It's ok if you're an established star at the end of your career like Zach Thomas and Keith Brooking, but young White LBs must dread being drafted by the Cowboys. They're kicking ass everywhere they're given a chance but there must be something in the air in Dallas (Essence of Jerry perhaps?) as Sean Lee is already getting the Bobby Carpenter treatment just a few weeks into his pro career:

Rookie LB Needs to Impress on Thursday

Remember Bobby Carpenter? You know, that long-locked, blond guy that we used to call "Barbie" instead of Bobby? The guy that Bill Parcells drafted as 18th overall pick in the 2006 draft as a favor to Bobby's dad, who played for the Tuna in New York?

Well, he was the butt of many jokes here inDallas for his bust of a career â€" bust at least in the terms of living up to his high draft status.
Now, the Cowboys are working in another rookie inside linebacker who they chose in the second round of the 2010 draft.
Sean Lee came from PennState and was drafted with the hope he'd back up beastly middle linebacker Keith Brooking and sub in for Brooking in passing situations, basically the role Carpenter played for the Cowboys last year when he had a career year of 46 tackles and two sacks while even starting two games.
But Lee hasn't had a good preseason, in fact, he's had a pretty bad one.
The rookie injured his quadriceps early on and missed a lot of time in training camp so he's starting from behind, but he's still got to be considered a disappointment so far.
Now there are six other guys who are competing for the role the Cowboys hoped to groom Lee to take as a rookie.
That big question will be one of the many answered in Thursday's preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins. Even though it appears starters will not play for the most part, there will be a lot of jobs won and lost, and though Lee isn't fighting for a job, he is fighting to get in the good graces of his coaches.

Thing is I have a friend in the DFW area that's a big time Cowboy fan...he said he is very impressed with Sean Lee so far! However he was dogging Carpenter for being a finesse player. Hmm...I have faithLee will impress tonight! But get the feeling no matter how good he plays; he must still serve his racial apprenticeship behind Brooking...my friend laughed when I said that; then he said "Bradie James better be looking over his shoulder".

Realize this is Jerry's team...I can't stand the Cowboys anyway!

Marcus Spears, who has gotten chance after chance, is a (Cowboys) BUST.

But, how is Bobby Carpenter "a bust?" Oh, that's right, they didn't use him because he was "soft"... If he is so soft, just put him in the game and watch him promptly get hurt. Better than paying him 100's of thousands to just stand on the sidelines...

Marcus Spears is a scrub, and it has been proven, and yet Dallas re-signed him.. "Bizarre"

Cowboys ILB Sean Lee recorded 11 tackles, one pass breakup, one interception, and one fumble recovery against the Jets in Week 1.

"Sean Lee must have had his hand on the ball 10 or 12 times through the night," owner/GM Jerry Jones said. Lee played nearly every snap while Bradie James and Keith Brooking rotated at the other spot inside. Last year's second-rounder has emerged as a key player in Rob Ryan's defense.

Sean Lee # 3 in tackles playing absolutly out of his mind. Already has 2 INT's and a FF and a fumble recovery. Pat Angerer is #1 in the NFL. This is going to be a good year for white D players!

Kerrigan and Watt playing great right off the get-go as rookies. Almost every White defensive player drafted highly the past few years has been an instant success, while most of the black players have been disappointments and outright busts. Casey Matthews is apparently struggling a bit, but I don't follow the Eagles closely enough to know how much is legit because the DWFs and media were all over him from the first play of the first preseason game. I have no doubt that Matthews can excel at one of the linebacker positions. Just check out his family genes; if he's not a great player he'll be the first member of the Matthews family not to be.

    another positive post on rotoworld:

Cowboys LB Bradie James says ILB Sean Lee is "playing out of control" in a good way this season.

We haven't seen five better linebackers in the NFL through three weeks. Lee has led the Cowboys in tackles all three games while adding his second interception, second fumble recovery, and two more pass breakups against the Redskins. Cowboys fans can finally exorcise the ghost of Bobby Carpenter.

He's certainly a very good player. Angerer, Hawk, Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing, and Laurainitis are all incredible linebackers.

    Really bad news:

ESPN Dallas reports the Cowboys fear ILB Sean Lee will need season-ending surgery on his right big toe. Two NFL Network insiders confirm the report, and Fox Sports Southwest is told the injury is similar to Felix Jones' season-ending torn toe ligament in 2008. The Cowboys have a capable backup in veteran Dan Connor, but this would be a devastating loss for their defense. Lee has been arguably the NFL's top inside linebacker through seven weeks, racking up 58 tackles with four passes defensed. With freakish closing speed, the IDP stud has been elite in run support and above average in coverage.

One of the rumors I've heard is that many in the Steelers organization wanted to draft Lee when he came out. The rumor was that Tomlin overruled them in order to draft some black player, also a linebacker.

If it's true, the Steelers screwed themselves because of their anti-white racism.

Lee is one of the best in the game.

damn it! still, it could have been worse

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports Cowboys MLB Sean Lee (hamstring) will be sidelined 3-4 weeks.

Lee could barely walk as he hobbled to the locker room Sunday evening, so it's hardly a surprise. In theory, it's well timed with the Cowboys heading into their bye week, but Lee — who has a lengthy injury history — is still going to miss at least 2-3 games. It should end Lee's push for Defensive Player of the Year honors, and leaves the Cowboys' already overwhelmed defense almost comically thin. Kyle Bosworth and Ernie Sims will try to pick up the slack in Lee's absence.

During the Thanksgiving game, the announcers actually stated a couple of times (gasp) "Lee is missed, we really need Lee back," etc. A bit of a trip off the Caste plantation. Refreshing.

The anti-whites won't give a white man full credit. They always have to diminish the credit somehow.

They said that somehow the defense played well without Lee. This diminishes Lee's value.

They said that he's one of the best linebackers sideline to sideline. This implies he's not one of the best in other areas, which he is. His four interceptions shows he's good in pass coverage.

The anti-whites will only compliment white players in a backhanded way.

Sadly, Sean Lee is looking more and more like Dan Morgan -- a great linebacker when healthy, but just can't avoid one injury after another. This latest injury came right after he was returning from a hamstring pull.

    From Weenieworld:

Cowboys ILB Sean Lee (neck) said he doesn’t know when he’ll be able to return to the field. Lee is dealing with a sprained ligament in his neck and has already been ruled out for Sunday's game. His absence is another blow to the Cowboys' defense and a matchup upgrade for Eddie Lacy and Green Bay's running game. Lee is expected to be reevaluated early next week, but doesn't have a set timetable to return to practice.

He probably felt an obligation to get back as soon as he felt like it was physically possible, not when he was absolutely 100%. I'm sure more than a few here have lifted weights regularly and I know if I rush a sore lower back in to working out I end up compensating with other muscle groups and make myself more prone to injuring another muscle group which is unrelated. Lee, as do other Dallas players no doubt, believes the Cowboys have a chance to win the NFC East and he wanted to get back and help, hopefully the Cowboys are irrefutably eliminated soon and Lee can take his time to heal before returning to action next year. He is one of my favorite number 50's in the league, many of which seem to be white :) Unless I only notice them when they are white... Who knows.
