Ok they are both smart and seen as game managers. Both are equally mobile and athletic although in true jerk media form Wilson gets much better credit for it. For the record Wilson runs around a 4.55 40. Smith guided the 49'ers to the playoffs and almost single handedly turned around the Chiefs. He was brilliant in a loss that ended their season. But Smith was pushed aside by the 49ers and the media continues to complain about him with the you just can't win with him idea.. Wilson, who quickly supplanted a white QB(Matt Flynn) who was on a roll,
at times looked like the worst QB in the NFL. He has slimed his way through the system. Bouncing back and forth between baseball and college schools--first NC State the Wisconsin he has endured less animosity from the media than Smith.
But to me the clincher is this growing fact. The reason it is harder for Smith to win is because he is white. The majority of players in the NBA and NFL are black and as Pete Carroll's team proved as well as Auburn and Fl. State in the national championship it seems mainly black rosters can "stick" together--(stick it to whitey) better than teams who feature white athletic skill position players. In other words Wilson has the back of his teammates more than Smith in my opinion. Wilson portrays himself as some kind of underdog who beat the system. Well if thats the case it is a hell of a lot easier to win when your teammates are fighting like crazy backing you up which is more that can be said for teams that feature white skill players!

Well done shadowlight. I really like the strategy of comparisons. Side by side comparisons, and reversing the races in any given scenario are two powerful antidotes to the poison.

You guys are selling Smith short. He outdueled Luck, Rivers, Manning but his defense let him down. He did it with worst receiving corps in the NFL.

Valid point! They screwed over Wylie and now they've signed Dressler but the biggest white wr they have screwed over is Ty Shoemaker that guy had size/speed everything NFL claims they want. Instead we're stuck watching the uninspiring play of McCluster,Avery,Hemmingway,Bowe, and 1st rd megabust AJ Jenkins.

I believe SF pulled the trigger too soon on Smith. Two years away and still no SF Super Bowl ring and those bonehead throws by Kapernut vs Seattle-- --seems to me Smith would have been better against Seattle.

Alex Smith isn't given as much credit as he should be by the mainstream media.

Smith played very well at the end of his career in San Francisco. If Jim Harbaugh hadn't made the boneheaded decision to replace Smith with Colin Kapernick the 49ers probably would have won the Super Bowl the 2012/2013 season.

After Smith was traded to Kansas City he helped turn that franchise around.

If Smith had been on the Seahawks they probably would have done just as well as they have with Wilson.

Well stated EP. Smith is a better QB than (black quarterbacks) phony 'Christian' Wilson & "Krapernick". Those 2 overhyped afroletes couldn't hold the collective jockstraps of elite QBs like Rodgers, Brady, Peyton & Brees.
