Star White Running Backs reposted from the ez board

Heres 2 stud white running backs to watch this year who
are both seniors. You guys probably already know about
them. They both are pre season nominees for the
Doak Walker Award which is given to the nations top
college running back. Luke Staley won it 2 years ago
before being forced to work at the shopping mall.Sad.
Chance Kretschmer of Nevada is healthy once again for
Nevada and reminds some of Larry Czsonka. Hes not the
quickest guy but has descent speed and just flat out runs people over. He led the nation in rushing his
freshman year, was injured his sophmore year but had
over 1000 yards last year. He is very tough and poised
to have another huge season. The other guy in
Kyle Eckel of Navy. Thats right I said Navy. This kid has
talent similar to Staley. He is built like Mike Alstott and
at 5'11 240 can go through you or race by you with
his 4'5 speed in the 40! This kid is a stud and I can
really see him getting a chance to play alot at the next
level in the NFL. I can't see him being a fullback in the
NFL because of his height. He needs to stay at running
back. Eckel is an amazing athlete who is like the
enegizer bunny. He keeps going & going!LOL! I really
hope he has a huge year & when he gets drafted, they
don't try to switch him to another position. This kid is
also the type of role model that the NFL needs with all
of the pot smoking thugs these days.

I watched the Nevada-LA Tech game today on ESPN 2 (actually I was working most of this supposed holiday on various things and kept the audio up listening for Kretschmer's name). Chance barely played until the second half. Apparently he has a knee injury that has slowed him this year, and has slowed him periodically since his great freshman season. The play-by-play announcer had multiple orgasms over Louisiana Tech's starting tailback, who was running through huge holes most of the game.

I think a white tailback will need to run for at least 3,000 yards in his senior season, run the 40 in under 4.2 seconds while being at least 6-1 and 240 pounds, and have a 50-inch vertical leap to actually be drafted in the first three rounds by an NFL team. And even that might not be enough.

Kyle Eckel of Navy had 98 yards rushing in another blowout
as he scored 3 touchdowns today. Navy ended up with over
300 yards rushing for the game and stayed undefeated in
2004 so far at 3-0! Eckel usually gets stronger as the season
goes on as he is in top physical condition. Navy will have
alot of close tough fought games this year, and thats when
you will see Kyle lead the team.

Chance Kretschmer of Nevada had another big game today for
Nevada. He rushed 22 times for 154 yards and a touchdown!
Chance is a very strong running back and it usually takes
several guys on defense to take him down. His leg drive and
strength is incredible. He's well on his way to another 1000
plus yard season. Hopefully Nevada can keep winning so
he will be in the spotlight just like Eckel of Navy. Theres
another running back whos played the last few weeks for
Colorado State by the name of Uldis Jaunarajs who had 98
yards on 22 carries today. He also returns kicks for the Rams.
He is looking better every week and is only playing because
of a injury to the starter. If he keeps playing like that, he
hopefully won't have to go back to the bench. Peyton Hillis
of Arkansas didn't play today because the game was post
poned because of weather.

I guess they posted it wrong. Chance had 160 yards rushing.
I short changed Kretschmer six yards. My mistake. This
weekend is a weird weekend for what you might call some
throwback games. Byu plays Boise State. You also have
Colorado State playing Montana State. I don't know if either
of these games will be allowed to be put on tv because you
are not allowed to have a white out! LOL. Anyways, Boise
State keeps moving up in the polls and I expect them to pull
the upset this weekend. Colorado State has also become one
of my favorite teams. I think that they will be a team to be
reckoned with all year. Its too bad they didn't have a few
easier teams at the start until they got it going. Most teams
take at least a couple of cupcake teams to start the year
since there is no pre season in college.

Dan Burks of UAB had 23 carries for 146 yards today to lead
UAB to a hard fought victory over Memphis! He rebounded
nicely after last weeks game against FSU. Burks has great
break away speed and once he's past the O-Line, look out.
Kyle Eckel struggled today, he was a little banged up and
only had 31 yards although Navy won to stay undefeated.

Chance Kretschmer of Nevada had 19 carries for 86 yards
and one touchdown last night. San Diego State won the
game easily as Nevada had to pass primarily to try to make
a come back but to avail. They should have kept pounding
the ball on the ground more. Chance had a descent game
but didn't get to go over the 100 yard mark which is very
rare for him.

Well I guess we should add another running back to keep an
eye on. We probably won't get to see this guy play much if at all but man is he the real deal. He's putting up numbers that
very few running backs ever have in that division. They are
comparing him to Ed Marinaro who was probably one of the
best white running backs that ever lived, especially in college!

Reply re:hartigan

I was reading up more about Nick Hartigan and this kid could
be the closest thing to Staley that we have seen in a few
years. He had almost 1500 yards rushing last year in only his
sophmore season. Nick averaged 148 yards rushing per game
to lead the nation. He's big at 6'1/6'2 220 lbs and very fast.
He was a multi sport athlete in high school. Hartigan is putting
up numbers at a amazing rate and had 175 yards rushing last
Satruday. He seems to get better each week and last year
rushed over 200 yards in a game twice. This kid is the real
deal but doesn't get much respect because he plays in the
Ivy League. I don't care where he plays, the bottom line is
that he can run and has power. I think he should probably
stay till his senior year but you never know. If he has another
huge season like last year or better, the time to jump to the
NFL might be right now. Two questions though.First will he
even be looked at seriously by the NFL and 2nd if so, will they
force him to put on another 30lbs and be a fullback.

