Slightly OT article: Size matters? African football is ill-served by Europe’s obsession with physique

http://tinyurl.com/6tm6nrf

The Laurent Blanc quote about blacks is mentioned.

Needless to say African football is not the only "victim".

good article
few people know that european clubs actually have soccer schools in africa
in northern italy clubs are heavily linked with ghana also
ans the same happens in scandinavia
i heard swedish or danish or norwegian clubs are linked to african soccer schools, the one created by patrick vieira
the only objective of the school created by patrick vieira is to bring africans in europe , and more precisely in northern europe
if they fail at soccer they are under contract with business schools, to allow these gems to live i scandinavia or in the north of france

this must stop

the article is written from an african point of view
but from an european point of view, if we want to buy a foreign play maker, we must buy a brazilian, who is more talented, and do not wants to remain in europe (because brazil is the best country in the world)

and the article talks about north african play makers...lol...what a joke
zidane was good, but he looks more white than north african
algerians, moroccans, tunisians, are so selfish, it's ridiculous
i played soccer with them all the time
they can't do a pass, they are wanna be cristiano ronaldo

the two great stereotypes of french soccer: the tall strong black, and the skilled arab playmaker, "à la zidane" lol

gourcuff is the real new zidane, not these small selfish arabs

To me Zidane looks like a Kabyle Berber. In the mountains of Kabylia many were isolated from the Arab invaders so did not breed with them.

http://tinyurl.com/7uuocxp

no surprise, he is berber
but even amongst berbers, he is an exception, he looks white for a berber
for example benzema looks more arab

the first goal of gabon vs brazil

Great (although politically correct) article that cuts right to the core of the problem. What I call the NBA-zation of European football (NBA being the american basketball league). Importing the mith of the "black super-athlete" from the US into football/soccer. And of course, England, being the most Americanized country in Europe is ahead of the pack.
That is why I almost stopped watching Premier League and am switching to La liga, serie A and other championships which are not (yet) completely overwhelmed by black body-builder players with little or no ball skills. European football was NOT meant to be a sport where "size is everything".

i love how the article says that the black bodybuilders stereotype comes from "colonial racism"
in my opinion it really comes from the super athletes concept from england and USA
my grand father was a "colon" (don't know if you would say it like that in english) and blacks were not even allowed to play sports
the blacks were also small and skinny because they were poor and because africans are smaller on average than whites

Yes - here in America the blacks are (on average) big because they were selected for physical stregth by the people who brought them over (as they had to work on their plantations). Otherwise they are not so big.
In Africa they are becoming bigger because of the help in food and medical care provided by Whitey. If we left Africa to mother nature, they wouldn't be nearly as big.

i found these videos about brazilian goalkeeper dida

and also you can add the thierry henry goal in the 2006 world cup, his most important mistake in my opinion

he reminds me of mandanda
they both are goal keepers able to do great or even amazing saves (dida was better though)
but they lack concentration, and they are bad on aerial balls

i always thought it was a shame for italy to buy a brazilian goal keeper (and black ) while there are so many talented italian and european (french, german, scandinavians) goal keepers

really good result for liverpool, the whitest team in premier league
2-1 against chelsea

the first goal of liverpool was scored following a mistake by obi mikel, the nigerian

aren't defenders and defensive middlefielder supposed to be able to dribble and launch attacks?

a classical mistake from a black goal keeper

this guy is Ali Al-Habsi and he comes from oman :icon_rolleyes: aparently
it's strange with these arabic countries like saudi arabia, they always have a lot of blacks
i expected them to look arab, but they are really black
30586.jpg

maybe they import some "talents" from africa

the last goal comes from a mistake by wes brown, "english" international

and mangala, 20 years old "french" "diamond", responsible for every defeat of FC porto this year
http://rutube.ru/tracks/5050538.html?v=616b453bfb7999381309f72674715377
every time they played with him, they lost
i already talked about him in this thread, when he was made a fool of in champions league against the brazilian playing for nicosia

and lescott of manchester city against liverpool:

...
They are descendants of African slaves which the Arabs imported in large numbers over centuries.
Arabs themselves are very racist vs. blacks.

As an aside, the "highly rated" (I would say overrated) Taiwo who just came from Marseilles to AC Milan last summer is looking for a new team, after having played very little under Allegri. Probable destination (you guessed) - Premier League.

I watched him against Siena and he was horrible.
Even Maldini says "The Nigerian should have been better evaluated before taking himâ€￾ (http://www.soccernews.com/maldini-bale-defence-is-poor/84870/).

Also interesting comments on Gareth Bale from Paolo Maldini:

“Bale (has been) unmasked: (he) knows only how to attack. Just like (Milan’s Urby) Emanuelson.â€￾
“Most left-backs now are converted midfielders, much more likely to attack,â€￾ the former Italian international told Il Corriere dello Sport.
“The rule is: if you cannot get back, you must not go forward. The current best specialist is Marcelo, who gets it right in both areas.â€￾

Although I put Bale in my favorite 11 team, I must agree with Maldini. Bale has to get better at defending/tackling. He's still relatively young and can improve. This "brazilian" style of attacking fullbacks Roberto-Carlos style has been in fashion for some time now, but is not great in tackling and defending. I hope Bale (of whom I have a very high opinion) will get better at playing defence.

