What do you guys think? Is it worth while to keep them going? I usually start the sign up thread around this time but with everything going on I wanted to gauge interest Most of the innovators who initially did the write ups are no longer active. It's basically me getting everything organized and a small valuable group of contributors who do a bulk of the write ups.

Also I do not own the process and if anyone else wanted to organize everything please feel free to speak up.

I think that we should do write ups, but the question is WHEN. Right now, probably not, but if the decision to play comes up then yes. With the cancellation of Spring games, team activities and the rest, it's a total crapshoot to figure out who's playing and who is not. Besides, many players may contract COVID-19 as they start to breath on each other which will end up quarantining the team and the many, many who will then perish from the worst plague humanity has ever seen.

The covid stuff is one thing. This is more of a general question - their has been good work done already in terms of players to look out for in the College Football Stars thread. As for write-ups - it's only a small number of us that actually end up doing the research and writing the previews (hat tip to @TwentyTwo @Red raider @Bucky @Shadowlight @Claimjumper @northwinds and any other contributors I may have missed). A lot of people do check out each of the write-ups - the 2019 write-ups look to all have 100+ views so people are checking them out but do not provide feedback to the write-ups or they do not volunteer do actually do the write-ups.

Don has hinted at closing the forum down due to inactivity and it got me thinking to whether or not the write-ups are beneficial or even worthwhile at this point. I'd rather get a feel from the forum members before calling out for volunteers once again to only have the same few great members actually do research and write-ups once again.

Maybe this will also serve as a call to other board members who are not as active anymore to return and get involved or lurkers who may have an interest in assisting with this.

I enjoy the write ups and will take a handful of teams.

I voted yes but the situation obviously needs to be monitored. Personally I'm going to wait another month to see if this season comes to fruition or not. You've got to think the greedy boosters and higher ups at these big schools don't want to miss out on their revenue.

The season is still up in the air - with Big 10 teams only doing conference games. Hopefully there is an answer on the season sooner rather than later because we would of started the write ups by now.

What's the rationale behind playing conference games only? More radical left chancellors trying to cause as much damage as possible in order to defeat Trump? How is playing a team outside a conference any different than playing one from within the conference?

Lou Holz was on Tucker's show the other night and was strongly for all college sports being played. But he's a big Trump supporter.

Not going to a Corona hot spot and possibly avoiding air travel. I will say this all of the conferences that have dropped or delayed football for the year are in low revenue conferences that aren't modern football factories. It may take orders from state governors of SEC and ACC schools for them to delay or cancel the season as the money for them to play is too important for them.

What I have heard is the conferences might have different COVID protocols. Because it would not make sense to tell Clemson they couldn’t play South Carolina. But Clemson can play Boston College and South Carolina can play Missouri. I’ve also heard that the big conferences were expecting to not make as much money so they wanted to cancel the games where they pay the smaller schools to come play to save some money. Don’t know how much truth is in that.

It reminds me of Bisharat and how he got f-ed...
Wanting to make a TE out of such a talented runner.....
    It sickens me.

Yes when Alabama plays a HBCU or DII program on the road it's a huge revenue boost for the school as the stands will be full and programs and food will be bought at a near capacity rate. These same schools when they play their own schools are lucky to a few thousand people in the stands.

I’m still up for banging them out if and when the season gets underway. Definitely a lot of unknowns. What teams will actually play at all, who will sit out (I’d imagine more white athletes would that black choosing health and family over the dangling NFL carrot), Will there be transfers etc.

To Don’s point it does seem like protocol consistency seems to be the reason for the push to conference only games. Though it does seem comical that, locally speaking, two state schools That are a mere 45 miles apart - CU and CSU - can’t play their annual game.

Has anyone seen the preview mags? Really on the fence about the writes up this year because we still do not know if the season will even occur but I also don't want to get too behind in terms of at least getting something written up for these teams for continuities sake.

Should we start the writes ups soon? Maybe with the "Group of 5" and then as we progress through August focus on the "Power Five"? I know we could all use some sports content - it should bring some traffic back to the site and get some forum activity going.

I know it's only a small core group of us who do most of the work so if I hear back from my main contributors I will get the 2020 write ups thread started. What do you guys think of focusing on "Group of 5" teams first? Does that seem logical?

Not sure the PTB want to see a College Football season....so my enthusiasm is ebb n flow...I understand Conf. only for flexibility ; but it makes no sense Iowa can't play Iowa State? Clemson vs So.Carolina? No Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin in Lambeau? WHY NOT? They are in the Big 10 footprint. No Alabama vs. USC; or Ohio State vs. Oregon

Always appreciate the work put into the write up's for all 130 FBS Teams; that is always a tall order & may not be realistic.

Yes i have a Lindy's & Street & Smith preview magazines. Some of their projected Line ups are different. Most P5 have Two-Deep depth chart; others only list starters for weaker teams & mid-Majors.

Clemson has bucked the trend become a favorite when looking at Southeastern schools.
Over the years teams i check on in the BIG 10 .... Iowa ; Wisconsin; Northwestern; Nebraska Ohio State; Michigan/Michigan State & Penn State.
Out WEST curious to see .......Stanford ; USC; UCLA; Cal; Oregon ; BYU ; Air Force ; Boise St. Always more fun to do a write up for a Wazzu with a talented RB like Max Borghi.

A team like Middle Tennessee is interesting with DB Reed Blankenship & QB Asher O'Hara

I know we can get it done - like everyone has stated in the thread it's just a matter of knowing whether or not their is actually a football season. I must have done write-ups for the better part of a decade now so it does feel a little strange to be broken out of this routine. Part of me wants to at least start with some of the obscure teams and work our way up to the bigger known teams. I suppose I am just getting a little eager to get the ball rolling at least.
