a Muslim and African country.Unfortunately, the average person will suffer more than the elites who can leave easier. The corporations are in on this to with their quest for cheap labor. They want to bring in even professionals who will work for less than the natives in computer science, engineering etc.. There was a member of Parliament who said that he thought it was great that there are so many different races and cultures in London. Did the the British people really ask him to give their country away?

You seem pretty well-informed about the day-to-day situation in Italy and Iberia. How about doing an ethnic survey, checking the nationality of each player playing on a given day as I did with my "Racial Snapshot of the Premier League" article.

http://www.castefootball.us/viewarticle.asp?sportID=8&teamID =0&ID=23397

I'm sure other CF readers would be as interested as I would be.

I suspect that although there are some bad offenders, as you point out, the situation is not quite as bad as the English Premier League. My impression is that a lot of the foreign players are other White Latins.
A White Brazilian, or even a mulatto, speaking Portuguese and playing in Portugal, wouldn't seem quite as foreign as some Congolese or Bolivian playing in England.

It's also interesting that the examples you cite seem to suggest Brazilian colonies in Italy and Portugal. Although the players are foreign, they are from one country, thus giving the team a more united ethnic or cultural character. This suggests that the Portuguese and Italians at least understand the principle of racial or cultural consistency.

Wenger at Arsenal has also gained strength by applying this principle, employing large numbers of Francophone Blacks in the past. One possible reason for Arsenal's recent decline is because the team has gradually become more culturally and ethnically diverse (at least as far as the dominant players are concerned) and diversity beyond a certain point, as we all know, is a weakness.

I'll see what I can do about the survey.

It does seem managers try to get players they are familiar with. The manager of Hearts of Midlothian in Scotland is Lithuanian and he has 3 Lithuanians on the team. Benitez at Liverpool has several Spanish players. WhenLawrie Sanchez took over Fulham he took several Northern Irish players onto the team.

I think Spain has a rule that teams can only have 3 non-European Union players on the team, but they get around it by giving Brazilians passports because of distant relatives coming from Spain. I don't like this at all. I'll try to find the exact rule. There have been reports of a large illegal trade in Italian passports in Argentina. These players are getting illegal passports and then taking jobs form Europeans.

Now a host on Fox Soccer channel suggested they get foreign REFEREES too. All British people I guess should move out of their country.

Also Sir Alex Ferguson seems to be aware of this rule. That's why he's building up a little Serbian colony at Man U, if recent transfers are anything to go.

The latest financial news from the Premiership is that they've signed a "tasty" TV deal with Sky, securing an 80 million pound increase on the last deal - 1.782 billion poounds for 2010-13 against 1.702 billion pounds for the 2007-10 rights.

An 80 million increase in revenue spread over three years sounds impressive, until you realize how badly hit the pound has been by the recent recession. This has hit the UK's banking based economy harder than any other G-7 nation. Since the economic crisis began, the British pound has sunk from around 2 dollars for one pound to less than $1:50 for a pound. It's value against the Euro has followed a similar pattern.

So, depsite the extra 80 million, things are not as rosy as they seem.

For the top imported and even British players, who have the option of playing elsewhere around the World, the pot of money has shrunk considerably in real terms.

Also, questions now arise of whether Sky TV will be able to recoup their investment from subscribers increasingly reluctant to fork out the money to keep the Globalized Premier League on their screens.

Even if they have less money to spend, will that mean less foreign players. The whole world is in a recesseion. There are plenty of Africans and Eastern Euros ready to come in and steal the jobs. It is a shame what has happened to the Uk.

Now I see all the Polish are stealing construction jobs from Brits. They are like the Mexicans on all the construction sites in the US.

Of course, everywhere is affected, but the UK, because of its useless banking-based economy, is worse effected. That's why the pound has devalued relative to other currencies. Playing in Germany and Italy is starting to look much more attractive to foreign players (and some British ones), but the net effect of this would be to make the Premier league Whiter and more British.

Also, as we've seen with the recent "British Jobs for British workers" strikes, the recession generally makes people more aware of identity and interests - more protectionist if you like - and probably some of this feeling will carry over into football.

At least that's the hope. After seeing the Premier League - along with the country - colonized with such ease in the last 10 to 20 years, I am, like you, left with a degree of cynicism about our ability to defend our racial self-interests. Personally, for me it's not about winning - as only the Gods can decide that - but it's about fighting and remaining positive and proactive whatever happens.

It's sad that all these 3rd world players get the option of where to play in Europe. They should be kicked out as far as I am concerned.

Karl,How is the BNP doing? Will they win some seats?I guess it's hard for smaller parties to grow in first past the post systems. The larger parties are trying to make people feel guilty if they vote for them by using "racist" or "xenophobic".Am I xenophobic against muslims and Africans-yes. I wouldn'twantmy country changed into something where I feel out of place or a minority. There is nothing great about diversity.

My impression is that the BNP has made enormous gains, but still mostly under the radar. To expalin this imagine every person is a political "barometer" with a collection of differing political affinities.

Some people are more Conservative than Labour so they vote Conservative, but they also have a bit of Labour and a bit of Liberal in them too. These different political affinities fluctuate within each person over time.

For example Mr. X might at moment A (say 1997) might be 60% Labour, 30% Conservative, 5% Liberal, 3% Green, 1% UKIP, and 1% BNP in his political affinities. So he goes and votes for Tony Blair in the 1997 election. At point B, say 2001, he is disillusioned with labour and is now 30% Labour, 45% Conservative, 10% Liberal, 8% Green, 0% UKIP, and 7% BNP, so he either votes Conservative or abstains.

Everybody is like this, with differing affinities according to the person and the time.

Although the BNP still has a long way to go, I would say that its main progress has been under the radar in raising the percentage of BNP affinity in each British person. While most people will still go for the big parties, almost 10% of the electorate are more than 50% BNP in their political affinities and possibly another 50% of the electorate are around 25 to 50% BNP in their political affinities, maybe not enough to vote BNP in a general election campaign, but certainly capable fo becoming BNP voters in the near future, depending on a wide array of factors. Back in 1997 most people had zero political affinity with the BNP.

I agree. Nobody is all "liberal" or "conservative". Whatever those words even mean. Each word brings up a certain idea in voters minds that the parties use to get votes in a simplistic way. The media generally goes along with it.

I'm still convinced that, the way the Premiership is run. it's only a matter or time before some club goes bankrupt and collapses. The big names like Chelsea and Liverpool, even though their finances are dodgy, are still able to attract further investment because of their brand power, but what about some of the less glamorous names, like Portsmouth, for example? I think the first Premiership domino to fall will be a less glamorous club that has mismanaged its finances. Right now Portsmouth look like a good candidate:

Hull is also having some problems.

Hull, like Portsmouth, is exactly the kind of club that fits the profile of "less glamorous club that has mismanaged its finances"

A sure sign of trouble at Hull is the directors insisting that the financial situation has improved as the chairmen resigns. Plus they need 23 million pounds "to meet current liabilities."