I would disagree on Marcelo for whom exactly the same comments apply.

thanks for the update about taiwo
i posted a while back his coach's comment on him
it was obvious from the start he was not skilled enough for serie a, and especially for a big club like ac milan
even in france everybody consider him as a physical player with no brain, and not very skilled
also everybody know he is older than he pretends to be

about bale and maldini:
i think that maldini meant that both marcelo and bale play very high on the field, but that marcelo defends better

i didn't saw bale enough to know if he defends well or not
i would trust maldini, since he is a legend
but my first thought is that bale is too talented to play full back, he needs to play higher on the field
it's like manuel vargas
he is so talented that in the national team he plays as a forward

i think that when you play with really offensive minded fullbacks as bale or coentrao, you need 3 central defenders
i always thought that the best defence for ac milan was yepes-mexes and thiago silva playing a little bit higher than them
abate plays really offensive also

in the last real-barcelona match, coentrao was playing very high, and on one of barcelona's goals, coentrao was not where he was suposed to be
with uruguay also i had quite a few moments where i hated the fact that fullbacks play so high

a better video of the own goal of the century

from wikipedia:
On 16 December 2011, Festus Baise scored an own goal, described as a reverse scorpion kick, past his goalkeeper Tse Tak Him in a 3-2 win over Sun Hei SC in the Hong Kong first division. The video was featured on the website of the British newspaper The Sun and was viewed three million times on Internet site YouTube.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP]

it's incredible to see how many black players there are even in the hong kong league by the way

i saw this video today of a black defender scoring 3 goals in the same match, including 2 own goal
his name sounded familiar, so i used the search function on this forum and found this:

Unfortunately, Fate has decreed that Peterborough United are playing away when I am in the vicinity of Cambridgeshire (and shan't be the visiting team in any of the places in which I am staying on a matchday) so I will sadly miss out on seeing my favourite club in action - but I'll probably be at Oxford United and Accrington Stanley in the City of Dreaming Spires this coming Saturday.

:thumb:

I'm already cringing in anticipation of some sort of glaring blunder by Oxford's black ex-Chelsea defender Michael Duberry... :icon_lol:

posted by rebajlo

well, here is the video of a recent (3 days ago) match where he scored 2 own goals in one match, a really impressive performance

2 own goals in a season is already impressive, but in one match, that's brillant

tim howard the american is not a bad goal keeper, but he did a funny mistake today during the match everton-wigan:

and in france there was a very big match : marseille lyon
both teams were very black ( 7blacks for marseille + an exotic non-white and 6 blacks for lyon)

souleymane diawara gifted the draw to lyon (marseille was leading 2-1 when he scored his second own goal of the season)

http://rutube.ru/tracks/5287443.html

the defences have been terrible in this match
both teams had 2 black central defenders
and it's pretty cold in france right now
even in marseille
where i live for example it's -15 degrees (or 5 F)
so it's a though period for black defenders

They have to import black players in Hong Kong too. Can't we watch a game anywhere in the world without black players.?

another black goal keeper from french "ligue 1":

http://rutube.ru/tracks/5321457.html

it was the only goal during this french cup match between paris saint germain and dijon

the part 4 of my compilation of black defenders from this season, with a focus on the african cup of nation

a black keeper from "as nancy" is featured in this video
he started playing as a goal keeper at 17 years old
it's no wonder why he is so bad

also i didn't watch arsenal-ac milan, but i read that sagna and djourou have been very bad for arsenal in their 4-0 defeat

porto-manchester city:
porto was leading, but manchester city equalised with an own goal from alvaro pereira the black uruguayan
but pereira did nothing wrong, helton the black brazilian is the man to blame (that's at least the second time this season, after the gifted goal against donetsk in champions league)

the second goal:

and another racism case loaded with irony:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/17/yaya-toure-mario-balotelli-racism-porto?newsfeed=true

loaded with irony because porto has countless blacks (south american or not)
and because of this statement by touré:

"That's why we all like the Premier League, because it never happens there," Yaya Touré told Sky, perhaps forgetting incidents this season. "Maybe in foreign countries they don't expect black players. I think in future it will be OK, they will change their minds and the game will become more open. Football is football and the fans come to enjoy the game, and we don't want things like this to happen."

after all the racism affairs that occured this season in enland :icon_rolleyes:

i didn't know where to post this, in the "bad defenders" thread, or in the horrible misses from blacks" thread
because the black "promising" player from arsenal, Oxlade-Chamberlain, a striker, scored an own goal in cup after losing the ball in the middlefield
i read that he did a very bad match in addition to this own goal

arsenal lost 2-0