We have a good military rivarly game tonight between Navy
and Air Force. These 2 teams will put on a show on the ground
like the old Nebraska teams used to. Navy has Kyle Eckel, one
of the nations best running backs. He has a style and look
about him that will remind people alot of Alstott. I expect
Kyle to run for around 125 yards tonight although he has a
bullseye on his chest. Not only does the Air Force hate the
Navy, but the coach of the A.Force put Eckel for the Heisman
posters in every Falcon players locker. They are ready to kill
him. Kyle after being told about it said,"bring it on". The
Air Force has a running quarterback that is very explosive.
He is putting up numbers like most running backs do. It
should be a great game with 2 very athletic white qb's that
will probably both rush for around 100 yards. I am looking
forward to it and to see Eckel in action. I will predict a very
close game, with Navy pulling out a close one to stay
undefeated.

I'm going to try and watch the game some. When J. B. posted the picture of Eckel it did remind me instantly of Alstott. Maybe the NFL will at least give him a chance as a fullback that gets to run some. But I guess we shouldn't hold our breath waiting for that to happen!

Heres a descent article on Kyle Eckel and just like all of the
others he was ignored by Div. I Schools. Its good but lists
his speed as slower than he is. He runs in the high 4.5 range.

Well Hartigan does it again. He had 161 yards and 2 touchdowns in Brown's 20-13 victory on Saturday. He
continues to impress with his toughness and strong work
ethic. This guy never seems to get tired!Brown is also having
a good season with only one loss thus far.Good luck to
Nick the rest of the way.

Well, Nick Hartigan does it again. Here is a short article
on his latest contributions to help Brown win again. He is
only a junior and shows great leadership. This kid could
probably run 30-40 carries every game if they needed him
to.He is in amazing shape to take that kind of beating.

Chance Kretschmer rushed for 178 yards against Hawaii on 34 carries, with 1 TD. That's the most I've been able to watch him in a televised game. He really knows how to run. He's earned a shot at the NFL.

Heres another running back we have forgotten all year
long. His name is Ed Pricolo of S Heart in the Ivy League.
He is 4th in the nation in rushing with 837 yards rushing.
He is only 100 yards behind the nations number one
rusher. He is only a junior and could very well lead the
nation is rushing. Its too bad that we don't get to see
some of these guys play because the games are very
rarely shown of telivision. This guy's name brings back
memories of a great white running back from years back
by the name of Brian Piccolo!God bless him because he
was quite a talent.Anyways, heres to Ed attempting to
do what Chance did his freshman year. Its kind of funny
because for the few whites that are allowed to play the
taboo position of running back,we sure are damn good at
it.You had Staley win the Doak Walker Award,Chance
led the nation in total yards rushing with over 1700 in
his freshman year,Nick Hartigan led the nation in rushing
yards per game last year,Brock Forsey has the 2nd most
touchdowns ever for a college career,Brian Shay and
RJ Blowers broke all the records, and now another guy
in Ed Pricolo! It makes you wonder how good they could
do if given a equal chance!!

Hey Donwas, we should try to add Pricolo to the College
Pictures Section. He just might lead the nation in rushing
and that would be incredible. With Chance Kretschmer and
Kyle Eckel both being seniors, they will hopefully be going
on to the NFL.That leaves us with the 2 Ivy League Guys,Peyton Hillis,Kyle Bell,Kevin Harris if he plays his
freshman year, and a couple of others. One good thing
about Pricolo is that at 5'10,he can't be converted to
a full back. This kid is really good.

Don't forget guys. This Saturday is the Navy vs Notre
Dame Game!Kyle Eckel is going to run all over the
fighting irish!I am going to love seeing this happen as
N.Dame was one of the many schools to not even give
Eckel a look out of high school.Gee,I can't imagine why
that would happen.Kyle has said he wants to make this
a statement game to show the people that they should
have given him a scholarship.Call me crazy, but Navy will
go 6-0 and beat the Irish in a close game.Bet on it.

We need to get some links to some of these guys.Ed Pricolo is the nations 4th leading rusher with almost
900 yards. He is only a junior. This guy is someone we
should really keep an eye on!He has all the tools
necessary to be a star running back!He has had 5 or 6
straight 100 yard games with one game over 200!He just
might lead the nation this year.

Ed Pricolo is up to 1090 yards in rushing for 3rd in the
nation.Kyle Eckel and Chance Kretschmer are both having
big years.I think that Kyle might go higher in the Draft
than Kretschmer but Chance might be just a little bit
better of a overall running back!Either way, both of these
guys remind me a little of Mike Alstott.Dan Burks is
having a good year as well as Nick Hartigan.Peyton Hillis
has been injured & Tre Smith hasn't played much.

the 34-20 win over Deleware.Kyle is rounding into form
and getting stronger with each game.
