Looks like Tampa is going to a youth movement as they released 5 veterans (all black). The big name is Derrick Brooks, who recently received the Rueben Brown lifetime Pro-Bowl achievement award. For those who don't know what this award is, it's given out to black players who have not been good or productive for years but some how have the intangibles needed to be a "allstar".

I guess Tampa was actually smart enough to see through this, cutting Brooks and building around the far better but less talked about Barrett Ruud.

Other old timers released

P.S. - I'm sure there will be tears shed for Brooks as they were for Harrison.

Thank god, Brooks hasnt even been above average since the season after their superbowl win. He was a good player, but at this point, he's about as much a force on defense as an ageing Ray Lewis ("a veteran leader in the locker room").

Freethinker, Brooks' Rueben Brown pro-bowl award is certainly fitting. Perhaps the award should share it's name with other "pro-bowl" sumos like Orlando Pace, Walter Jones, Brian Waters, and Jonathan Ogden.
